Wheels, 17/18?????

Just seen a 300 for sale with 18" wheels at the back and 17"s at the front. The car had a slight "jacked up" look , which was good. Is having odd sizes the way to go or are their any pros and cons. Seems to be an american thing??

    Providing the rolling circumferences of the wheels/tyres was kept constant (ie by altering the tyre profiles) then it would have no effect.

     

    If you ran say 235/45/17 front and 265/35/18 rear that would match the usual combi's of 235/45/17 & 255/40/17 for 17s all round - or 235/40/18 & 265/35/18 for 18s all round.
