Guest dazuti
How much is this going to cost me ? Has anyone changed one of these themselves ? Mine is "buzzing" like a hornet at about 3000 revs. DIY or garage job ?
Guest Robtor
Very DIY. There's a little panel undre the spare wheel, undo the 4 bolts holding it on and you'll be able to see the plate which the pump is mounted on (its an in tank pump). Get the 2 hoses off (watch out for fuel squirting, leave over night or run without fuel pump relay to get rid off pressure) by twisting with pliers and pulling, or try and get some wd40 under the hoses. Now just undo the bolts (8 or so) holding it in, careful not to ruin the heads, and voila. u have the pump. Just do the opposite to replace. Guest dazuti
Thanks, I'll be having a go I think. How much are fuel pumps ? Where's the best place to get one ?
Guest TT Tim
Darren, I have a spare you can try if you like. Just to double check that it is the pump and not the FPCU. HTH Tim
Guest dazuti
Thanks, that would be appreciated. When would be good for you ? We should meet just to say "Hi" anyway as we live so close. (not on the M20 though eh :) ) I think that it is the pump though as the symptoms match up with several twinturbo.net posts. Car seems to go OK still but I guess it could go at any moment. Is there any issues with fuel pressure when a pump is on the way out ?
Guest AndyZ
Just to let you know that I can supply you with a 2nd hand fuel pump if you end up needing one. If its buzzing then its 99% certain its on its way out. I have a FPR also if required.
