Yea maybe, but how does the ascd know which button has been pressed? Is it done with the buttons having different resistance circuits? maybe my best way forward would be to wire my new buttons onto the old cruise control board?

Im going to try and put the buttons in a section under the ash try cover, i dont use it much so happy with the buttons tucked away under there. Just need to work out how they are wired as 3 buttons and 3 wires has got me thinking.....? MIght have to rip appart my cruise buttons just dont have the time really and wanted to order in the new switches

Cheers guys, xp didnt assign the drive a letter and ive no idea why. I made the image of the disc using acronis true image. Nice bit of software and created an exact copy of the drive including all partitions etc. The only way i found to restore my image was to download a copy of norton ghost 2003 which thankfully uses DOS (heros operating system as it never lets you down!) to do the copy. It worked fine and restored the drive which is now sat back in my laptop. Strange that the disc would show up in disc manager but didnt have a drive letter?

Im looking at relocating the cruise buttons and changine the switches for something a bit more in keeping with the interior of the zed. Thing is, there are three wires and 3 switches, so does anyone know off the to of their head how the system is wired up? Thanks andy

Its not a bad offer based on some of the prices of late, but if your thinking about getting another zed in a few years id be tempted to hold on to the car. You know its history and that its been looked after, and they arent getting any younger

I can update and say that if this happens to you datascan will gereate a different activation code! Im trying to work through it now, hopeing legrath will be able to help as the only email i have for the datascan guys is an automated one :mac1:

Kinda not really im afraid, i think its more down to the fact that as this drive is imaged it has an mbr etc and windows doesnt want to see it as it will get confused as to which is the system drive, thats certainly how it seems. In the good old dos days copy *.* plus fixmbr would have sorted me but no help now!

My laptop HD died today (for no good reason!), but i thought i would be ok as I have an image of it taken using backup software before it died. Problem is I connect the harddrive (with the image on) to a pc and it doesn show up in explorer. It shows up fine in disc management (with the correct partitions etc and as a basic disc, healthy etc..) but doesnt show in explorer. I dont want to convert it to a dynamic disc as that would alter the imaged drive, and the option to mark as active is grayed out. not sure what to do, i have checked and double checked the bios, but all is well and like i said it shows in disc manger. Help as i need this imaged disc to work so i can copy the image back to my laptop harddrive.

If it helps, datascan havent replyd with my serial number activation yet so could i just email them and explain the situation, get them to cancle this request and wait until i resotred my computer?

I have just sent off for my 2nd datascan serial number for my in car laptop but have just had windows die (after a few new software loads :mac1: ) . Im concerned that after i restore an image to the laptop then reinstall datascan that my serial number wont work. Will i be ok? the hardware will be the same and clearly my name and email address will be the same so will it still generate the same activation code string? If not what can i do? Pleading here as i dont want to buy another copy f the software due to an XP system failure!

Can you check that online?
