  1. Do it yourself, dirty job but well worth doing! Did mine a few months ago and now i sleep easy with the rainy season starting! You can buy cans of spray on waxyoil for the hard to reach places from halfrauds and then just use the brush on stuff for the rest. Get a decent wire brush as well, get rid of as much corrosion as possible before applying the waxyoil then get the hot water on as you will be covered in the stuff after!
  2. Duffman to the rescue again, andy do you just have a photographic memory of the zeds engine?
  3. Just out of interest what symptoms did you get appart from the gearbox fault number? Just wondering what prompted you to get to the tps and check it
  4. Hey baz, where abouts in lincoln are you? im just outside in coningsby, not seen that ferrari zed before, but wouldnt be suprised if someone believed it, zeds are getting pretty rare cars, so most people i chat with dont believe its a nissan!
  5. As si said, no way its worth the £400 + to get it, fit it and get the thing working correctly. Just get a carputer or even just a temp install with laptop and datascan plus gps reciever, that will give you rough cornering G etc...
  6. uk one here, had both sills repaired recently and undersealed the car this summer so hoping shes as bomb proof as you can get in the uk conditions! Got small amount of rust on the rear drivers wheel arch, but hoping to get the back end of the car resprayed next year... maybe even the entire car to tidy up the stone chips etc
  7. Cheers guys, definatly doesnt do it in N only in drive, seems to be the PS and the brakes that can cause it to stall. I will get the fluid replaced as a starter as it probably needs doing anyway... good starter for 10 i guess. Whats the FICD valve andy and where would i start checking it works lol
  8. PCV? How would they effect it (as mine has been known to smokey at idle on cold days/short journeys?) Having checked it doesnt do it in neutral, but can be caused to stall just using the power steering alone, say on a long sweeping turn where you progressivly feed the wheel round! Dont think its the speed sensor as if you have your foot on the accelerator during the turn this problem never happens and the power steering seems fine at different speeds..?
  9. Ive noticed recently that if i brake reasonably hard (but not full braking effort) sometimes the car stalls! Its almost as if the gearbox isnt giving up soon enough.... After closer inspection it seems to happen only when im braking quite hard and trying to turn the wheel, its bloody dangerous as if the car does stall the power steering stops and turning can be interesting! Anyone have any idea where i should start with this? I have checked P/s fluid, and brake fluid master cyc and brake bleed.... I have no hicas (after market wheel) smithys big brake kit, braided hoses and thats about it thats likely to effect.... Cheers all
  10. Interesting read, although dont think im going to mess with it. Strikes me as a bit of a pandoras box, although would love to get my zed setup correctly with a sort of custom map!
  11. True enough duffman! Although i really should know more!
  12. niggles can you let me knwo how reading the maps could help me lol! Im obviously too stuipid but all i get is the various colours when i download the map... doesnt mean much to me!
  13. Using it to view the sensors is fine, but it also has otpions to download fule maps rom data etc etc, and there is no way il be messing with that without guide lines! Anyone could load it and look at the dials saying o2 responce lean rich and water temp, but thats not hugely useful as most of the information is availbe elsewhere on the car!
  14. Yes no problems, once i get my system pegged down il post my findings, tips things to avoid etc... Hopeing to disappear shortly from work and go and see if this double relay thing works!
  15. conzult does lots more than datascan, the question you really should be asking is do you need the extra features. Datascan is a good produc,t its definalty lacking a user guide, but it does work and lets you see whats going on in the ecu. Conzult is more a technical tool for fault finding and a proper look at more of the car than just ecu functions (as metioned before aircon hicas etc..)
  16. Definatly look good, although for me id be after a red one but not sure where i would stand mot/police wise with that
  17. Thought about it, but im hoping this relay will be a robust solution, the problem witha timer is that the pc doesnt always take the same amount of time to start up (depending on if its hibernated or been in standby etc..etc..) Hopefully the 2 relay system should work, but i guess i will find out soon!
  18. Im using the usb power to trigger another relay to avoid my usb soundcard causing a "thump" everytime i turn my carpc on. Its caused by the fact the amps are switched on by ACC at the moment and clearly the laptop takes a few seconds to boot and then find the soundcard... hence the thump... Hopefully this will remove some of this problem! I will update if it works!
  19. Youl be the dodgy git then lol
  20. Cheers guys. Viscouse fan is on the list of things to go along with the aircon aivv carbon canister egr... Just need time to get round to it...
  21. Is there anything you dont know lymon lol
  22. I think, for what its worth that things here of late have been much more light hearted and fun with still a tech edge if you want it. Nice to see duffman putting up threads and whilst it is a shame that chunk isnt around and i have never had a problem with jeff the mods are here to take a "big picture" look at the club to protect people and the club at large. Everyone here is friendly and welcomes newbies and we dont seem to get tired of posts on hicas etc.... some forumes hate newbies and make the scared of posting without searching pages and pages! Lets just have an end of summer season meet and get boozed! it will all sort itself out then... any suggestions lol
  23. Fcuking hope not, getting pretty sick of this low rate warefare now!
  24. I needed one that would trigger at 5v off my pcs usb port
