Turbosport Ltd
Both prices seem really impressive, However there a FEW companies out there who have specialised in Zeds for years and supplying/fitting turbo's, average price from the quickest company at doing this job, cos they have done the most is £2,100, so a big difference in price from Turbosport, who i assume no one here as ever heard off, cos if they had, we would have heard by now, so if you go this route with them, you may end up getting what you pay for, be careful. On a side note about the tubs themselves it's really the same thing as above, however if they fail for any reason quite quickly, which some companies ones are known to do, it's money shelled again, so little now can cost more later. cheers smithy

Rolling Road...2004
Well it seems Thor could be a popular choice then, not way down south and not way up north, it's about as in the middle as we'll get it and with a company who appear to know their stuff, gees they even made reference to the problem between auto's and manuals on the rollers, must be a first :D don't suppose as head honcho Ajay yer fancy seeing what they can do mid Feburay for us ? cheers smithy:cool:

Steering wheel BOSS
There are a few different types, if it's a boss made by any of the well known sterring wheel cpmpanies then it's got NO hicas, only companies i am aware off as i used to supply them that do a Zed specific boss to include hicas OR cruise control some do both are Japanease companies, which are sold through Aussie land or Takakari. I think from memory there should be a copper ring on the bottom of the boss, not quite sure, but where the boss came from will give you the info you need. smithy

Never seen this before..
The rule of thumb for BOV's on a tubo car has always been on the pipes and closest to throttle body, however in the Zeds case it seems the car and the BOV's seem to perform better on the outer ones, dunno why meself. SE do theirs on the inners as well, but i know some who have removed them and moved to the outers. Would be good to see a good answer on this one. smithy

Never seen this before..
Cos, the guys over there often refer to this design as a CAI, they do it on many of their other jap cars and works well, in certain states anyway with decent weather, to combat weather in other areas they use an AEM bypass valve, this soaks up any water before entering the maf. The design is actually very good, hard to confirm from the pic, but the pipework does appear to be greatly shorter and this is a bonus, the pulsed air travelling through it is stronger giving higher voiltage readings, thus more power. The practice of moving the maf on jap turbo cars inwards is very popular in highly tuned motors for this reason alone, just a bitch to do on the Zed. Done it on a Silvia and it worked well cheers smithy

Dual Intake?
Ahh Chris, i knew there was something else you asked me about, this was it ;) anyway i looked into this in great depth after being asked by a couple guys here and after playing about on me Zed this is what i found. Using 2 tight radius silicone bends of the intake pipes, a dummy maf for the other side and 2 of the cones i was using, it was just mm away from being perfect, these cones are just marginally smaller than Blitz. So tighter bends were needed and i could see why some guys in the US cut a couple of inches of the intake pipes to make this easier, so getting 105 degree bends is not a problem (special order) this would make my cones fit, however with there being 2 of them and they are 110 quid trade, with the other bits involved it was 20 quid just to make, hmm not good and you still couldn't use Blitz. Then i thought of Apexi's very good cones and smaller, can i get a decent price on Apexi universals ? no ! So then someone about 12 days ago here posted a link to a Stillen type kit sold in the US for about $180 and i thought "Sod it" can't compete with that and gave up  do a search and you'll find it, nice bit of kit it looked too. Now the Aussie guys who have the same problem (cost of kit) have decided to use larger Maf's instead cos simply ours are susposed to Max out around the mid to high 400's being 3 inch diameter right through, the mathematical table used for working out max power of an AFM means a 4inch AFM shouldn't Max out till about 600bhp and that's what many are using now, how do you get one ? erm buy if from Aussie land as they are custom made and sold on an exchange basis, However i have looked into this as well :D as you do and it all seems quite easy, just need an old AFM to do it with, which i ain't got at the mo. So if anyones got an old AFM (knackered) i'l happily do it and test it on me own Zed. Hope all that helps, still confused ? yeah so am i :D cheers smithy

Auto with Dump Valves?
Auto's manuals. makes no difference if you want them. They fit in the same 2 places as Manulas and sound off when you lift your foot off, like manuals ;) and yes some auto guys do have them smithy

SE Nissan - my experience ptII
Now that's what i like to see Alex, if Pete R thinks it's quicker than most that have been done there and using the Tubs i sell, then i'm as happy as you, believe me  You stuck to yer guns with it after different pieces of advice and she's a winner, well done and i can't wait to see the RR figures in 4 weeks time. Just goes to show, you don't need loads of cash and hi specs to get a quick Zed these days cheers smithy

detonation with se-chip.
Dewi, chip or not you really should be at stock setting for timing, 15 degrees, any advancing or retarding of the timing to suit various loads are done through the ECU and the chip modifies this setting, never heard of a chip that operates from an altered base setting. SE usually only retard the base setting on their boost upgrades. i.e. when they bleed off from the tubs so check yer timing first. smithy

Clutch
Hi Stu, the average cost of doing the clutch at a garage on a Zed is between 180 and 220 quid, so nothing major and that's any type of garage really. It's an ideal time to skim Flywheel and some do if they have a company nearby who are able to do it for a reasonable cost, usually depends if there are any scortch marks/hot spots on the flywheel at the time of removal. cheers smithy

RR day piccies
[bob and Pete at SE are also top guys. A big thankyou goes to them as well as the absent macca for arranging a top weekend. [/b] How come Macca wern't there Mike ? shame with him arranging all this for the boys and i thought SE were doing his Turbo's intime for the run. smithy

BOV Mounting Kit
Hi Ben, this much depends on the make of BOV and where you want to fit them. If it's in place of the Re-circs then no specific kit required, if it's in the engine bay on the outer 2 pipes, then best having hard pipes made up with flanges on to suit, Blitz or HKS are easy enough to do, Turbo XS can be a barstard to do cos they are quite large, so again no universal kit as such cos the Zed has bog all that can be classed as universal :D Oh average price on making outer pipes up to suit in stainless is about 140 quid the pair complete with silicone sleeves and hose bands, which i can do if need be. cheers smithy

Turbo Pole Positions!
Well i could take a nice trip to SE, only it would take me 9 hours to get there, overnight accomadation, nine hours back home and possibly stay the night up Northwest on the way, oh and about 350 quid, yeah, i'll give that some serious thought   what's the point in having a car dynoed ? if it's engine ain't up to spec, the blowers on their own are hardly gonna make over 500 bhp  Gees yer try and do yer best and show what you find out after 2 people in the thread asked for differences and a certain company making claims, no probs. It's deleated :( smithy
