Just got me first 300 with a few teething problems

Bonjour all, I've just got me first 300(I've been wanting one for yonks) and I've got a few teething problems. Firstly she seems to be leaking from the cooling system, causing overheating!!! Also, the motor for the electric window (pass. side) has decided to pack up and Nissan want £295 + vat the thieving B******S!! Can anyone help! Also she's in need of a good service by someone who knows their stuff. I'm in the Slough area, so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be made up! And finally hello to all you zx owners.. hope to see you on the road, once these gremlins have been sorted!

Hi & Welcome to the nut house!

Coolant leak, check all conections yourself including the water pump - there a bit prone to gaskets.

Window motor, go to Forsale & Wanted there are members who are breaking Z's & keep a lot of us in parts.

Most inportantly buy a manual, CD or book either & familiarise (spelling)? yourself with the Z. Very complicated cars for the first year or so, & enjoy.

Hi and welcome,

I live in Burnham so not far from you.

If you need a good mechanic, then a guy I use is over in Waltham St Lawrence.

He serviced my Zed, and now does my Skyline.

He does a lot of Jap Imports for the traders around the area.

I would buy, if you can stretch to it a full 60K kit from Courtesy in the states, and buy plugs, any additional fiters needed on top of that.

Once arrived book it in with Steve, and he will turn it around in a day. My cra run much better and smoother afterwards.

I also had the gearbox oil, and diff oil done as well.

I buy Millers CRX 10/60 for the engine, and CFS for the gearbox, and CFS LS for the diff.

Price your looking at about £400 for all the service parts, and about £300 in labour.

But to the buy the parts from Nissan UK will cost you £750 + VAT, and then be told it may take over a week to get all the parts.

Order from the states on Thursday, arrived Sunday!!

Email me if you the mechanics number.

Thanks for your reply Leigh, Ive actually been chatting with Jeff from zedworld and have decided to get him to give my Z a good once over(it really needs it). But maybe in the future once I know what sort of condition its in it would be handy to know someone more local who can service etc. What colour is your Z and i'll keep me eyes peeled for it? once again thanks for the advice, take it easy..Mark
