General Discussions - 300ZX Related

My speedo, odometer, hicas and power steering have all stopped working together, when i turn the ignition off and back on i get 16 short flashes of the power light, then if it turn it off again and back on i get ther power steering nd hicas back for a short while. Any ideas? as im stumped, and im only a little bloke and its hurting my arms driving it like this.

Finally got my beastie back after extensive work done on the engine and new turbos fitted as well (7 weeks). All done at falcon engineering (top place highly recommended). Only thing is i'm not allowed over 3.5k rpm for 500 miles, but who cares, its just a pleasure to have it back and see everyones expression on their faces when they see it, fook i love this car to bits.

OK, its a grey box, hanging from its wiring harness from under the centree pf the dash hanging out into the drivers footwell. It has a metal bracket, but isnt screwed to anywhere (obviously), it has loads of duct tape wraped around it. It has a speaker looking thing in the corner. Id guess its about 3cm x 7cm x 11cm Theres a label on it, and this is exactly what it says: CONT ASSY S/L [P with a circle around it] 28540 6IV00 ET631 12V 008 JIDECO 008 K00827 Any ideas what this mystery box is!? OK then, not sure if this should be in technical section or not, so apologies in advance to Nico/Craig if i have posted in wrong section. Cut to chase..... Since I've had my Z, there has never been a radio in it. So I decide to get a radio and stick it in. Pioneer DEH-P6100R is the head unit and I also bought a harness adapter lead too!! Got it home, plugged it all in (found an earth for radio) and switched it on. Head unit came alive, but no sound out of speakers. I have got wiring colours off Andy's site, and set about trying to trace speakers using 1.5v battery and watching cone to move. No luck what so ever. Connected a speaker direct to head …

I've got a 93'tt 2+2 94000 miles and it clocks 175@approx6500-6700rpm (manual)on a slight down hill and 165mph coming back the other way (slight incline)the car is stock to the best of my knowledge (had it about 6 months)i thought they were speed limited???155mph and its only producing 5psi boost dodgy wastegate soon to be fixed(although boost gauge standard one shows 14psi)so the question is,is this about right for everyone or as mine been modded previously?and just for interest how fast does your's go.no lies please with standard wheels,gearing and rev limit the cars good for 190.3mph theorectly P.S it took about 4 miles to get to the speed!!

Well the time has come for me to sell my Z, due to getting engaged and family comittments, I don't want to sell but I must. It's a Uk spec, turbo, all normal stuff, air con, elec windows etc. Manual gearbox. Had a full respray in mystic blue, with new Z centre spoiler. 117,000 miles on clock. Had a nearly new engine fitted at 114,000. New clutch being fitted as we speak. Leather seats and cloth interior. Stainless steel exhaust from cat back. Poly bushes all round. Have receipts for over £12,000 of work. Front bumper needs slight attention to paint work as there is some cracking and a few chips from where some idiot reversed into me, no serious dammage just…

I have found a car in Romford that I think is perfect, however none of my mates know anything about Z's. It is a 94 TT and he is asking for 7500. I was wondering if anybody is going to be around this area either this weekend or next?

ive got 2 printers that ive been told to dispose of...a hp 4m which is smallish and a whacking great hp 5si printer which is a heavy duty jobby seems a shame to throw them out free to whoever wants them

Hi Jay, got the stickers, thanks! They look great. Just one question though.....how do you put them on? Am I right in saying peel off the paper layer, stick the thin sticky layer with the letters on the window, then peel the thin sticky layer off leaving the letters?

i use the origional nissan spark plugs(platinum i think) when you start upgrading ya zed engine do you change ya plugs to lowered temp plugs? how often do ya change the plugs ? the nissan ones i have at the moment are so i was told, will last the full life of the engine,is this right? how much do you pay for urs?

I got my log book back from D.V.L.A today, all seemed well untill i looked at the engine size they seem to think it is 29988cc (30 litre engine) how can D.V.L.A be so stupid? I wish it was true cos if it was i'd have 2800bhp!! It makes me smile cos i've had two Z32's first one registered as 3000cc and this one as 29998cc, when they are all 2960cc. There is no wonder there is so many dodgy motors on the road if the D.V.L.A are so clueless!! Can't wait till i have to tax it!!

hi guys,today while talking to a mate at a garage,one of his mates commented on my car that my trackin was out? i then went and asked him why he thought this,he said that my front tyre was feathered,as i havnt a clue what he was on about ,and im not that sure that he did either,can anyone explain wat he meant? he then went on to explain that he wouldnt need to put my car on the ramp,as he could sort my trackin out on a jack(after he had looked at the wheel arch and apparently found my track rod ends) now recently im sure i read about trackin and i think it said only take to someone who no's there zeds as trackin is a lot more complicated on our cars? can anyone…

I've got LOADS of nuts, bolts, clips and screws from the 300ZX TT I've dismatled. You can have about a litres bottle of various bits and pieces for a tenner including postage. Useful if you've got one of those Z's with bits missing. Thanks Andy (01634 221783 or geewhizz@onetel.net.uk)

Had this great idea for a subject - the A50 to Nottingham is good for high speed -very straight and good surfaces - but watch out for unmarked police cars !
