i have my zed back - ok she's a bit late but whats the story?

I had her booked into SE with a firm idea of what i wanted to achieve. I'm not interested in bhp bragging rights - i wanted a car that was easy to drive had had a good pick up and mid range.

I'm a firm believer that if you can get 450bhp of good mid range grunt on a day to day basis it'll beat a 600bhp high end monster.

well at the moment i dont know what she's achieving becuase i need 1000 miles before we put her on a rolling road. but i can tell you this....

1) i've never driven anything like her

2) Pete say's "she maybe the most responsive car to leave SE NIssan"

What have i had done ....

1) Turbo Dynamics stage 2-3 roller bearing hybrids

2) Fidanza aluminium flywheel

3) Vernier Pulleys

4) Underdrive crank pulley (shortened ratio)

for those of you who have been following my posts about my compression problem - is seems to have gone away - the way that the car is running suggests that the compression tests were flawed in someway but even pete doesnt know why.......

.......she sounds magnificent and drives amazingly - if i am suffering compression loss then god help anyone with a good engine because she is scaring the bejezuss out of me.

So what do i think about SE nissan - honestly - i think they need more staff - but their expertise is unparalleled-

I almost dont care what my zed does on a rolling road because she is a joy to drive - far surpassing both my last zed and this one before it went in to SE.

Many thanks to SE for seeing a boxter S humbled at the A12 M25 roundabout :D

Kindest Regards,

Alex

p.s. I'm still running a standard mines ECU at the moment - custom SE map in 4 weeks

p.p.s for anyone interested the verniers were set at 5' advance intake and 15' advance exhaust.

Excellent news Alex.

Lets hope you don't have to touch her for many years to come.

Good news, pete seemed convinved the engine was shagged and putting it in would be a wsate of time with 50% compression :)

top job!!

what you had done and how much it cost? your cams looked pretty impressive.

Now that's what i like to see Alex, if Pete R thinks it's quicker than most that have been done there and using the Tubs i sell, then i'm as happy as you, believe me

You stuck to yer guns with it after different pieces of advice and she's a winner, well done and i can't wait to see the RR figures in 4 weeks time. Just goes to show, you don't need loads of cash and hi specs to get a quick Zed these days

cheers

smithy

(smithy)TD stage 2-3 turbos

(smithy) fidanza alu flywheel

SE vernier pulley

SE underdrive crank pulley

SE organic clutch

Reprogrammed Eprom

SE stainless down pipes

new thermostat

new water pump

new water hoses

new timing belt

MOT

TOTAL £5,341

plus i had a new air con installed £ 1,164

I had a long chat with Pete about how he was altering the cam timing with the aim of counteracting the lag of larger turbos on your motor. Looks like it worked and he was right !

5 degrees intake 15 degrees exhaust

i know exhaust seems a lot but pete seemed to think it would work - and she sure drives sweet.

Noted ;) It looked rather nice hanging on the stand when I saw it.

Exactly! Plonk a polishied plenum on it, and it's something you'd happily take out for a romantic meal. "Running a well build engine is a lot like making love to a beautiful woman...". Look at the verniers on that! ;) Niiiiiiiice.
