Im about to gut the cats on my 1993zx and want some advice on a couple of things. 1) does the 1993 t/t IMPORT have a precat or is that just the uk?? And if so is it easy to take it off to gut ( i know i have to put back on , if i have 1 ) 2) Is it just simple as taking the centre pipes where the cats are on , knocking the cats through , then putting them back on with new gaskets?? any advice appreciated P.s. Dont worry about advice on the MOT im not worried about that. Thanks

I finally got round to popping into my local main dealer to get my new key blank cut. They told me they can't retrieve my key code as my car is an import and they only link into the uk systems. Anyone else encountered this or are they just being awkward? I would just go and get it cut at a normal key cutting place but my current (valet) key is a bit bendy and I'm concerned I would end up with a shiny new key that doesn't actually work! Cheers David

Anyone done anything fancy with: 1. The Auto box light DNPR21 etc is very dim cos of the bulb being set at the bottom near the 1 i guess... 2. Any of the other lights inside/dash dials etc? I dont want to do anything too drastic but little nice touches are always good :)

Its been converted to UK mph, but its top speed on the dials is about 110/120 mph and then its off the scale, the mileometer is in miles but the trip is in km i think cos its reading over 400 on one tank! anyone know why they'd make dials for this for such a limit..in UK version?? is changing it to the 180dials difficult or should i just change the whole bit of kit?

I was changing the bulb in the boot of my car to a coloured bulb, and as I was taking out the old bulb I am pretty sure the screwdriver touched the prongs where the bulb plugs into. That bulb then completely stopped working. The interior light, the map reading lights and the clock now no longer work. The 'door open' indicator on the dash board is glowing constantly. If I turn on a map light, the light still doesn't come on but the light in the centre of the roof works, the door open light turns off then a little red light appears on the radio. The clock also lights back up. My first thoughts were I had blown a fuse. I looked in the fuse box under the bonnet,…

I need to check the wires between the ECU and the connector a slim hope that this is the problem and throwing the code 34......also i don't want to blow up my ECU therefore i want to double check how to check the resistance. From the female plug (one with temporary resistor) Connect one side to a good earth, the other side to the ohmmeter (red) and the other sidee of the ohmmtere (black) again to a good earth????? It should throw up a resistance of 500k ohm with the engine running.... Is this correct???

Anyone else run a Greddy Profec II boost controller? What do you think of them? I know it only has two settings but is a variable boost really important as i know i'll only want two settings...off or full!!!! Also even though i have code 34 like most does this matter when fitting a new chip and boost controller? Will it by-pass the det sensor when fitted? Does the boost controller make a huge difference to performance? Cheers

Hi Guys (Girls as well if there are any?!), I received my new APC Silver Carbon seats yesterday :hyper: :hyper: And was measuring up last night. Looks like they'll be a tight fit but should go in ok !! What I wanted to know is : A) Does anyone have non ZX seats fitted to their cars at the mo? And if so: B) How did/do you get around the seatbelt problem?!?!?! The leather seats I'm taking out have the stalk welded to the rails so I'm guessing it needs either the original rails being taken off and attached to the new seats or independent stalks welded/bolted to the chassis?!?!?!  Any advice or ideas would be great…

You will have to excuse my ignorance, having never had a good looks at most parts of a zx until I got mine I have a few simple questions. I took the nose plate off mine today and there is a large cone filter, I am guessing this does not come as standard and has been fitted by a previous owner? What comes as standard? The central locking just packed up, my fuse box is all in japanese, anyone know where the fuse is as I cannot see any blown in the drivers footwell fuse box. I can hear what sounds like a grandfather clock from the top passenger side of the bonnet, any ideas? I though it might be water boiling over but with the car being under warranty I did no…
