General Discussions - 300ZX Related

OK. The same clutch assembly, including RPS action and Fidanza fly, has now been in 3 Zeds. In the first one it was heavy as lead and almost uncreepable. Understandable because it turns out the vac boosters were missing as it the car was actually a manual conversion. In the second one - a manual - it felt like stock. It was definitely running full pressure because it coped with Stage II turbos adequately. In the third one, another manual conversion, it's v heavy again, but the booster circuit was included in the conversion. Why? Could be there be something missing in the third one?

Has anyone ever successfully cleaned out all parts of the AAC valve only i need to check it this weekend and want to see how difficult is to get off.It looks like a nightmare! Any tips?????????? Also is it worth cleaning out the air filter as i haven't touched it for a year or so?

Hello, Over the last week or two I have a bit of a problem starting the Zed, I turn on the ignition, no problems there, dash lights up fine, then when trying to turn the engine over I get nothing, just a click and the dash goes completly dead! Like the car has been immobilised ? fixing it is as simple as quickly unplugging the positive terminal from the battery for a second then popping it back on, alarm kicks up a fuss so i reset it with the remote control and then it starts fine (although I sometimes have to do this 2 or 3 times before the car wants to play) Any ideas what could be causing this? My 90 swb TT absolutely stinks when its running. A bit like rotten eggs. It was imported 4 weeks ago. I've been advised that it's the Jap fuel. (surely the japs don't accept stinky running?) I also read that it could be the cats. I put fresh Optimax in it - though there is still some jap fuel there too. But it still stinks. No smoke, runs smooth. Any ideas as to what could cause it? my new alloys, very very lightly scuff my calipers, so i reckon i need some spacers. What sizes do they come in, I reckon I need about an extra 5mm to make it sure. and only on the front. Cheers J.

Started to notice a strong smell of fuel in my car, but it seems only in the mornings. I have searched and its usually the old fuel pipes getting on, but i had new braided ones from smithy fitted 2 months ago. would there be anouther pipe it could be.

I've read neary all the threads on the Zed's headlights. My question is where is the dipped beam supposed to shine???? Mine only shines about 10 foot in front, mainly on the left side. Is it supposed to be like this? I know the bulbs arent all that but even when I do upgrade the bulbs, they still wont shine in the right place! Maybe something to do with the 'auto leveling'??? :mad: Thanks in advance Andrew

Hi All, I'm getting some nasty noises when the clutch is down, and almost grinding like sounds when changing gear. This doesn't always happen, but does seem to be getting worse. I've been told its the thrust bearing, but figured while that is being done, i might as well get a clutch pack and do the lot (don't think it's had a new clutch in it). It's a 1990 Jap Import Non-Turbo, Z32 SWB. Any advice of where and how much for a decent clutch would be grately appreciated. So far i've been quoted £113.36 inv VAT from BuyPartsBy, £223.25 from Speedways (they could only get Bluechip, or something). Also checked Courtesy Parts and they have disc assembly/pressu…

Just on my way from Blackpool lights AGAIN, and spotted a silver Z at a junction in Kirkham. It was to dark to see the reg but it had an alloy spoiler.

Probs started on sunday...went for a quick run out in the morning and everything was fine....then came to go out sunday night...and the car started to rattle as i drove down the road....drove about five miles and the noise got worse so i pulled the car up and turned her off...then it would'nt restart..so i called the AA... :xxx: The guy from the AA said that the noise was pinking...at it was prob caused by the fact that the oil level showing on the dip stick was to high, causing oil to enter the inlet manifold and throttle bodies..He advised going to a garrage to have these cleaned out and the oil level dropped. Guys Lightened pulleys seem like a good idea so.... Should I get just the crank pulley or get the whole set ? Also will I need a new belt(s?) ? How much is a new belt(s?) ? I met a guy at a meet not so long ago who said to avoid these as they don't have a damper as fitted by Nissan and therefore will damage the bottom end of the engine (bearings I presume). Just bought a Camber adjustment kit from Harvey. I am gonna need to get it fitted asap as the car is ripping the hell out of my tyres inside edges. I have been told I will need to fit new tyres when I get it fitted anyway so is not going to be a cheap job. Is it going to cost me even moe to get the kit fitted or is it a doddle? Cheers, Justin

I'm definitely interested in the two rear UK spec wheels and 2 of your jap ones as well - depending on the tyre tread, I need ones with a good amount of life left and evenly worn. Just in case anyone's interested the buzzing from somewhere near the footwell turned out to be two emission relays which try to bring up the revs if they are two low apparently the later 300's have done away with these but the way round it is first to bring up the base idle which would be running too low in my case...... The relays sit just to the right of the fluid reservoir for the brakes. If anyone else has the same problem.

How the fook do you get these off?

Hi Guys, My 93" Jap Zed has developed a problem with its Auto Gearbox when cold it does not want to change gear from 1st even if I use the gear select but after it as been running for about 20 mins its fine, at the same time this problem started to occured, a whistling noise from the passenger of the engine started it sound like air leak from the turbo but the turbo compression seems ok. Also what started at about 60 mph it would just drop in to netural. :confused: I have ran the diag's and everything seems ok, I have search the forum and other people have had the same problem in the past but have not put what they did to resolve the problem.
