  1. Hi- 90 SWB Manual TT. (Single nipple on the slave cyl, no nipple on the m/Cyl) I bought it recently, had trouble selecting gear, better if clutch was pumped. I tried bleeding- went from poor selection to no selection (must have introduced more air into it) Put new piston in M/Cyl and new slave cyl. Tried using an Easibleed, Got the lid sealed etc and bled it, bled it, bled it, tried taking cyl off and clamping it, holding the nipple as high as poss etc got a reasonable pedal but not perfect, took car down from axle stands, jumped in and guess what... no feckin pedal.(can get it with furious pumping tho') Please can someone tell me the definitive way to bleed a …

Have been looking on the zcentre at side skirts and it is not obvious what make they are. Are they all copies? Are any Bomex? Someone is supposedly selling original Bomex ones on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7913853606 for £275, Anyone now how to tell if they are original? What abot price, are there any cheap places to get sideskirts?

Not sure if coincidence, or a new battery really helps the car. Ive always had a bit of a problem, I dont think I always got full boost. Never really worked out why. Installed a new battery today. Car now seems to be hitting full boost more, much more fun to drive. Like I say could be coincidence, or something to try if youve been having similar problems. I have disconnected the battery before, to clear the ECU and made no difference. Also got Shrimpys grounding kit to put on, might even help more. Barry.

whilst using a private track ( very similar to the M5 J7-J8 ) my car pulled very well until the speedo read 265kph then all turbo boost dropped off so i backed off and the same thing happened when i accelerated again is this my geared speed or is the sudden drop in boost another problem ? 93 j-spec tt auto :x:  ( i feel the need for speed )

Assessor has advised he will be recommending C or D class write off. I haven't let them take it away, but am still not sure if I should try and get it fixed. Now got the bonnet open but no pics as yet. Everything has been shoved back to the engine, but I am unable to see any actual damage to the engine itself. Left hand wing definately needs replacing as front point totally folded over. Right hand side has a slight crease where the front has been pushed back against the wheel. What would you do/recommend?

  8. Just wondered if this would be possible, if the bleed screw was converted to metal, or are the temp sender units too big to fit?

Whilst pratting around today making the car work again (thank god I finally got it running properly) I noticed the passenger side PCV doesnt seem to be connected properly, the clip is missing and the PCV end of the hose has seems to have swollen up with heat (possibly) it kinda sits loosly over the end of the PCV now... car seems to be running fine, was running super rich and burning a little oil with all the messing around with running on 5 then 4 then 5 again and now a nice sweet 6! Got a bit of a smoke screen for the first couple of miles then it all cleared up and was fine. I would have thought a non-functioning PCV would give me a seriously rough idle?…

  10. Does anyone have an idea what the strange black box is that is mounted via metal bracket on the underside of the driver knee panel (trim that goes under the steering column). It looks aftermarket (due to its strange position and use of "bullet" connectors as opposed to the usual plugs), and is a bit bigger than a pack of playing cards. It also has a number of wires disappearing up into the dash and into the loom. Cheers Rich

Reeto, slapped my new PTU on, she starts ok now (with a bit of persuading cos the CAS plug keeps falling off, (didnt know it wouldnt start with this unplugged??)) When she is running im not getting a spark on all six, I think I've tracked it down to the middle left (as you look at the car standing in front of it) cylinder, not sure what number it is, sorry.. anyhooo, I was wondering can I stick a multimeter onto the coilpack connector to check that there is a current going to it? also can I check the connectors on the ptu to make sure they are sending out a current properly too? if where should I be plugging the little prongs from my multimeter? (not exact…

Hi All Dont get me wrong, Zed ownership should not be taken lightly, but Adrian Flux quoted £940, after being honest about the following mods: 18" alloys performance twin exhaust boost gauge boost controller air flow controller rev speed digi meter turbo timer All on a Manual TT 1990, I do not consider the above to be ground shattering mods? Im 33 with no convictions full no claims rural postcode etc, have they got it wrong or is a Zed looking like becoming out of my league, unless I sell some organs and put my children in a Workhouse. Gutted, Darren

Hi all, does anybody know of any reason why a left hand front brake caliper can not be swapped over to fit the right hand front and vice a versa? I have looked and cannot see any reason why not just wondered if anyone had a better idea.

Help needed please.Hope you guys have some good advice? Feeling really low and pi55ed off. Had my standard wheels nicked out of my garage about two weeks ago, one of which belonged to Jeff, (motor insurance say its covered by home insurance, and home won't cover motor parts!!), and to round it off, a corsa pulled out in front of me from a right hand lane across the central reservation into the fast lane of the dual carriageway, and I rear-ended it big time. Buckled bonnet, radiator, oil cooler, front brace across top of radiator ( bent right to and including the wings) totally smashed fog and headlights, bumper is totally corrugated. Waiting for a response from my insurer…
