  1. Hi All I stopped using the forum ages ago when I got rid of the car. However, I've just stumbled across the old guides I wrote for removing and refitting a 300ZX engine. So I've stuck them on my website and thought I'd share them in case they're any use to anyone. Hope this helps someone. Cheers Mike http://www.symatix.co.uk/Content/sites/mike/300ZX/engine-removal.htm http://www.symatix.co.uk/Content/sites/mike/300ZX/engine-refitting.htm
  2. Well they'd fit if the width of the friction area of the R34's disks are exactly the same as the standard 300ZX pads and the offset from the hub face to the centre of the disk axis is the same. Is this the case? The 3G kit uses the standard Z calipers.
  3. It uses the standard calipers but uses a pair of brackets to re-position them further out.
  4. I put a 3G big brake kit conversion on my car a while back. I now need new rotors (or full disks) for them. I can't seem to get any response from 3G and I don't know if they're still trading. Does anyone know where I could get some from or whether any other disks will fit this kit? I'm reluctant to purchase a completely different big brake kit from another manufacturer. Ta
  5. Evening boys and girls. Very long time no speak! I've finally got the zed MOTed this morning and it's now taxed and on the road. I'm after a few electrical connectors to finish things off properly if anyone's got any going spare. I need the following: TPS connectors, both of them on the loom side. Water temp sensor (the one with two pins). Lamda sensor, loom side and sensor side. Another one at the back, no idea what it is but it's exactly the same as the TPS inline one. Knock sensor, loom side and sensor side. I'm also after radiator brackets that would fit a big Koyo rad. Ta Happy zedding everyone!
  6. Anyone know the easiest way to gain access to the washer motor? Is it attached to the washer bottle? I'm kind of guessing it may be through the wheel arch but thought it'd save time to check before pulling bits off.
  7. Yep that sorted it. Thanks everyone for the advice. £70 off eBay already socketed, swapped my chip into it and everything's now sorted.
  8. I don't suppose anyone in the St Helens area has got an ECU I could borrow for an hour or so to verify if that is the culprit? Alternatively if anyone has one to sell....
  9. Cheers mate. Nah, ignition switch is fine. Checked that. The problem is that when the ECU loses it's +ve feed from the ignition switch, it keeps the relay open that supplies the other +ve feed to it. It appears that the +ve feed from the ignition switch starts up the ECU. After that, it uses another relay to supply its power. In other words, it is responsible for turning itself off.
  10. No turbo timer. I've poured over the wiring diagrams and I can see that the ECU is reponsible for cutting power to itself once it's been started. I am seriously considering a faulty ECU but was also wondering if anyone knows of any external devices that can cause the ECU to refuse to switch off.
  11. Hi all. Right I've finally got the car working again after the rebuild. I had an electrical problem for ages that turned out to be a shorted wire in the fuel pump carrier. And whilst diagnosing this (i.e. lots of blown fuses, etc), I appear to have developed a further problem. I don't know if this was something else giving up the ghost due to electrical shinanigans going on, or something wholely unrelated. I can start the car fine. However, I can now turn the ignition off, remove the key and the engine still carries on running with no key in it! I have to stop it by pulling the ignition coil relay out. Any ideas?
  12. I've just had a quick look around. I see andyduff is banned (???? presume I shouldn't ask) and Warren's been back on. Bloody hell, next thing Timmy Turbo'll be back!
  13. Not been on here for a while. Are many of the old crew still around? Still struggling to get my 300ZX working again at the moment due to a "mystery" electrical problem but thought it would be rude not to drop by and say hello. So "HELLO!!!!".
  14. Nice one. How much and would you be able to post it to me? Ta
  15. That would be brilliant if you have. It's the fuel pump ECU not the engine management ECU yeah?
