Hi All, I took my ECU out last night and found my chip had been replaced at some point (though not socketed...?) Anyway, the chip and the ECU casing both have a label handwritten with 124T AT 7,500. I'm presuming that means auto with 7.5K rev limit. My car is a Jap Auto 90 - does this chip sound correct? Recent posts have suggested that gear changing will be odd if the wrong chip ECU combination is used... My spec is as follows ECU 23 23710 41P13 A18-000 M05 0517 Chip 124T AT 7500 Can anyone help please by verifying this is right or wrong? Cheers + TIA! RobH

You're right, clean engines do go faster! For everyone else, I was getting v paranoid about my local Mandela not being as switched on about Zs as they should be at their prices. But who could I get to check things over? I don't live as far north as andyduff, SE are already full of exciting work, etc etc. So (despite his bad taste in shorts) off I toddled to Jeff at Zedworld. Throttle bodies cleaned, all-over inspection, suspension check, timing check, ECU reset and a bunch of all the other stuff Mandela should do (but can't be arsed / don't know about) or owner should do (but I am even less competent than Mandela). Car is better (throttle bodies are a m…

I work in engine lubricants for Shell so I know that Shell's top-tier oils are as good or better than any other oils out there - Castrol's Magnatec adverts are very good but Shell oils have the smae properties and we have compared the two and Shell Helix Ultra is better. Shell is a very conservative company, and is not very good at blowing it's own trumpet or creating persuasive adverts. Also - Optimax petrol could potentially pay for itself by giving you extra mpg and greater power. Did you know that standard petrol in Japan is superior to even our Super (98 RON) petrols. Standard there is 100 RON ! Our standard is 95 RON. The quality of the petrol you use also affe…

Hi Ya Guys and Gals. Was just wondering if you would be interested in a BIG meet for all us NISSAN (Datsun) owners sometime this year. Have put a thread up on the GTR site. Please have a look: http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/showthread.php?threadid=3010&referrerid=8 I attended the NISMO Festival last year in Japan and it was BRILLIANT with all the Nissans and Datsuns their. Would be great to do it over here :-) . Would like your thoughts please. Bye for now. glen

Okay just found out why my car clunks when stopping..my wishbone is split where the two connecting bolts go where the tension rod bar attaches. Okay. Suggestion..can I make a plate and drill two holes for the tension rod bolts to pass through and tack weld the plate to the wishbone or better to just replace the damn wishbone. Say this cos the car is in the garage tomorrow for roll bar bushes and steering rack bushes. Thanks St Leicester

This would be even funnier if it wasn't true ------------------

Hi After a passenger side lower wishbone..it's where the main tension road connects as mines split where the two bolts go through..hence some nasty tugging and clunking/click noises. How much anyone, where and how soon? Thanks

I need to replace my rear spoiler and was thinking carbon fiber would look really nice. Does anyone know where I should look. I know Avalon and Stillen do rear spoilers with CF inserts but I want one that is the same as factory except made out of or looking like carbon fiber. Thanks for any tips

My 200SX is faster than an MR-2 and it weighs more ! The optimum engine size depends on the weight of the car and the performance criteria - it's all down to physics. The 300ZX is not a rally car, hence it has a 3-litre TT engine for high top speed and lots of power. A 2-litre engine is usually better for racing (eg. Subaru Impreza) because the car is lighter and won't go at excessive speeds. A bigger engine provides less proportional power to increased mass, but the optimum engine size depends on the car's overall mass and what the performance criteria are. Engine size is a limiting factor, but engine design also plays a big part.
