  1. Intro - After more than 15 years of ownership, many great meets, road trips, and track days, my Fairlady is going through a full top to bottom rebuild. During many of the meets I discussed building the ultimate NA with Slick Pete as we shared the love of high revving NA motors. Almost everyone recommends going TT conversion or LS swap as the easy way to high power but I wanted something unique. So after securing some workspace with NickZ32 the tear down began. Its been slow going but continues to move forward. Will provide updates as I pull together photos and details

So after 21 years of ownership the next stage of my journey with the Z has have finally started when the car was stripped down and shipped off for complete glass out re-spray at the Club's favourite bodyshop. The garage feels *very* empty! Later in the year the car will undergo the final stage of significant development in my ownership with the "bolt-on" engine upgrades I have been collecting together over time. More about that later on. My goal is for the car is to be OEM+ in the sense that the modifications and enhancements made to the car have always been carried out with the overriding aim of preserving as much as possible of the…

History & Context So since selling up my last 300zx in 2016, I've been out 'sowing my wild oats' with other, more modern sports cars in the mistaken assumption that newer (and more expensive) cars were obviously better! I had owned my last 300zx for 10yrs and during that time my friends had overtaken me in the prestige of their machinery and I was sold on the idea that the grass would be greener on the other side. However after a few years of driving and owning a range of other cars I came to the conclusion about 2yrs ago that it wasn't flat out speed, modern tech or price tag that really excited me but the analogue driving experience and quirks that I'd come to …

So this is my project rewind. The OLD mission To restore a 94 UK manual TT back to bone stock. However the car will be run as an OEM+ to include larger wheels and a double din radio with OEM part ready to be refitted for the right occasion. The NEW mission To build my dream OEM+ 300zx History The car was registered in May 94 and given as a company car to a banker. In May 96 the banker bought the car outright and covered a total of 94073 miles. Throughout these years the car was serviced at a local Nissan dealer. In December 2001 a registered forum user bought the car. At this point the owner, Mark, had intended to keep the car and …

After many years of thinking/ dreaming/ window shopping.. it happened 😇 This is officially my 300zx trip , 2+2 , auto . 136400km on the clock full Nissan Japan service history. Work vs xx wheels and a kakimoto cat back exhaust . And working AC.

  6. As with most projects and rebuilds, they all start in the same place, mine was no different. However, this isn’t truely the start of my forever ongoing Z project. I’ve owned this car (my second Z) since 2008 when I purchased it from a former member. For the first 5 or 6 years I did the usual mods with suspension parts and basic bolt ons. For reasons unknown, whilst running stock boost, piston 5 cracked a ring land during a track day at Castle Coombe. A forged build and a remap later all was well until a sunny October’s day 2013 at Bruntingthorpe killed that engine with what at the time was a suspected head gasket failure at 181mph..... And this is where I shall start my …

So I've been around the Zed scene in one model or another for almost 15 years now. Last owned was a 1995 Slicktop which I bought on a bit of a whim. Unfortunately it was a terrible time to own a project due to have new born twins when I bought it, doing a huge house extension shortly after, and then having another set of twins. Basically didn't have the time to dedicate to it so ended up selling. A number of years later, no more wiser, and a bit of a tragedy later and I ended up buying another Z32. Most people here will know this car, and know it's had a hard life. Over 15 years in the UK, never undersealed, and a sketchy service history for the past 5 or so. …

Going to start a journal for my300zx manual TT import. It's quite Rough. But salvageable ( although I have seen people brake ones in much better condition.) Looking forward to it. already had a look over it. Bought it without seeing it move under its own steam. The engine sounds sweet and by all accounts the engine has been reported to have some forged items put in, with larger turbos and stuff. Although no documentation to back this up, but it's evident it isn't standard. I will look forward restoring it.

Hi All, I mentioned in various previous posts that I would start a thread about my new and first 300zx. I’ve copy and pasted an introduction that I posted in the newbie section a while back (with some updates) so you can get an overview of the car; Almost two months ago at the spur of the moment I went and bought a lovely Jap spec blue 300zx TT Manual LWB with 98k miles. An over view of the cars spec is; - 390bhp tuned by ProTuner - stock turbos and internals - 800cc injectors, selin twin maf conversion - Kakimoto mid and rear section exhausts - aftermarket turbo elbows, downpipes, front pipes etc. - 98 spe…

I was searching for about 6 months before I found this Z32 for sale. Doesn’t have any written history with it but it was imported around 2004 as shown registered in January 2005. It’s only had 3 previous keepers. It’s LWB, Twin Turbo, manual targa too currently showing 93,000 miles roughly but apparently the first 70k is actually KM and the last 20k in miles so approximately 63k miles although I can’t verify this. The previous owner to me had the car about 3 years and had the sills and arches replaced due to rust and then had it resprayed in a Mercedes Black. It was originally black anyway. The car has some Brembo brakes off an Evo 8 on the front and a large win…

The rebuild has finally started today and so far in a few hours I've managed to completely strip the interior. Next job on my list is to get both the bumpers, tailgate and bonnet off. After that i'll work on the body panels and stripping down the engine.

Finally getting around to making a thread for my Z. Wanted to get one going for my own sake just to track the history and changes on the car. Currently the car is off the road and has been for the last year as I started a business in January 2021 and needed a sensible vehicle for that, not to mention not being able to afford running a weekend car while trying to get a business off the ground but at least I managed to save myself from selling it! It was my daily driver for a period prior to going back into hibernation thought. It has undergone some changes while it has sat in my garage, I think not being able to drive it tends to drive you to fettle! It is probably go…

So after nearly now 15 years plus of having both Zeds off the road, I'm Determined to get one back on the road this year. Been out of the Club so long and I'm guessing lots of the old parts places are no longer in existence. ( I was sad to see Mike Freeny had passed) spent many a long phone call with him. Zed tec which I know has finished was the start of the demise of my Zed been on the road. Having gone there for a forged and balance engine and upgraded gt28turbos.unothodox pullies. ported and polished head. When I finally got it back. It had a trip to john DIxon for a Greddy profic E-01 boost controller. Cant praise John enough he transformed the car and was very help…

  16. Took many items off my engine and have sent them to a metal polisher just a few miles from me and below are the results of his and my work :cool3:. This is my aftermarket radiator bracket, it was or is stainless steel but now highly polished. The SLICKTOP plate was made by TwinTurboRich and I've had this powder coated and bolts on with some stainless steel allen capped nuts and bolts. This is my Tokyo Auto cooling panel, original these come in silver or blue from z32-zone in Japan, mine was silver and the polisher told me it was anodized but now polished up as you can see. The logo was originally silver and riveted on, I drilled these out and had it p…

As some of you have seen my Z gave up on me yesterday. After three years of it going from garage to garage, it lost power and covered half of Aberdeen in white sweet smelling smoke. Quickly pulled up and had my missus pull me back home. It has been years since i have been pulled by a rope and it is not a pleasant experiance. With the help of neighbours pushed back into the garage. Quick inspection today after work the front of the engine bay is all covered in fresh coolant. All hoses still secure on radiator and the hardpipes going to engine dry. Small green puddle inside radiator fan. Feels like the pressure have built up so high that it just started spraying through rad…

Hi all, The car arrives in less than a day. This whole week has really dragged by, I can’t wait to get stuck in tomorrow. It’s been sat in a garage for 18 years, the sills and underneath of the car looked sound. Plan for the worst, hope for the best. I’m fully aware there could be hidden issues due to the age of the car. Once it’s up on four jacks I’ll be able to get some pictures up. Major issues are, bodywork and the engine... I have quite a list of things that need addressing and I know that list will get longer the deeper I dig. For now, some of these are… Find out why the car was running at auction and did not when it arri…

After owning this car for 4 years, things have certainly moved on in the last few months. Firstly, just before lock down, I went up and collected my interior from Si (this is now sat in my front room all covered up waiting to be fitted. Still have some wiring bits to finish off first. I then decided I could not put such a lovely interior into a car that needed so much TLC, so pulled the trigger and had it resprayed. The colour choice was long and exhausting, going from all the solid greys that are so in at the moment, to a Porsche chalk and even avalanche grey. I have watched here and seen other's pain trying to decide on a colour that compliments the cars natural li…

Hi, thought I should start a new thread, and try and collate all the various work that the car has had since my 9 years of ownership. I cannot believe its been 9 years! and finally my Zed is going to get the respray she deserves. I have spent the last few weeks deliberating on what colour to go for, and have decided to stick with red. At the moment that's as far as its got though, the shortlist of reds is still at 4/5 options, so more pouring over photos and visiting the odd showroom to help with the decision process. Many thanks to those of you who supplied photos and information on colours, wheels etc. I will add some key previous threads to this post, along w…
