Can anyone tell me where the best place is to drill the exhaust manifold for the EGT gauge sensor? I know it should be close to the turbo, but how close?

Is it easier to remove the manifold or can it be drilled in situ? ( with the turbo removed ).

I done this some years ago and after searching various sources decided on installing in the turbo pipe directly after the turbo, for most accuracy it should be in manifold but sensor tips have been known to disintergrate and go into the Turbo causing damage also most sensors are quite long and there isn't the depth in the manifold.

You should be able to remove the passenger side turbo pipe off okay and drill a hole then weld the boss in there for the sensor.
