Currently my zed has no front indicators which needs fixing. The issue is that i have varient versions of zed parts that are not compatable so i'm looking to see whats needed and from where. My zed is a 1996 which had the older style front end. It is now fitted with a 99 spec original front bumper and new front indicator housings. my issue is that the bulb holders are different for the new housings and the plug on the loom is also different. I have found a harness adaptor that fits my currently loom but the bulb required is a double element and i can't find it anywhere apart from conceptz. Below is a few pictures of the various parts i have, …

Minus the engine I was testing all the electronics in my zed today and apart from a few blown bulbs my zed has developed a fault with the operation of the drivers window. It simply won't move. The passenger side one works perfectly and can be controlled from either door, also the door lockout button works. When you try the window switch you can hear some sort of motor clicking but it sound more like the lock actuator rather than window motor. To confirm this I removed the door card and disconnected the wires for the motor after which pushing the button I can hear the same actuator noise coming from the right side of the drivers door. All other el…

The Zed over the past day has refused to start. Until now it started within a second of turning the key. Now it turns over but refuses to start. Smells of fuel and the battery is six months old. I use the Zed 3-6 times a week to commute to work etc., but I suspect the starter motor has just died. Thoughts?

Had a pm recently asking about heater matrix job and so did a search on my data base of job photo`s and came across a set of pics for a matrix swap, I most likely did around 200 of these and have covered this a good few times here. That said with new members and owners joining maybe of interest for them and a reminder for the more "seasoned members" Today I still see some garages take out the dashboard to do this job, which is simply nuts...very accessible with the seat removed and doable in a morning, that said I got it down to around one hour but do not expect that on your first attempt, little tricky 8 mm fixing around the back of the pipes against the bulkhead,…

Out in the zed a few weeks ago and decided to put a little foot down to gain the experience of the fan belt giving up the ghost !! Recovery it was:wacko: I'm just wondering who to buy the belts off now as i don't trust fleabay. Had steam bellowing on the upper left of the rad so it may be a new rad also. cheers

  8. Boost controller all neatly wired up and working. I'm going to be setting the gain and hi/low boost settings this weekend. I've had a look at Legrath's tutorial but wondering what everyone's got theirs set to? I've had an EBC sat in my cupboard for years but only just got round to installing it. Heaven knows why I hadn't done it sooner! Boost jets are out, doing it the correct way.....although some would argue that a Haltech or Link with boost function would be the correct way. I don't want to increase performance (yet). That'll be after I fit 740cc injectors and have it rolling roaded on Nistune, so I'll be sticking to 14.5psi (1bar). So shouldn't feel massivel…

I have noticed that the black plastic on the trims either side of the windscreen is peeling on a lwb Twin Turbo. I believe they are expensive to replace so wondered if anyone had refurbished them to look like new by either shot blasting or chemically stripping and repainting the remaining chrome?

Chaps/ladies Ever since I’ve bought my car the reverse lights have never worked - bulbs all ok as is fuse etc Bought a reverse light switch last week and went to do it tonight As the old saying goes what a pig of a job. I’ve been on it 3 hours and still haven’t been able to do it. It’s definitely a faulty switch as I plugged the new one in and the lights work I can just about get a 19mm ring spanner on but there’s no way I can turn it whilst the car is on axle stands The switch is in such a bad position and every time I apply force the spanner slips Is there an easier way or tool to remove the switch? Or does the box need to be dropped Any help and advice…

Part required is a 3mm LES, I got mine from eBay. First you will need to remove the hazard switch from the air con pod. This is easy enough, remove the button by slipping a small blade screwdriver down the sides of the nob and ease the nob up. Now you successfully tugged your nob off you need to remove the pod face. Undo the two screws on the underside of the pod and ease the face off the pod. Unscrew the hazard switches two retaining screws, move the switch to gain access to the back and release the wiring harness. You now have the switch removed and need to split it to get to the grey lamp holder. Slide your small blade screwdriver down the si…

I’m booked in for an mot and whist doing my pre test inspection I noticed the near side main beam isn’t working. I’ve changed the lamp and checked the fuse but it’s still not working. I’m looking at the relays but the near side relay seems different to the offside so I’m reluctant to swamp them over to check it’s working. I’ve attached a picture of the fuse box for you guys to check everything looks as it should. Any ideas? Cheers, Chris.

  14. my 1990 300zx na broked down towed it to Auto repair shop and found out the engine needed to be replaced. So I found an engine with 80,000 miles. Few days after shop picked up the engine they told me it was the wrong engine and to return it. I called the seller of the engine back & he claimed the engine was the right engine and the shop didn't know what they were talking about and all it needed was some simple changes. The shop & engine seller went back & forth about the engine until finally the shop suggested I hire the seller to make the necessary engine changes which I did. The seller made the changes some which the shop said was impossible like cha…

Has anybody looked into Fuel Cooling in order to release a few extra BHP for not a lot of effort ?? If so, what did you do?, Im thinking of introducing a separate air cooler somewhere , somehow, I also wonder what power could be released with sufficient cooling, or even charge cooling on the fuel system. Thanks. Sayers

There will be no spirited driving. I believe the ecu will go on a basic map and will probably overfuel a bit. Should i worry about something? Car is uk tt manual. I have a choice of jdm tt manual, uk tt auto and mines ecus. Is there a particular one i should rather use?

Got a message from Jimmer that my car passed its MOT this morning ! He's just putting the final bits of trim back on and it's done !!!! I'm so excited to get it back ! In equal measure I'm gutted I can't get to Beaulieu.....apparently I have a family event I'm obliged to attend which is far more important. So I'm looking forward to the Boxhill-to-Brighton run as my first outing. Pics to follow when it's home.

Is there a drainage hole in the boot hatch? I ask because after cleaning my car I alway have a pool of water gather on the bottom off side corner of the rear screen. I can literally spend hours drying up the gathered water only for it to repool seconds later. However if I open the hatch a good amount of water then run off the back making me think there’s a blocked brain hole. Is this a common issue? Cheers, Chris.

Hi I am looking at a Z which has as an advisory "metal hydraulic clitch pipe corroding" I dont know what is involved in getting that rectified, is it an item that can be replaced easily or is it a big and costly job, any insight into this would be most welcome. I am not a mechanic so would not be doing this myself but would like to know what I might be in for.

I have been looking to remove the HIDs ready for my upcoming MOT but cannot get the normal bulbs to work... I have removed all of the HID wiring and left with a 2 pin socket and installed H3 bulbs. I have plugged the cable form the bulb into both of the terminals but it doesn't work and cannot find any pictures of the normal wiring / connection to know what is wrong. I am guessing a bit of wiring was removed but cannot remember as it was 4 years ago. Any advise?

Just in case anyone has any suggestions to help me before I order some injectors. So the morning of the AGM the car started up missing on the front two cylinders which were previously running fine. First cleaned the injector plugs, no joy. Ive swapped coils and the problem persisted, checked spark and the spark is strong, pulled the plugs and they are dry and white leading me to believe it has indeed got no fuel. So I checked the resistance of the injectors and they are within spec at 12-13.8 ohms. Voltage also checks out at 12.8V (early style injectors btw). So although they are within spec the cylinder still has no fuel in it so may just put some new i…

  24. If I want to take power from the clock to run a feed to my EBC, which are the best wires to take that feed from? Assuming the black being the ground, but there are two lives, a switched live from the ignition and a permanent live from the battery. I'm guessing I'll need the switched live? Would the Greddy Profec B lose its settings however if the switched live was used?
