  1. Please please go to C+S woods, duffers is great with an engine, but hopefully very busy on mine for quite some time   smithy
  2. The mere fact that many performance and road stock cars, no longer use Viscous fans anymore, it was always something from early days and carried onto some makes/models only until the late 80's early nineties, now do yer ever see a Viscous fan ? cheers, smithy
  3. Me thinks this could be one of those conflicting ones that will just go on and on. Going back to the days when i used to go to SE with a silvia turbo, removing the shrouds was something peter very often done on cars along with fitting a new electric fan against the rad and removing the viscous one. This i had done on mine and i noticed a difference in engine noise, not much in way of power, but the fan that was set to come at certain temps, hardly ever did and bare in mind i live on island with loads of town driving, infact the fan came on about 5 or 6 times ayear, when it did the temp needle would drop DRAMATICALLY,to me proving it cooled things down really quick, i know am gonna get shot down on this, but i'd be surprised if the fan stu's fitting is hardly gonna come on at all with his rad, we'll have to wait and see. Topless yes it's from Z1 mate along with me own. cheers smithy
  4. Great idea Suzy on all counts, this all seems a bit slow compared to other arrangements for shows later on in the year. SMW1 + Jay300zx i believe are the organisors for that area, so hopefully one of them will join in with you on this. I hope to be there as a trader anyways otherwise i'd be on the plot with yers. cheers, smithy
  5. Do you have an induction kit mate ? this is the most common cause of getting damp/wet inside the AFM, it will dry out by it self, but if you want to pseed it along it means removing the headlight panel and removing the induction kit in one go (very simple) and maybe lightly blowing the warm air from a hair dryer in there. If that's the case of course, lol smithy
  6. Tim, can yer mail me please bud smithy@manx.net, you don't except pm's or emails through here and i got a job for yer mate, cheers smithy
  7. For £5.50 sure you can understand it ain't gonna have the same filtration as many other filters, you would how ever need an adapter plate to fit onto your maf to accept a 3inch necked cone, erm which i do, lol smithy
  8. BTTT, so the organiser (who is it btw)for that region may spot this, 16 weeks away that's all. smithy
  9. Cheers Mac, in the early years and Mac was the very first customer of these, i used a certain make of hose band, simply cos they polished up well, they turned out to be not very good if you wanted to remove and replace the hoses, say when cleaning the TB's, easily worn, so i changed to proper Jubilee make about 18 months ago and they are fantastic, you can remove them as often as you like. The blue inside his hose sleeves is yet another early thing, Mac's are genuine Samco sleeves and this is something Samco do, they coat an existing Blue silicone in what ever colour your having, hence why you can see it from certain angles, now and for past 2 1/2 years i've used SFS hoses and nope you don't have any blue inside of them. Sold absolutely hundreds of these kits now Worldwide, Japan, Aussie, America, Netherlands and Germany, so extremely popular when you consider HKS ones are really awefull to look at and very expensive too, i would also imagine nissan stock hoses are even dearer, who knows. Hope this explains all guys and many thanks to all those who have em sitting proudly in their engine bay, from Mac's picture you can see they make a big impact. cheers, smithy
  10. Baggins, am getting a few of these each day "HI" "TEST" "unable to deliver" are the most common titles, at the mo am just deleating all mails with this in subject box, this was reported on news the other day, comes in as 1, goes out as 30 mails to peeps in yer address book. smithy
  11. Hi Jim, yeah basically it's a HKS copy and plenty of em around the market, in fact i see em going for as cheap as 20 quid mate !! basically any filter with a 3in neck will fit our car, yer just need an AFM adapter plate, erm which i do for £35, i can also do stainless blitz stylee filters for 35 quid, so all in all an induction for 70 quid mate, either way unless you buy apexi, you need an adpter plate. cheers smithy
  12. Okay in that case would the regional organiser for that area please stand please stand up, would the .... (just a bit of slim shady, lol) smithy
  13. Guys Japfest is on May 22nd this year at Castle combe, though i didn't go last year i believe it's an excellant show with thousands in attendance, track time, club stands and many traders, most car clubs are all ready subscribed and paid for their pitch, so if we don't get our name down soon we won't get a place. Who's up for going and is there a club event organiser able to arrange ?? cheers smithy
  14. Can anyone tell me the centre opening size on the sterring wheel that fits over the spline of a Zed? id check me own, only i don't have me car at the mo :( cheers smithy
  15. Yer close mate, 76mm is 3inch... show us the link to the ebay ones Jim and if yours is knackered (or anyone elses) am after a fooked one for research. smithy
  16. the higher the number the colder the plug, am running 8's on mine, but then there Greddys, HKS usually are 8's as well. Good prices on that site though. smithy
  17. Yep average cost to add to buys from the US is roughly 20 1/4 - 22% and if delivered by Fedex they often pay the duties for you and bill you a week later, if yer don't pay, court !! smithy
  18. Well seeing as oil is literally dripping out from the Zorts tail pipes, hot or cold, looks like tubs, but we'll have to wait and see. When duffers has worked his magic on this and other bits, cross me fingers and back to Thor for a result, then i'll give yer the details, no where near Mac's spec though... smithy
  19. Well guys i set off on Friday morning 6am to arrive at Thor at 3pm as i was booked in for re-setting AVC-R and HKS AFR and also to allow Thor time to set machines up ready for the big day on saturday. Arrived spot on time having a great drive down and leaving the M6 Tol booths like a rocket. Fiddled about for a bit and started to run the engine on the Dynapak, only got as far as 3995 revs, when Whoossh !!! clouds of smoke filled everywhere, so that was that then  went to the hotel for the night and got a taxi down in the morning to see the boys and dish out some goodies i had and stayed till around 1pm as i was waiting to meet someone there, proceeded to drive back up the motorway but only got 2miles up the road and the cops pulled me over, don't think he liked the streets of Balsall common filled with so much smoke :D so phone calls to Danny, jeff tt to try and arrange a low loader whicg duly arrived and took me up to duffers place in Northwest hopefully to be repaired. Trained to Liverpool to catch the boat which we now have missed, so thought okay a night in a hotel, Wrong ! every where within a 7 mile radius all booked up cos of the football, ended up in Woolton for the night and then all day sunday in the city centre, Finally arrived home 11.45pm last night, totally skint with all the extra costs and really pissed me car never even made it asa far as a run on the saturday, only consolation is the jobs/mods i had planned for March are now coming forward slightly, so watch this space :p Big thanks go out to Danny zatt, Jeff TT, Mr Recovery, Mac 1 and of course Duffers, all who in someway hepled lighten the load of misery for me with their help and just goes to prove what the real benefits of being a club member really are  cheers guys smithy
  20. In removing the stock the TURBO pipes for the FIRST time, given the very limited space and in particular one side is worse than the other, getting the nuts/studs out is a real pain in the ass with very high risk of at least one being seized on either flange, this happens he's kinda knackered really alL for the sake of a very minor mod, however when changing the turbo's as you know makes this dead easy, surely making fitting the de-catt down pipes only now and Turbo pipes later, as his best option. smithy
  21. Oh meant to add one other thing, lol in fitting the turbo dump pipes correctly will involve removing the turbo's, which also means the engine :-( de-catt pipes is no problem to any exhaust centre. cheers smithy
  22. Leonard, as a supplier of turbo's here i can safely yes UK/Jap spec are the same, same goes for series 1 + 2, however i doubt anyone can confirm 100% as regards the US version being completly the same, as obviously no one here has a US car. I gues yer interested in buying the turbo down pipes(short ones on turbo) that are of split design as well as the main de-catt pipes, the turbo down pipes mentioned above are an improvement on the stock design, however the benefit on a mainly stock car with stock turbo's is minimal, hybrids and larger benefit the most, personally for now i would wait on those, de-catt pipes for UK exhausts are easily available from the traders here and their cost is not that much different to US ones once you take into account shipping, taxes, vat import duty etc. I can tell yer though the split dump pipes will be available to suit UK cars this year and can then be added to your UK supllied de-catt pipes, hope all this helps smithy
  23. No probs mate, will search it later, one of the infamous Blipmans recomendations. In reality though as they don't connect to the pcv valves i see no reason why not, on many many other models of cars removing the same pipes and just banging a small pipercross filter one works well. even done it meself, though not on me Zed, lol smithy
  24. Mike many guys in Aussie land actually remove these pipes altogether as they are most common reason as to oil residue in the intake pipes, other than that, yep the ole araldite will fix em firm. cheers smithy
  25. Basically if the side end tanks are black plastic with holes in for the ducts, then they are stock, all after market ones have alloy end tanks on em. smithy
