been having a slight missfire on the zed on the drivers side, cant for the life of me find the fault tried everything, so i unplugged all the injectors and coilpacks and pulled back the wiring loom, just as i opened the connector to the iacc valve i noticed that the red wire going into the connector had worn through and was making contact with the earth of the plennum  would this cause my missfire at very low revs ???

have bought some new gauges for my car and was going through the usual "where shall I put them " thing and was wondering if anyone had thought of modifying the original instrument cluster. Either by removing the existing temp and boost gauges and replacing them or by totally redesigning the clocks to icude new gauges. I know that there is a PCB behind the clocks, but has anyone though of reworking this?

Just after fitting my autobox after its second rebuild in as many years . Problem is first gear isnt dropping out easily it redlines at 7200 starts heitating 2 or 3 times before finally dropping to second (and not smothly) all other gear shifts are fine. Any ideas, could it be as simple as TPS or speed/rev sensor circuit, surely these would effect all gears not first. Any help appreciated Roy

Hi - I have a problem with my side lights - the switch is off but the lights won't turn off. I want to remove the fuse temporarily to save my battery going flat, but the fuse diagram is in Japanese  Can anyone tell me which fuse I need to remove? Also, can you advise as to what might be causing this prob? Thanks for any advice. Ummm, you're talking to a girlie here, so nothing too technical pls - I'm surprised I managed to find the fuse box at all :D

The zed has a problem with air locks and one of the reasons for this is that the Rad is low in the engine bay, just wondering if the rad supports at the bottom, would take some large washers to make the rad sit a fraction higher. Obviously you would have to monitor the height to make sure it didn't foul on the bonnet, maybe a bit of blue tac on the rad cap to look for the imprint of the bonnet and how close it is? Your thoughts please?

Had new springs (white line) and shocks (Koni) fitted to the zed and noticed front off-side wheel is almost touching the wheel arch whereas near-side is ok. Having investigated further it seems the car is not lower at one side, but the off-side wheel is closer to the front of the wheel arch than the near-side wheel. Is this normal?? Does it just need wheel alignment?? The car is almost undriveable. Can anyone recommend someone in the Preston/Blackpool area who could look at this, set it up and have it laser aligned etc.?? It has a really low front on it so that may limit my choices. :D Cheers Rich

My Mrs took her Polo (1999, 1.0L) in for sevrive MoT. (This should be the Mrs Craig David help forum!). They want to replace both front discs as they're pitted. They replaced them two years ago and she's done less than 10,000 miles since then. This seems far to short a life for a brake disc.... any idea how long they should last? She's a slow driver but the car is parked outside. Any idea what causes pitting? Thanks chaps!

Hi All, I've been looking for a good-condition 300ZX twin turbo for a some months now. I'm planning to go for the 2+2 rather than the SWB because, although it's fair to say I'm not buying this car for practical reasons, I do occassionally need to carry more than one other person on fairly short journeys, plus I often need to carry guitars and associated kit around. With all this faffing around I've been getting slightly impatient, however it's been good in the sense that I'm a lot wiser about the issues and pitfalls I need to consider. There is still one question I don't have a definitive answer on though: which is better, the auto or the manual? My ow…

  14. The Mrs had a tiny prang while parking my car. It didn't even mark it but when she drove home afterwards, it stalled. Does anyone know if there's one of those switches that cuts the fuel in an accident? I wonder if it might have cut the fuel pump and as she was driving so slowly, enough trickled through to get her home so it just stalled once. If so, do you know how to reset it? ...... it's probably fine (touch wood!) but I have to go to Wales soon and I don't want it cutting out all the way there. Cheers!

I've got a question from a buyer on e-bay who is interested in my radiator (he may be a member on here already, I don't know). He wants to know if my twin turbo radiator would fit his N/A. I've looked at the two parts and they are very different. However, would does anyone know if the twin turbo model would fit as a potential upgrade? Cheers Mike

The gearstick on my zed noticably moves when I accelerate, is this normal? The only time I have ever seen this before was when I drove a car I had crashed into a kerb and bent the driveshaft on. Also every now and then when I try to start it, it makes a sound from the starter, the same noise that it would make if you tried to start it and the engine was already running. When it doies do it, it was always does it twice then on the third attempt it starts fine. Anyone else ever had this???? Oh yeah, and does the 'AMB' temperature on my air con signify the outside temperature?

I've just fitted a new CD system, and now the side lights, the headlights and instrument lights don't work. Interestingly the full beam works when you use the 'flash' . Also, please confirm there are only 2 fuse boxes on a Zed. One under the bonnet and one near the accelerator? Help please

Hello all, I'm thinking of taking the wife and drive down to Spain over the Christmas break for a change in scenery, maybe go by Nice as well. It could be around 2,500miles over 3 weeks. What would reasonable service be before going for such a trip? I just bought the car a few weeks ago, with no service history. J-plate twin turbo, 70k miles (import). I've flushed and changed oil+filter, and am getting the Apexi induction kit. I've also changed fuel filter and radiator cap, and had the radiator flushed. I'm changing the cam belts next week, but had not planned to change thermostat or do other things at the same time, unless something is found to be worn …

done a search but got a few questions on things i couldnt find. I have a TT plenum which i plan to polish and fit to my NA. Are the TT and NA plenums DEFINATELY the same? Dont wanna swap them and find loads of unused holes etc.. I looked at Andy's guide, will the procedure be the same for the NA? Ignoring the obvious bits? Is there anything to take into account for the NA that aint on the TT? Where's the best place to buy the new gaskets, and PCV valves/hoses etc? Is this gonna be a horrible horrible job? Anyone near by wanna do it for me? :D Cheers Scott
