General Discussions - 300ZX Related

My 200SX got eaten from the inside out by rust. By the time it bubbled through it would have cost more to repair than the car was worth. Any idea how to stop my 300 rusting as winters coming and the roads will be salty? I saw some underbody wax sprays and ones to go into gaps in doors etc. Are they worth using? What about spraying WD40 under the car or hosing down the underside regularly? Any other advice? I can't take my car off the road and can't afford another one. Thanks!

I Recently Installed A New T.p.s On My Imported Tt. Using A Digital Voltmeter Reading Between .45 And .47 And Various Settings Inbetween I Have Been Unsuccessful In Getting The Car To Change Gear Without Revving It .any Help Would Be Much Appreciated

Hi Guys, Just got a new CD plaver for my Z , but not sure how to get the central thingy bit out to get to the old radio. ( have removed the 4 large screws ) but will not still come out ?? Do I need to take something else out also. Thanks in anticipation kevb :hyper:

Hi all, Ive just took my spark plugs out to have a check (HKS S40i), rite the tips all look like needles, now im not an expert on plugs and i know some are supposed to be like this but does anyone know if these are supposed to be like this and i bet they are expensive too. Thanks Hanksy

Hi, Quick question how does the bonnet panel above the air filter come off? I popped the bonnet & removed the 2 screws underneath but the panel still seems to be bolted at the bottom front end. How/where do i access the bolts?? Also i noticed that one of my main front light cluster units is loose when the bonnet is up. How is it secured to the car body?? I assume the previous owner has left some bolts/screws out. I had a quick look at the other side but it is as dark & cramped as an elephants armpit around that area :) Thanks Barry

Hi I am going to replace my spark plugs and am going for the PFR6B-11B. I can get them from courtesy just wondered if any traders sell these. Also can anyone tell me if there is a gasket that needs to be replaced when removing the balance bar? Cheerz

I've noticed over the last few days that my clutch pedal has an expanding "dead zone" where there's no resistance at all. When had a drive earlier, almost half of the pedal travel had no resistance. The gears engage and disengage without crunching. I had a similar thing happen a while back on my old BMW - found it to be a failed slave cylinder. Could it be the slave cylinder on its way out here?

Can anyone tell me if the AC gauges from Chris's group buy are calibrated to the sensor that came with it? I thought they would have been but have been assured that they will work correctly with any sensor. Cheers Chris P

Hello folks, I'm looking to buy a 300zx sometime soon, but it would be very helpful if anyone could advise me of any things to look out for. I don't want to buy an import as it's too much to insure! At the moment I have an imported MX5, but I regularly drive a 350z (and previously a 200sx), and would like to have a 2 z household! What do you think? J-G PS I have £5-6K to spend. :cool:

what are the options? something i'd really like to change, I've put together rest of my bodykit (thanks to mickeyb) and stock look out of place, and i don't think veilside ones will work either.

guys noticed the rubber coming out of the rear o/s shock and the ride seems a bit rougher. Was gonna jus change the one, get second hand one..would you recommend changing both? Was initially going to get uprated suspention all round but seeing as im selling her thought id just keep it standard... if any1 has any spare uk shocks that just happen to be lying around:D could you gimmi a shout...dont want to sell it the way it is:( regards jaz

I recently bought one of Vijay's boost leak detectors and found a boost leak in the AAC unit, which I replaced. I've now driven far enough after reconnecting the battery for the idle to have dropped down to a proper level and now I'm looking to get it all set up properly. Unfortunately the plastic on the connector to the AAC valve seems to be badly cracked and, while watching on the conzult, I could see that the AAC % value was hovering around 45% and then dropping to 0% for a fraction of a second, so replacing that is the first job, followed by setting the idle screw so that the AAC is around 15%! At that point, the conzult idle setting screen was showing an id…

Right, got a couple of problems need solving. My Z has just failed it's MOT. It has a very leaky front right shock. Not standard unfortunately. I believe the car has uprated shocks all over. 1) Will i therefore need to change the lot or just the front 2??? 2) Any recommendations for set ups and installers?? 3) Should i go for the caber correction kit / adjustable link arms to go on at the same time? Would this give me any labour saving? Yes i am lazy. Though a little worried that my garage could find a leaky shock, but neither the hazard nor rear fog switches....one is fairly obvious..... bloody :smw: Any help or advice much appreciated…

Think i may have worked out what puts my car i safty boost and suspect the car only goes into safty when the Air-Con is on and ive been driving for about 10 mins. I havent heard any det but i could be wrong. Running a Cretral 20 chip with 1mm boost jets, but do have some Baggins mapped ones i can put in. Any ideas?

Had a replacement gearbox fit to my car over the weekend, which all went to plan apart from the following. No reverse Lights. ECU doesnt know what position the Gear Selector is in (Checked on Conzult) Car changes gear fine, had to bypass the inhibitor to get her started. Probally connected summat wrong, any ideas?

Can anybody identify this chip? Is it a standard chip or an after market one? It is in my ZX TT Auto and is a Jap Import.
