General Discussions - 300ZX Related

My daily driver is an Escort 1.4 on a G plate. It has suddenly started overheating. I can drive for about 10 minutes before the temprature reaches the red. I have checked the water and oil and they are fine, all thought the water when checked after a run is really hot!. Does this sound like the water pump has failed?. Or maybe I should just run some rad flush through it?. (or maybe I should just get another daily driver :D ) What do you think? Thanks in Advance Glynn

I have to replace one of my front wheel studs. Can any of you guys tell me whether it is possible to achieve this without dismantling, ie, just knock the old one through and fit the new one from behind? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Martin

IM undecided on what tubs to upgrade to either larger comp wheels and 360 bearing t25's or a pair of t28's If I fit the t28's will I need 555 injectors or could I get away with running standard untill I can afford a set, also what other mods will I need to get the best out of them and a rough bhp figure? thanks John d

Didnt see the Reg plate as i was negotiating a speed hump :mad: But it was on Astill lodge rd at about 5pm and had Jap style Black allys with red outers! Looked very nice :D

In a previous thread I wondered if the heater matrix had gone on my Jap NA as I was getting no heating but it started working again the next day. Though today I had an over heating problem I think? I was driving back from work about 10-15 mins (not pushing it) and noticed just as I was getting home the temp reading was high & then went to max. Pulled up & popped bonnet - fan on radiator was going, and could hear what sound like air escaping from the raditor cap valve, also could hear a sound like some water was bubbling near the radiator in a pipe low down? - could not place it exactly... my zed is running better at the moment then ever before the only thing that is beigining to niggle me is when you are slowing down or coasting the auto box changes from first to second and back really fast making the car jerk it seems to be worst in the rain and i have noticed that some times when you start it up the auto consult light on the right of the dash flashes fast for about 30secs im thinking tps any advise thanks steve

I have started doing a 60k service and some other work but I need to turn the car around. This is because the ground is just too uneven to jack her up (I know I should have checked first :slap: ). I am limited to a small working space so the only option is to turn her around. Can I move her in Neutral by pushing, it only has to go about 10 feet, turn around and come back again the other way.

Recently bought my 300zx tt auto and I have the usual tick over/idle problem, have read a load of threads about the PTU and connection being gunked and bent back over to much but can I buggery find the PTU, what is it and where is it. :confused: Is it anything to do with the ECU in the passenger footwell?? Any answers would be appreciated.

The more I do the more goes wrong :cry: I am not going into the whole story but some mechanic damaged my new 18" rims and I had to put my old 16" back on the front because the rim is loosing air, as I had lowered the car it is now scraping speed humps. shortly after the front pipes seemed to start blowing so I assumed it was damage from this. When I bought my Zed I was handed the original rear boxes and 2 restrictor rings cut out of the exhaust pipe.I was told Nissan put these rings in to restrict power.This seems an unlikely thing to do after all that precision engineering.Does anyone know what they were there for?

Power loss - what power??!! Hi all, any diesel experts among us please? I have a Nissan vanette '98 2.3 diesel. It's a total slug but serviced regularly and drives well apart from every now and then, say about once every 5-10 miles it loses power and wont pull and chucks black smoke out the zorst. Is their a time interval at which the Cam Belt needs to be replaced if the required distance has not been covered??? Mine was last done at 118,000km but that was 4 years ago. Car is now on 165,000km

can any 1 give me a guide to this have got hard pipes for them to fit on to do I have to take standard 1's off? if so where are they and is it difficult to do cheers :bow:

Just seen a 300 for sale with 18" wheels at the back and 17"s at the front. The car had a slight "jacked up" look , which was good. Is having odd sizes the way to go or are their any pros and cons. Seems to be an american thing??

just got my zed back after a major auto box rebuild and the day after it died no coughing no spluttering just a stone cold cut out (just as if i turned off the key) after speaking to the garage who did the g/box they said it did that to them but after removing all the fuses and replacing them it started (more luck than judgement i think) any way does any 1 have a clue , i been told that the ptu can go just like it cut out ???? question is does any 1 have a known working 1 in the leicester area that they wouldnt mind lending to try (i know its a bit cheeky but as you all know its a lot of dosh to shed out on the off chance that this is the problem) so is there any fell…

after two boss kits and three hours i finally got my goddam momo evo millenium wheel fitted!!!!! :hyper: never again am i going to do that instructions were in japanese and i had to figure out which way the boss went on (there are 4 different sized holes to fit over the hicas sensor), then had to open the boss up to feed the horn/cc wires through, then found the horn button which came with the boss is thicker than the horn that came with the wheel and wouldnt fit, so had to settle with the original horn button (not a problem - see below). after having to chop my allen key in half and trying to tighten up 3 allen screws from the back of the wheel i took it for …

My car sits on my drive awaiting the verdict of guilty ( written off and taken away ) or not ( Written off but I can keep it). It has done precisely thirteen miles since I filled it up, and I don't want to let that disappear with my car. Anyone any idea how I can syphon this off, as there seems to be anti-syphon baffles in the filler hose to stop this. I've tried diverting a hose in the engine bay as the fuel system is pressurised, but it only gives me a spit and then stops. I'm unable to turn the engine over as my collision has pierced the oil coolers. Any suggestions welcome, Simon.

excuse the title of this thread, im in a bazzar mood. more weird noises have sprung from the zed. ther is a gargle/gasping noise coming from the passanger sidejust where the windscreen meets the bonnet, but its coming from inside the engine bay, if you get my drift. it sounds like a split pipe. ive also noticed that the oil pressure, even though its at a good pressure,is varying ever so slightly. i dont appear to be loosing any fluids of any sort any ideas??? cheers
