  1. Stu, did yer get your loom from courtesy ? or else where mate ? toying with the idea as me cars almost about to be a jigsaw puzzle soon anyways cheers smithy
  2. Personally i don't like em, poor grade stainless on the pipework, more creases on the bends than un ironed shirt, backboxes use a better quality stainless though so those ain't bad, but generally i would never have one. smithy
  3. Must confess i've had JWT and now got the SE one, to me the SE is good and slightly better than the JWT, think it costs 350 for an SE one of the shelf mail order, which can easily later me mapped more precise to suit yer various mods, however do a few mods first, then the chip matey. smithy
  4. Keep us posted mate as am really interested in the fronts being done, i come over to mainland about 10 times a year and each bleedin time it's a ball ache getting on/of the ferry. When yours is done can you get me quote on just fronts and how long it wil take to do. cheers smithy
  5. no mate, simply cos of cost really, bored the TB's out and matched the plenum to suit then chromed it and spent ages looking for someone in UK to extrudude hone it, but found bog all. smithy
  6. Nige, when you say competion clutch, that tends to suggest a paddle clutch which ain't the easiest ones to use, cos they are either on or there off. RPS do about 5 or 5 different models of their clutches and ONLY those that are the 6 puck plate version are in any way heavy, the sport version can hardly if at all seem any differnt to stock feel of a clutch and still good for bigger bhp. Dunno if your any near to Paul C, but a drive in his would easily confirm this mate. smithy
  7. Am with Mac on that one, bead blasting will not remove enough material and leave a smooth finish required to gain the increase, Extrude/Honed plenums will though, i believe an abrasive paste is forced through the inside taking a layer of material away and leaving it smooth, i looked for this service in UK before, no such luck though ! smithy
  8. Like it or loathe it, this guy set out to make the car he loves something unique by both the looks and the power he attained, something many of us do here, in the flesh the bodywork is very well done and a one off and as for the engine now being turbo'd, well glad to see he's seen the light  Fair balls i say. smithy
  9. I use Paypal alot paul for bussines purposes, if your already registered go with that one, the charges are levied on the receiver so they sometimes ask for a little extra to help cover it. smithy

At that price either someones either forgot the vat and some or it's the bargain of a liftime as they retail for £2250  Got em on mine car and have been brill for over 2 years. smithy
  11. It's simply a case of WHY James, yes for US and that includes me, but Luke benefits the most and WHY doesn't Luke do it himself ? no you shouldn't miss out and you wouldn't IF Luke came on here himself and did it himself, this is his fulltime job from home so WHY not ? and really your opening lines say it all mate, we are all active except Luke so Luke should miss out and other traders were NOT aware Mac would do this for all until it was queried, no complaint has been made that am aware off and therefore see this thread as futile as it's plainly obvious what the vast majority are going to say. smithy
  12. Check out Skidz in the 200sx forum for Mikalors and for full stainless proper Jubiles, made by jubilee i sell. what ones you buy bilky ? cheers smithy
  13. Under yer throttle cable cover is a very small piece approx 6-7cm long, it's that one mate. smithy

Hi mike, as you can see the ole RPS is pretty much up there mate, the sport version will do yer nicely and comes with everything you need supplied, as for Flywheels, yep skimming yer existing is reccomended or better still as a labour FREE mod (which ain't bleedin common) an after market lite weight flywheel will certainly improve acceleration fella, RPS billet being fully rebuildable for life or slightly cheaper model is the Jun flywheel, very good too, Have ALL 3 in stock at the mo, though that don't normally last long bud, throw in FREE SGP racing uprated pivot ball too. Mail me if yer like for upto date pricing and check me section in traders area. cheers smithy

I am now and i bloody typed it  option 1, stage 1 turbos at 1175, Labour depends on where you go but at around 700 quid, no mods requierd for ANYTHING option 1a, stage 1 turbo's AND Greg dupree dump pipes cost as above PLUS 370 quid for the turbo pipes, the DOWN pipes require modification to suit the dump pipes if your series 1 and i estimate that cost to be 30 quid ish Option 2, stage 2 roller bearing turbo's cost 1920, being larger require a shorter TURBO pipe, which i can do for around 180 a pair, NO modifications to DOWN pipes, labour is same as above. Otion 2a, roller bearing turbo's with Greg dupree 5 bolt dump pipes, cost as above for turbo's plus 390 for DUMP pipes (in stainless) modification required to DOWN pipes to make them shorter, estimate is same as above for this. Also at this stage i throw in 75 quids worth of braided oil feed hoses for FREE. So in short, you ONLY make modifications to DOWN pipes IF you decide to use the Greg dupree dump pipes, if you don't use em, then no mods required. Cheers smithy

Hi mate, stage 1 tubs on their own need no mods done to anything, stage 2 tubs cos are bigger need new TURBO pipes fabricated which are very much shorter, these ones i can do. IF you have the DUMP pipes as advertised in my traders section with ANY of the turbos you need to shorten the DOWN PIPES these connect onto your turbo pipes see and would be too long, this job the garage can very easily do. I advise the customer when buying dump pipes which ones he needs, 5 bolt or 4 bolt, though it does list it already, in the case of my turbo's the stage 1 are 4 bolt and the stage 2 are 5 bolt. Hows that fella ? finally even though i've not advertised it, any one having stage 2 turbos and DUMP pipes i'll cover the cost of new braided oil feeds to suit normally 75 quid as obviously when changing tubs you fit new oil feeds, rather than using nissan ones i throw in something better. cheers smithy

Dump pipes are simply your choice mate, if you want more from turbos, these will do it, so only buy if a) that's what you want and b) yer have the cash. Yep i supply them just look in my traders section. 1 point though on them, in order to achieve the best possible gain they designed to the same length as a series 2 Zed stock turbo pipes, if your series 1, pre sept 1992, thenm you need to shorten your existing down pipes, very easy to do, any gargae worth their salt in about 40 mins, i can help with that explanation to them if needed. This is for any make size of turbo BTW. If you decide on the roller bearing turbo's and NOT the dump pipes, as they are larger than stock, new turbo pipes are required anyways, i can supply these for about 180 quid, if stage ones are bought, then no need to alter down pipes at all UNLESS you decide to have dump pipes. Geez hope that explains it mate. Availability is good, turbo's take approx 3 days after cleared funds to me and dump pipes 8 days. As for boost, many i know have in fact lowered the boost pressure when going with hybrids as it actually gives same power, (cos their using uprated tubs) some go up, i was running 18psi on mine, but boost is dependant on correct fuelling and mixture etc, so you don't need to go high boost to make the power is what am trying to say. cheers smithy

Nige, 2 areas that restrict power on the Zed are the stock turbo pipes as explained the turbulence above and the stock manifolds due to their design, by using the dump pipes it is helped in gaining more power from the turbo's and an even quicker spool up time as the turbulence can cause the opposite effect, so in this case, nowt really specila as regards back pressure and dump pipes but gets things really smoothhhh. cheers smithy

Gees i bloody hope so mate :) I/C's in my opinion really should be very next on yer shopping list mate regardless of what turbo's you use, yer up there as reagards intake temps. The stage 2's give sheer torque and are quite usefull even at your level but with the additional cost you just gotta decide will you ever mod the engine further to release their full potential. Both turbo's are easily capable of far higher than stock boost, but you really only want to go higher than say 14psi if uprgraded I/C's are present and correct fueling. As regards mine, main cause was day before an oil change took place using far thinner than normal oil whilst at the same time it looks like it was seriously overfilled causing very excessive oil pressure which just blew seals all over the gaff  only good thinh is that further mods were planned for next monthm, these have now come forward  cheers smithy

Yes mate the car with stage 2's would pull as quick as the other car, but higher up the rev range would pull away and leave the other car behind. If you were someone thinking of pistons and other mods, then yer at the level of wanting alot more power so best get the stage 2's 1st, i did just that and ran them on a stock engine ( except some elecy gizmo's) for past 2 years, car was very very torquey. That was until Thor when excessive oil pressure blew all the seals in engine and turbo's  With labour costs of at least 700 quid and upwards, plan now and save money and time in future, if yer fairly adamant the upgrades you listed are what you may stick with apart from any electronic's, I/C/s and mapping, then just the stage 1-2's are ample. I knew one day i'd want more from the engine, hence getting the turbo's then to suit. cheers smithy
  21. I do like that colour on a Zed, makes it look fresh and slightly more modern to me :) Am with John on the strut brace as the sticker is missing ontop looks like the last owner had it anodised blue perhaps. You do have an after market slam panel ( or homemade) hard to tell. Cusco do suspension parts and bushings etc but not a lot for Zeds, perhaps if slam panel ain't homemade then it could be a cusco one, hence the sticker, they didn't really do Coolant products though and the rad from pic looks standard. Nice looking motor, yer just need to really brighten that bloody dirty engine bay up mate  and yer know where to come for that :) cheers smithy

Breifly mate, yer stock tubs start to run out of puff the older/used/worn they become at the higher end of bhp, if yer doing any mods to the car you will if using hybrids release more of their potential, the stage 1's are pertty much ample for the vast marority who want to tune the zed without going over the top, i.e induction/de-catt/Zorst/chip and boost upgrade. These are certainly the most popular with 80% of sales at this spec. Stage 2-3 Hybrids are stronger again and able to run even higher boost levels, being bigger than the other ones means new turbo pipes required ( which i now sell) Roller bearing means very quick spool up as well, it's a cross hybread t25/t28 meaning 90% parts of T28 the remaining T25, so for those wanting to go a lot further than above in terms of bhp but without the lag a normal T28 would have with it, so in short unless your planning many mods above those listed above the stage 1-2's are ideal, more planned power ? then the next stage up as explained is best coupled with no lag on them, makes em very quick turbo's ;) cheers smithy

Yes you can replace the cats if you like though doubtful if it will prove much effect as it's like uneven tyre wear, once started it will continue no matter if you do the tracking, so replacing cats may slow down the effect but nowt else. on my site i only list hybrids, only ever had 1 customer buy stock ones, the stocks are about 50 quid a turbo less, hybrids allow more boost, operate more efficiently and allow the potential more of any mods you've done or likely to do, you or next owner so good selling point too, when time comes of course. hope this helps mate smithy

No probs mate. Don't forget though the Zeds breathing system does rely on quite a decent level of back pressure to keep the rear piston ring sealed, it's de-catting that dramatically reduces this pressure in this just as important area. The fact that over 80% of Zeds that de-catt soon have this problem pretty much confirms this point. Think Nige has got plenty to read now anyways, lol smithy

IF turbos are proved to be 100% at fault, then no expense is down to cutomer. There is an old member round here somewhere who can confirm that for me. Fortunately it's only happened once out of over 30 sets that a turbo has gone back and it proved to be oil starvation through blockage rather than turbo actually failing, but yes i took care of it. Some of the tubs i've sold here are over 3 1/2 years old now and de-catted. what do SE do to prevent future problems with de-catted Zeds mate ?? Do a serach and you'l see a number of posts of other companies tubs going after a very short peroid of time or few miles once de-catted, Cheapness is not something that should be considered with these kinda things imo cheers smithy
