From the Aus forum :- "I don't know if anyone is aware, but a lot of intermittant coolant leaks are caused by ethylene glycol, the ingredient used in anti freeze, anti boil coolant. What happens is, rubber hoses shrink, over time, and because ethylene glycol has a molecular size about half that of water, it finds its way out through a slightly loose hose, and murphys law says its the hardest hose to see, and to get to, and depletes the cooling system, of up to the concentration of the glycol, normally 30%. This then, can cause the car to overheat, and loose more fluid. The upshot is, when the radiator is then refilled with plain water, it doesnt leak, becaus…

Leaking coolent from the left hand side of the engine, as a your looking at the engine its coming from I think the side of the radiator. I had the RAC come and try and find were it was coming from, as I had lost a lot of coolent he filled it back up with water and some stuff called Bars seal, its stopped the leak, is this stuff OK in the radiator? though feels like there is a loss of power. Does anyone have an idea what if any could of caused this to happen? coolent level was good, and around 6 months ago had a flush. Also is this a big job to find out what has happened any suggestions much appreciated cheers rob

The plan was to drive up to Reading on Friday night, stay at a friends place so I could get up and get to Micheldever tyres nice and early, and drive up to Billing Saturday or early Sunday morning What actually happened was I drove up to Reading on Friday night, met a cute girl in the Purple Turtle, completely fell in love/lust with her, found out she was at Womad festival, decided to go to Womad on Saturday and then Billing on Sunday, found out that day tickets for Saturday had sold out, found a girl selling a full weekend ticket for only a fiver more than a day ticket and bought that. I then met a cute German girl on Saturday night, fell in love/lust again, decided…

Hi Guys, Just want to say Big Thanks to Craig and Nico for facilitating Billing and anyone else who had a part to play. I find it easy to take these things for granted and think that these events happen on their own. Great to see everyone and so many great Z's, I had a superb time, and thanks for all the advice and offers of help/beer and tent space from Cos. Unfortunately a lot of the help/advice got lost because of the beer sunk, so if anyone remembers offering me free engine rebuilds and a wingswest kit, just for the pleasure of working on me convertabubble, pipe up! LOL Mark

Well, what can I say. We may sit behind these keyboards and give each other hell, but when it comes down to getting together and having a good time, no-one does it better. Everyone I met this weekend was a Gentleman/woman apart from Tracy who was star and a proper geezer bird(Tony, have you recovered from your pasting?) Tracy, I would see a doctor about your drinking problem. It annoyed the rest of us how we were not able to get pissed in time before you cleared out the boos. Kris-Mark-Macca-Jaylox-TonyC-Harve-Harve's mate-Tony-Tony's mates(who didn't want anything to do with him by 2am and just watched Tracy abuse him-The couple in one of the pictures…

I recently had the engine out and it stood on end in the workshop for a couple of weeks. Now that its back in, its got one noisey hydraulic lifter. Looking in the manual it says you should always keep the tappets the right way up when you remove them otherwise air gets in and they go noisey. Do you think this could have happened to mine while the engine was stood on end? And how the hell can I purge the air out of it without having to strip it back to the cams???? Cheers in advance ZHead.

Hi Guys, On the way back from billing I noticed a strange light come on the dash which I had not seen before. The only way I can describe it is a square with wigley lines above and below it and it was a red one. Second in from the right I think. This light came on twice, each time for about 5-10 seconds. I was cruising at 80-90mph prior to the light coming on so I eased off down too 60-70 and travelled the rest of my journey, about 50 miles and it never came on again. Car drove fine, Temp and Oil pressure were OK and car pulled fine no lack of turbo boost. Should I be worried about it. Cheers, Deano.
