A brief summary of yesterday. Dry journey turned into a wet journey, turned out of a junction applied light right foot, met lampost car f**ked. Still not sure how it happened but mostly glad I didn't hit anyone else. It is with a very heavy heart I type this but I fear the insurance will write her off and that will be that-I shall miss you all. Si-good luck with your Poo and have a good American trip. Isaac-Good luck with the new admin post! Stellaz-I hope you find the right car and Riddick doesn't eat it. Thanks everyone else for your time, the website has been a brilliant research tool for me-I keep reading posts from idiots moaning about n…

Hi guys, coming back from Southport today, my speedo started bouncing about and just reading nonsense. Is it likely to be the converter, or is there some other likely culprit ? By the way, its even worse if I go over a bump, but reads between 20 and 40 when just pottering along so gonna get caught by a f****** Gatso if I dont sort it quick. 1980 Jap N/A by the way. Thanks guys

Had the Z stood for a while and when I started it there's a slight knock from the top end. Can't hear it other than on tickover. Not really loud, thought it was a dry cam lobe but it is still doing it?. Any ideas.

First things first, I pretty sure this is the boost solenoid connection: Trouble is i can't for the life of me find the other end that it plugs into and with no boost controller my car sucks on the power stakes :( On a different/possibly related thing, i found the hose thats been blocked off: I get the feeling the car has had a boost controller in the past but it doesn't now and I don't intend to fit one just yet, it would just be nice for it to boost above "6" on the stock gauge. On a plust note, the front of the car is fitted with coil overs :D

Hi, Managed to whip my entire EGR out last night in about 90 minutes: With Engine in: Plenum OFF: The secret is this little baby: or similar. Allows you to get at those pesky 12mm bolts and with an extension handle - break those mothers free :p And that was on my 1990 ZED - not bad I thought! I have read somewhere (Maybe Aussie site) that the EGR bolts are 13mm - thety are def 12mm - just posting cos I know a lot of folks are considering doing this. Hardest part is still the 22mm on the exhaust manifold - I cut mine off flush with an angle grinder, and drilled and tapped a thread into it the remainder, and then plugged it forever with an M12 b…

I've been slowly working through some jobs that need doing on the z lately and whilst trying to move the PTU onto the top of the nearside strut I thought I'd make a tidy job of it and get rid of some of the excess wire. When I stripped some of the loom back I was surprised to find it held together with bits of tape. I was also surprised to find a brown wire joined to one of the black wires from the 7 pin PTU connector. What is this brown wire for? And is it meant to be joined to the PTU wire? I'd have thought the PTU wires are so important that they're meant to be solely for the ignition circuit. Is this join and all of the loom being taped a sign that the loom as been me…

Hi folks, My '94 UK 300ZX is leaking coolant from below the neck of the expansion tank filler. The leak is coming from around 6-8 inches down from the yellow filler cap, pointing straight across the front of the engine bay. The hole appears to be perfectly round, this has got me wondering if a pipe has come off. Could somebody please do me a big favour and check the neck of their expansion filler pipe and let me know if a pipe 'T's off around 6-8 inches down from the filler cap? Thanks Dave

on the headlamps....... The one in the foreground is as they came off the lamps, the one behind is part way through prep. All of the metal parts are being keyed (sanded), any rust dealt with, then they will be primed and then a coat or two of satin black applied to bring them back to their former glory. Once that is all done I'll be concentrating on the 99 spec inserts (Painting etc) and then assemble them all back together. I was hoping to clean up the plastic bodies, but nothing I have even comes close to doing this! I've used Carb cleaner, Electrical Contact cleaner and de-greaser and not a single mark has gone  anyone with an idea as to what…

I think the battey on the yellow Z is dead, I've just tried the silver one and thats dead too. So I'm on the look out for a battery, what do you recommend. Looking for the best price for a normal high powered one and a dry sell, either would have to run a large sound system at some point

On two occasions when the Z tried to accelerate on the ice track one wheel was spinning. I thought all Z`s had slippers. If the diff was knackered then that would explain why a manual twin turbo was available for £1500. Or am I completely wrong here?

Can anyone tell me what the normal oil pressure should be? I have fitted an aftermarket guage and it reads 30psi on tickover when warm but goes to 100psi when reved to about 4k and above which is as high as it will read. The reason for asking is that I have an oil leak from what appears to be the rear crank oil seal which I replaced when carrying out a manual conversion not many miles ago. If the car is left ticking over, it doesnt leak however when I drive it or rev it high, the rear crank seal leaks. The oil then goes all over the gearbox, exhaust etc. Is 100psi normal as I dont want to go through replacing the rear oil seal again if it wont cure the problem? Any help a…

Hi guys Fitting the passenger door card, noticed there must be some kind of threaded fitting which holds the top of the interior handle to the door. The trouble is the bodyshop must have removed the fitting when they sprayed them. Only found it was missing after fitting all the rest of the door parts. Would any one have a quality picture on the inside of a door so i can see what the fitting looks like? Regards Kev
