I only got my car back Friday night (wehay!!!)... I'm trying to run it in all carefully so I've been driving around in the middle of the night. 3am, I'm coming out of Rochford in a 30 limit and a taxi catches me up. I can tell he's getting the right hump cos I'm pulling off roundabouts slow as f*ck... he's up my ass, looking around me... then we get to a straight and he blasts past. A couple of hundreds metres up the road I see 2 flashes as he's caught by a gatso. Yeah, you really don't wanna get stuck behind me a the mo. This is just out of curiosity really as I will be quite happy if I can just keep my Zed running happily and get the heating fixed :rolleyes: but is there anywhere that explains what all this stage I, II, III etc business means? Dave

Sorry to bring up the topic of insurance yet again. I just paid about £1500 on Z insurance, if i were to sell it within the next month would i be able to get any back? I always used to pay insurance monthly and thus would just stop the payments when i sold the car but would an insurance company actually send a cheque back?? Just seems hard to imagine.

Anybody ever had Diamondbrite treatment? Is it any good / worth the money? Thanks in advance Mike

My clutch is on its way out and I just bought a Jim Wolf Technology uprated disc on its own for cheap (ebay), would I be able to use a new standard release bearing and plate or would I have to buy a Jim Wolf Technology one and does anyone know the best place to get one ? Cheers, Olly. (olly300zx)

I was checking inside my inner wing as i've a problem with my Clutch booster... There appears to be a box that has a filter in it. I took this apart and it was soaked in dirty oil!!! What is this, should i replace the filter, could this be the cause of the Clutch problem (goes stiff)? Dan

Having given up on ever getting the Z running ok i've got a few bits that might be of use to people. Ok, I like a joke but this post is a serious one. Someone at work had their car stolen over the weekend and they nicked it by the recent 'craze' the police were saying. They open up your letterbox and look through to see what keys are within reach (with a stick or pole I suppose) then try every Ford, Nissan in the road until....bingo...they get into the matching car to the keys just stolen. I know as soon as I get in my front door, I just throw my keys on the side.......(but not anymore!) so its just a little warning to anyone who does the same. Cheers,

Does any one know the correct part numbers for standard front shocks , Nissan has about 3 different sets , the cars is an import but as i understand it the UK shocks will fit and are generally better , i.e firmer

How much is this going to cost me ? Has anyone changed one of these themselves ? Mine is "buzzing" like a hornet at about 3000 revs. DIY or garage job ?

I'll be buying anothr Z today hopefully. Not for breaking before anyone asks, it's not been in the country long and it's an NA , but it's a manual 2+0 so should be fun. I intend to use this while my car is in the paint shop and in SE getting it's headers sorted. But first I ned to get it on the road. I would really appreciate speaking to anyone who has registered their 300zx themselves as I don't really know where to start. Any tips guys and girls ? Will put some pictures up tonight if I buy it. Hello. Does anyone know what 6,000rpm in 5th gear equates to in Kph? Not that I was going that speed or anything :) Also, I got a new clutch about 2000k's ago and since then my gearbox has been really loud, except for 3rd gear. It sounds like there's nothing between me and the spinning gears but 3rd sounds all nice and quiet (can't hear anything). If that makes sense. It doesn't crunch or anything. hmmm...?

I have a friend, who to save embarassment I will call him,D Williams. Not thats too obvious, so I will call him Dave W. My friend "Dave W" brakes make a really bad squeeling noise when driving and I am sure they are so bad they still squeel when he is stopped. Its the noise of metal on metal really high that dogs howl for miles and I am sure I have seen sparks out fly at times. My question is this. How can I make him put his new pads and discs on which he has had for some time? I had to drive infront of him last week and it was really embarassing people kept looking at me thinking it was me. So can you give my friend some insentive to fix his brakes. Hehe…

I've just bought my second 300ZX, which appears to be up to scratch, with FSH (inc. Japanese etc). It had an MOT just before I bought it, and was fitted with new pads. The previous owner has advised me that the loud sqeaking noises when breaking have only been there since the new pads were fitted. Is it possible that it is simply because the pads are new, or is it likely to be something else???

Hello people ...........today i have found in the back of my car(import 90 manual non turbo) a funny looking remote with one button and a ariel like a remote control car has that pulls out.......when pressing this button the ignition lights and ecu check comes on breifly then goes off....i have a cobra cat 1 alarm on but i dont think it has anything to do with it .....its got japenese writing on it and ( R60 ).... i thought this might start the car but it doesnt , the lights just come on then off....any ideas? Having gone down the route I am sure most of the people on here have, trying to fit a jack under the car, driving it on to bits of wood to raise it, or up the curb for the same effect, I went to halfords the other day and bought an inflatable jack (stop laughing) and to my surprise it worked a treat. Its basically a cylindrical bag, which you blow up using the exhaust pipe. Goes under the car flat as a pancake and when full (book says 50sec, but I got impatient and revvved the engine) it lifts up to 3 tonnes at a height of 21 inches. 45 of your best english pounds at a halfords near you.:cool:

Hi all, I currently have some lovely Volk Racing wheels which sadly snagged the brake calipers when the previous owner of the car had them fitted, so they now have spacers to solve the problem, but as a result are held on with the slightest amount of thread imaginable. I'm therefore wondering if I can get longer studs fitted on the hubs. This may be only a partial solution, though, as the spacers are sufficiently thick to fully separate the wheel from the hub and so the wheel has no purchase on the hub other than the studs at present. I wonder if there is some kind of a kit I can use that extends the hub as well? Any one have any ideas? I'd be sad to have t…

Anyone out there who's using a super AFR and made good improvements tell me what settings they use and what chip? I've heard good results (MAC1) and figure if I know roughly what enrichment / leaning you're using I can adjust my fuel map to match it and see what happens. Tweaked the timing map a bit and that made a real difference, but all the maps I've seen for fuelling are really pretty similar. Particularly at the low/mid rev range nobody seems to adjust it much from stock. Dunno if this is because stock is V. good or more likely because more mid range torque dosen't affect the bhp figure that they use to sell the chips. CheerZ

hi all if i gutted the cats on my non turbo 1991 z would i achieve much of an increase in hp and would it effect the emissions to the extent of not passing mot which is due in june cheers cully z:)
