  1. I think the same can be said about the screen washer motors, i couldn't get one of mine to seal so i visited a breaker and took off 2 x motors, one worked straight off but the other didn't, with 12v bench power applied i spun the shaft by hand and got an encouraging sign of life, more of the same and eventually it 'cleaned' up and ran perfectly. For the op, the swb breaker visited does have still its folding mirrors and they are both in the 'closed' position, so my guess is these will work perfectly. I can obtain for you if you like for £30 the pair i would guess at, tiny bit of shipping on top £5 - food for thought.

Although these are solid, i've been a bit embarrassed of the surface rust on my bumper brackets on a few pics i have put up, so today i took them off and got to work with my rotary tool getting rid of all the loose stuff, it was particularly bad as you'd imagine where the arch liner attaches. Then i think these brackets were what rust eater was invented for :yes:. I'll get the primer and paint on them next, they'll be then good to go for the next 22 years.

  7. That attaches at the back of the headlight bucket to the side bumper support bracket, it also has some grommets in it for the arch liner screws. EDIT: Sorry, it's the front bumper bracket support that attaches near the intercooler, there is another bracket support and that's the one i mention above with the liner grommets.
  8. You are correct it is a threaded grommet, i've bought a Toyota one for that location, mine too were missing. I'll update later with a pic/more help if no one else furnishes you.
  9. Good to see the version S stated/used because people think it's more akin to the years nearer 1999, you've put a ? on one of the 95's.............i believe mine to be a version S - being a Nov 1994.
  10. I have the plug Lee, i must of looked at it not long ago as well because i tidied this area and added some support brackets, never thought much about it though.
  11. I've got all my front end off, if i remember i'll have another look but pretty sure i've not seen this on my S4, wonder if i've the plug dangling.

I didn't realize the pic you put up was yours Andrew, so sorry to disrespect your car but i think the bolt type heads are too 'heavy duty' to use there, i know the ones in the bottom will match head wise but these go into proper 6mm threads, whereas the higher up two are self tappers as you well know.

Yes i am aware of those, it's one of the things i look for when i visit a breaker, take it the large duct's bulge needs cutting out and another length is required or does it just marry up perhaps with foam as the gasket ? And i notice the 2 x screws which are the 10mm socket type are wrong......have i got that correct, they should be like the radio console screws with the flange washer? It's ambient lighting :tt2:. I still have a few bits here and there but it's been quite refreshing throwing out stuff i have done over the years, i put the instrument cluster back in yesterday and thought how tidy that all area is, to what it once was like with wires all over the place :nono:.

Tell you these vents are a pig to fit, the larger one especially having to feed it at the back of the radio, anyway it's in now and bolted up, it does need a plastic fastener to attach it to the narrower (hidden) foot vent one, this holds it all in position and therefore the end piece with the foam fits snugly and square. The small 'n' shaped vent coming off to the left hand side of the pic was not factory fit on my series 4, (i fit the l/h one a while back) whether this is a series thing or the fact i have manual aircon i do not know but another upgrade from a series 1 :).
  17. So with my above purchase of a brand new console, i do not want to drill any holes near the gear stick for an alarm led or for a fog light switch like i had previously. Couple that with my 'a' pillar gauges which were never seated correctly or level to the eye and there were far too many 'added' on wires over the years, 5 to a grounding point for instance :no:. All now sorted over several days, the gauge trim now as a concealed screw in it's centre as the whole assembly sagged, the gauges are individually siliconed in so cannot move and are square, far less wiring is going on, managed to make some room and get the relocated fog light switch at the very top seated nice and flush and finally in my wisdom i've now got both my blue immobilizer led and the red alarm one at the very bottom shining clearly through the glass, much happier now with this area.
  18. The left button for minor adjustment....well both actually, reminds me of the pop up sleepy eyes i fit to my MK1 MX5 about 10 years ago :thumbup1:.

You'd be better sourcing another complete mirror, look a bit lightweight those motors, what if it takes an eternity to fold the mirror in after all your fiddling, you're barking up the wrong tree imo. Think you need to test what you have on the car, not that difficult to just hook them back up is it ?
  20. I own a facom 1/4 drive and i pretty much use it everyday for the lighter stuff, imo a brand worth consideration.
  21. I've got a half inch socket set from Halfords which is not overly big and i use it weekly, probably before 'Advanced' was invented and i've had it 30 years in March '17, i've replaced 2 sockets in all that time...that is all and lost zero :thumbup1:. Don't think it owes me anything.
  22. Oh do tell, a lot of us use LA Autos, based in Shrewsbury as it happens, now i cannot speak for others but to use a specialist would of course be preferable :whistling:.

  24. My gear console was out of stock but even that was delivered into Stoke from Japan and then onto me and all this took exactly 3 weeks. Buy from the states and it can take 2 weeks anyhow, more expensive in the first place, then shipping, plus the uncertainty over duty, etc, i think the term here is 'go figure'. Just received this personal email from them........ 'Hi Andy, Thanks for taking the time to write, I'm very glad we met expectations. Z32 parts will be a bit hit and miss, as I'm sure you've found, but we'll always endeavour to find anything we are asked for, whether it's in the UK, Europe or Japan, and keep prices under RRP.
