Twin Filter setting up
Cheers guys for the input, curious though why i need a dummy MAF, it's a 3inch bore and the pipework i do for it is also 3 inch up as far as the bend at the top ? will speak with Pete at SE nearer the time about your thoughts John, i was also thinking (possibly) about ditching the SE chip and going with a Unichip instead. I know the existing MAF doesn't max out till the mid 400's, but it has with that top horn pipe still in place proved to cause excess turbelence and restriction and not quite accurate readings for the ECU, according to all the posts i've read on TT.NET anyways ;) so i thought well am doing a few mods at the same time, so may as well design one meself, me other kits have proved succesful so far :D cheers smithy

clutch replacement
Yep 340 it is, i got mine done at a bog standard garage and it cost 200 quid, most customers i've sold too havn't gone to a specialist garage, personally i think it's the one job on a Zed that ain't that hard or complicated, so shop around. cheers smithy

Twin Filter setting up
Cheers Eric, would that mean i do away with my HKS super afr, or does that still remain if i go for the apexi jobbie ? and i can run two AFM's with the appropiate connector and harnesses and splice them together ? any write ups on this you know off. cheers boys smithy

Twin Filter setting up
Looking at doing the twin filter set up with one on each bank so as to do away with the top horn shaped pipe, but using an AFM on ech side, can i just splice into the main AFM harness on one side from the other AFM that i will be fitting, know what i mean ?? I assume even doing it this way there wil be benefits as i'm doing away with the top horn shaped pipe ? oh i will be having the SE chip that i've got re done again as i'm doing other things done at the same time, if that helps. Very happy with what i've got (below) but there's always room for more :D cheers smithy

I guess he was probably busy getting sorted for Billing last week; especially since he's just bought a SWB Z32. Was Luke there at the weekend, wouldn't have minded a chat if he was but i couldn't see him. smithy

Turbo Dynamics question
That's quite a good price if it includes vat and delivery. There is a little more work involved in fitting them, not much though, the oil feed pipe needs to be slightly altered and your existing turbo down pipe becomes redundant as it wil be too big/long so you need to fabricate 2 new short down pipes, in stainless it is quite easy and should cost about £60.00, ideal time though to add any extra sensors you want too. Good turbo's with loads of pulling power, i'm running 17psi on mine no probs but i have had the air/fueling played with too. Who you thinking to fit em ? cheers smithy  Oh if that price dont include VAT, let me know cos i can match it and make it fully inclusive.

Turbo Dynamics question
Excellant turbo's :D go for it, did you get a quote on them ? Mark yours ain't the roller bearing spool up jobbies, you'd be in the back seat if they were :D cheers smithy

Can't start won't start
Stu, mark where yer bolts are positioned on yer cas and swap it over for another one, she's gotta fire up then Bear in mind this can alter your timing, so WHEN it works check timing is okay, yer need the motor running, how else you gonna show the boys your new hard pipe kit :D cheers smithy

Blitz Exhausts...caution.....
That's the problem with nearly all jap Zorsts, mines the same Realize system and when the pipe work goes, think i'll go to Tube Torque in Maccelsfield, they do pukka stainless Zorst for the Zed, probably best quality Stainless around. Powerflow have always used shite stainless for the pipes, though i believe the back boxes are different/higher spec stainless jobs. For VFM it's either the Mongoose or if something bigger wanted then Tube torque. cheers smithy

Smoking from 1 side......help.......
Sparkz is right Subs, if you get confirmation from a garage (should take about an hour) seal has gone, ring technics quoting any numbers you got and they SHOULD sort you out a deal to replace them, with better hopefully and check the rest of the turbo out, though if you send one back, may as well do the two, real downside is the labour charge for the fitting. I charge £1,075 all in delivered for a decent pair of hybrids, so give em a bell first, worth it. smithy

Smoking from 1 side......help.......
Sorry Subs, my monies on a blown rear seal, you've gotta get the car up on a ramp and get the rear pipe off to be alot more certain, if it is, Turbo technics MAY do yer a good deal on replacement, though doubtfull and insist on race spec stagger gap seals, i insist on these as standard on the tubs i supply. fingers crossed for yer, oh and PCV valves less than 2 years old, i would expect these now to last you your time with the Zed. good luck smithy

Smoking from 1 side......help.......
Well being from just one side, very possibly the turbo seal is shot, i notice your de-catted, was that before or after yer new turbo's and did you fit new because of blown and is it the same side ???? Need to get up on the ramp and remove the rear turbo pipe to the offending side and get yer fingers inside to check for any play in the turbo and obvious signs of excessive oil. Oh not turbo technics tubs are they ? cheers smithy

Catch Tank
Bloomin ech, i know my guy can sometimes do magical things, but i very much doubt he can make flat metal stainless sheet become a tube :D No i ain't done one cos i've never seen one in a Zed engine yet that would tell me where to fit it, once i do, then who knows. As for N/A cars, always had turbo's, so maybe duffers may know. sos smithy

Turbo Advice...
Marks caes was a little tricky, everything pointed to the failure of one turbo the excat same as his old original one, the garage though helpful claimed that all was correct when fitting the new ones, despite the same side turbo and symtoms, Turbo Dynamics who supply the Hybrids i sell, tested everything and confirmed along with an inspection report, to show that turbo failure was not due to the turbo itself, unfortunately no one accepted full 100% responsibility, so i sorted it at my own expense, cos i am the supplier, Mark incurred no extra expense at all, which as it should be, so Moral of the story is, buy from a company or someone, who you know will back you up, cos the Zed is one engine that Turbo suppliers will never accept liability for if something goes wrong, so it's down to who took yer cash, which thankfully out of nearly 30 times, only once have i shit meself :D Good luck Mark cheers smithy

350z feature on Top Gear

Mitsi GTO Probs
Well the latest on this is, car was taken to the MOT Inspecorate who checked it out and found numerous fails with it, they then pusued a prosecution against the garage, however proving the car was in that condition when first MOT'd was the stumbling block. They commented on the fact the car was advertised in the Auto trader as having been regulary tuned by a certain well known company who supply and now install Jap performance goodies, their company name was in big 8 inch letters on the car, a car being in their garage being tuned all the time would have had the faults spotted and rectified, in the inspecorates opinion .... So we have found out, the mot garage have had complaints before, the seller was friends with the garage owner, this tuning company had never worked on the car, but still alllowed the advertisement !! Now the biggest stumbling block is we are in the I.O.M and the court case would be in UK, the laywer dealing with this is a family friend, but oh so slow. He reccomends dragging the tuning company to court as well to prove no work done by them, thus discrediting the seller ( a liar) Numerous offers by the seller to post a cheque by ways of an apology have never materialised. New clutch done, water pump done and a few of the leaks done, with that and costs involved for towing etc, over 2 1/2 grand spent :( so not good. Got a couple ideas of getting even with the seller, just ned to see if we can work em out. cheers smithy
