If i start my car up and rev it for a couple of seconds then switch it off, i can hear dripping coming from behind the engine on the drivers side - i think its dripping on to the manifold as its sizzling away - and nothing is hitting the floor. Also there is a small amount of steam given off that come out of the same place the dripping is heard and it absolutely stinks of some acidic shite After about 1 minute of the engine being off it stops. I know its not to clear but any ideas >? I cant see diddly down there ! I dont seem to be losing water, or fluids - but im obviously losing something! thanks for any help I had this problem when…

Thinking of getting new set of wheels for the Z and wondered whats the largest width of tyre/wheel that will fit without wide rear arches. More traction egore !! I'm sure everyone will say just get wide arches, but my money doesnt stretch that far at mo. Cheers

Can anyone recomend a good and reliable mechanic with reasonable prices between Bedford and Milton Keynes? I'm looking for a 60k service and change of front brake pads. Worldwide Motors in Newport Pagnell was recommended in another thread, I will pay them a visit. Is there anyone else?

Just renewed insurance with houghtons again. after chatting to the chaps there about struggling to keep milage under 5k per year on their classic policy they came back to me with a quote on their every day classic. has the same cover as the classic but with no milage restriction. i dont remember it being available last year. cost me £150 extra using 5 years no claims bonus. great value i thought. taking Z to belgium at weekend :D :D nick

Hi all, Picked up my first 300zx at the weekend, enjoying every moment with it, i think its the beginning of a beautiful relationship :D but once i picked it up on Sat i realised the horn didnt work, then on sunday it started working all by itself every now and then, and first me and my mate found it amusing but then it turned annoying i popped the bonnet to see what i could do and my leg banged against the passenger side headlight and the horn started and wouldnt stop till i managed to locate the fuse and yank it out. A friend reckons it might be the alarm causing it but im not sure as im guessing the horns are near the passenger head light are they?? I…

I have looked everywhere for performance figures for my '90 NA manual import and cant find them on the net anywhere? Does anyone know what they are? The only thing I can say for sure is the top speed of 112mph! Jock sent me a list of mods: Truth is, it is not a 220bhp car. the car was advertised as 220 bhp at the crank, not the wheels, you will probably be running about 180 at the wheels. De-restriction, an induction kit and a nice pipe and a chip will make it feel 10 times better and sound about a hundred times better. You can tune it further than that but its a good start. Thanks Jock - Any idea what I would be looking at once this has been done…

Anyone know where I can get a steering wheel boss for my TT. Dont care about losing the HICAS. Do I just add a few buttons for the cruise control? Whats a nice wheel to go for as my other half is buying me one for my birthday :)

The inside of my front tyres have completely fallen apart, it is like something has gorged the inside edge/tyre wall right through to the thread and the tread is peeling off. The rest of the tyre is fine. Its too excessive and harsh to have been tracking. The car is lowered on TEIN suspension. Has anyone else had this problem, tyres catching on anything under the arch ? I have had the tension rod bushes fixed as these were split through so may have contributed, but wanted to see if anyone else suffered from this before I put a new set on.

With no owners manual, I am struggling to make sense of my AC. No heater direction, just auto and off? Rec and eco seem to do nothing? Also if I have the temp over 34c the fan stops blowing until I drop the temp down? Can anyone tell me how to get the best from the system? Cheers, Steve

Hi from a 300 Newbie.... I just bought a ZXTT, 1992 UK Manual, it's quite nice and tidy, I THINK I got a good car, just a couple of niggles....though I think they might be related.... This post is kinda long, but I have tried to give you as much info as possible... The day after I bought it, I noticed when pulling away from standstill a slight kind of juddering/vibration. It felt like it was coming from the rear passenger side (Though those kinds of noises / vibrations are notoriously hard to pinpoint I know) I didnt think too much of it, until I had real trouble disengaging 1st gear after hard acceleration from standstill The clutch pedal had …

The oil hose from the side of the sump which goes into the cooler is very close to the steering column. I wasnt happy with the location when I put it on and now I realise that it is touching the steering column. Does any one have a picture of the way the hose goes under the engine? Or can any one describe how it goes round the steering column? Thanks.
