I find that if I cane it the heat can make the oil break down and am worried.

 

I know there are many factors that contribute to the oil breaking down and losing its durability but how often should I change it?

 

For instance if I cook fish fingers then there are lots of particles left over that foul the oil and ruin my chips.

 

If I use it for just chips its ok for at least 3 months but if I use it for trackday chicken burgers and sausages it smokes alot.

 

I never realised it would take so much maintenence and am seriously considering selling it and buying a steamer.

Studies have been done and it has been found that it is always better to renew your oil after each cooking session.

 

This is because when oil is heated and food is cooked in it, toxins are released in to the oil and over time can be poisonous.

 

It is very wasteful but you did own a Zed so I believe you know all about wasting oil.

Listen I think this is really unhelpful to the karma of the forum.

 

And in any case, you should know not to put oil in the teapot - only best boiling water.

 

If you want to boost the temperature to use oil, then fair enuff but please don't overstress the OEM bag holders.

 

I am leaving this subject now before it gets into Meat vs Veg. Any fule kno that pure sunflower oil is OK but nothing (and I mean nothing) reprograms chips like good quality dripping. See Harry Ramsden.
