General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hi again! I've seen various Jim Wolf ECU's on the Courtesy website, one for California spec emmissions, the other for federal emmissions. Hs anyone used (either) of these? I'm guessing the Californian spec is lower emmission and presumably leaner. I've heard good things said about these ECU's on here, question also is will they pass the uk emmissions test, or should I keep the old ECU to bung in every 12 months for the MOT? ;) Thanks! Derek

Evening all, havent been here in a while! Finally got around to spending some cash on my z, and I am going to fit adjustable upper arms (and lower tension rods...) The lower rods look easy enough to get at once the undertray is out of the way, but has anyone fitted the upper arms? That bolt at the back, that attaches the arm to the bracket, is there any way it can be removed without unbolting the mounting bracket from the chassis? If not, is that as big a job as it looks? The mounting brackets seem to be bolted onto the chassis, not studded, and I couldn't see how to get a spanner down the side to hold the mounting bracket bolts from turning as the nut is undone…

hi fellas, im really struggling to find this niggling fault on the zed its like a missfire but it isnt !! :confused: i live in north wales where men r men and sheep are scared LOL!! :rofl: does anyone have a consult nearby to have a look for this damn fault thanks dewi ap

After seeing Jock working his conzult magic on my car last night i have now decided a Conzult is a necessity. PWhere is the best / cheapest place to obtain one please?? Or anyone got a used version they dont use anymore they wanna sell???

Guys could you help me out. i need a wiring diagram for the zed so i can fit my alarm. and i can guess what your going to say, get a pro to do it, well i am but to save time and hassle i said id try and source a wiring map. has any one fitted this alarm or any experience fitting alarm on the zed. any help would be nice cheers Nick :duffer:

Stupid I know but if your luggage blind/cover thing doesnt retract all the way i found by pulling the whole unit out, extract about 2ft of the blind and hold it between your knees, take the right hand plastic endcap off (3 small screws) pull it up about an inch, and turn it 2-3 times clockwise (you'll feel the springs tightening) put it all back together and it will now retract with lethal velocity!!!

Hi Guys, I have just got my Z (import) and was wondering if running it on Optimax will be ok or do i need to use octane booster as well? Will it do the engine much damage in the long run or would it be safer to have the ECU re-mapped to run on UK petrol? Should i have it checked out on a rolling road before too long?

Hi i have 93t/t manual and when u get to the biting point on the clutch shaply , then i can feel the gearstick jerk a bit , also happens when you tap the accelarator and let it go suddenly but this is only happening when moving. Any ideas? Could it be a gearbox mount loose or worn ?? :hyper: :rofl: :bow: :duffer:

Odd one this morning, started up the car and the power steering was really heavy, it was definitly working but not very well. When I stopped and started the car again it was working fine! oil level is fine wasnt sure what else to check, its the second time this has happened. is something about to break? its a 90 auto if that makes and difference. Hi All i have a clifford 500 cat1 alarm which was already fitted to my zed and i need to remove due to some problems with it but i have been stripping down my zed all day and i cant find it.I found the siren and microwave sensor but the wires disappear into the main loom and i cant trace where they go......I need to know any common places they would be installed on a zed as they are quite hard to fit anyway due to not having much room in a zed.....I want to replace it with a toad ai606 that ive already purchased.... Any help please!!! :cry:

i've had abit of an oil leak for ages, just 1 or 2 spots on the garage floor every so often. but this has got wrose. so the other day when i fit my new zorst i had a good look under there. the oil is down the right side of the car underneth and goes up towards alternator etc. there is a bolt that has been sherred off right on the front conner of the sump so i guess this is my leak. question is how do i get the old bit of bolt out to mend what i hope is the leak. thanks to all that can help graeme

Hello everyone, im new here, have been lurking around for a few weeks trying to learn about 300zxs Im looking to upgrade from my golf VR6 to something japanese and boooosted and have been looking into most jap cars within my price range: imprezas, skylines and have stumbled across the lesser known Zed! I have been completely unable to get any sort of reasonable insurance on scoobys or skylines, (24 yrs, 4 yr ncd) but have just got a quote of £650 on a uk Zed from elephant. Ive also noticed you seem to get much more for your money in the first place, an equivalent 300zx goes for less than other makes. So my question is..... WHY? :confused: :confused: …

Guys, I need to get into my Zed but someone, AHEMNIGELAHEM :D, took my battery terminal off (As your looking from the front off the car its the right hand side terminal which I believe is the negative) and shut the bonnett meaning I cant get in as I have no door/boot keys!! :slap: So the remote fob wont activate?! Is there a secret way of getting into my car without smahing the drivers window? I can jack the car up but can I reach the catch if I stretch? I could on my old escort! :D HELP!
