There's a skyline in the family
I am making my way home from Chiv at the minute, spending tonight at Brize with Sarah, so I don't know yet. He reckons it feels like a modern car, doesn't give much away to the people inside that it's anything out the ordinary... but it is really fast. He said it is less lairy than my zed, but it's 200bhp down so it will be. Do not worry, I will find out this week :)

Good idea Lex, it's probably OBD1 in 1995.

There's a skyline in the family
So my cousin has bought this. He is looking after my zed atm too so has an awesome driveway. Problem is he bought is a bit blind, it seems a really good car but we don't know anything more than this advert. (It was a suprise to me by the way I knew nothing till the picture came through) Im a but concerned that it has an aftermarket turbo, exhaust and intercooler and hasn't been mapped at all. And it has BOVs. I will be grateful for any advice or knowledge you guys may have to help us make this car all it can be. Thanks.

The end of an era, goodbye 202 Sqn D Flt.
Well I shouldn't speak too soon because there are 12 hours left on this shift but it has been a quiet one today. There was no way we could get in trouble today, so it was boots off and feet up most of the shift. Between devonshire cream teas we watched TV and chatted with all the doors and windows blowing fresh air through the flight. I got a red forehead playing guitar in the sun then we flew. We did a quick 2 hours at sunset, played with a fishing boat, very, VERY, carefully put the winchman down. There was a definite Memphis Belle atmosphere on our last trip. Being very careful not to do anything stupid and to get home safe. Flew over to Lundy island where I spent half an hour swinging about on the wire. Then a couple of NVG field landings to get us in the mood for our futures, which will be spent flying in green helicopters in the dark and home. Tonight I will even accept some shit search in Port Talbot, so long as there is someone there to find. I would rather the dream job of a hot air balloon snagged on a wind turbine but that may have to wait.

Daffy, when I was 18, I mistook an armed forces careers office for a Dominos Pizza and the rest is history!

https://youtu.be/X7zoj3phQZg That is a pirate copy of the video that played last night at our function, it had me welling up. I really don't know who filmed it it wasn't me. I look a right misery but that's me at the party last night. And the last shut down at Wattisham

The end of an era, goodbye 202 Sqn D Flt.
This is in the news now so I can say this, but don't go protesting round london with a placard please. After Lossie closed in April I went to Wattisham AB to do the same thing out of there. That closed in August and I moved to Chivenor in Devon. Boulmer closed on the 30th and we were meant to close yesterday. Well we haven't, there has been a short extension. So I am very lucky that not only have I had the last shift at Wattisham, but 2 last shifts here at Chiv! I was on sober ops at the closing party last night and I am on shift right now. I don't wish ill upon anyone but if someone is in need today I hope I am able to be there to help, in what will be the last yellow rescue in our skies.

clutch question.
Mine is an auto to manual convert. So it doesn't have the wing top bleed block. This means I have to bleed it from the drain on the slave and is very very difficult to do. Have you checked the vac booster?

New clutch, noisy pedal
:clover: at least you can drive it.

New clutch, noisy pedal
Could it be the gearbox or propshaft? Could it be just settling down?

Some engine bits and shopping help, light crank pulley, fuel damper and various misc.
Firstly, I'd like a light crank pulley, standard gearing. I'm going to have the radiator out and should have done the mod last time. If there isn't one on here any pointers to the internet would be appreciated. I need a new fuel damper, or known good used. Stock headlights. Clutch vac booster. Earthing kit. Handbrake shoes. Anyone got NA rear end??? New stud set for the timing belt covers. Thanks guys, again any pointers to these things new greatly appreciated.

Leaking fuel injector ???
Skim read that a bit, but. If you think you have a leaking injector If you can hear Squealing (like an old radiator being bled) If you can smell fuel DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR. I got my zed with a leaky injector. The very recently replaced rear injector had been put in with the plenum in place. During instalation the O ring had got nipped, rolled up a bit and split. Over 3 drives it went from a quiet squeak after shut down, to a smell of fuel and a gurgling noise, to fuel coming up in a jet and hitting the underside of the bonnet like a karcher jet washer. How I didn't end up on fire I dont know!

Dot 5.1 brake fluid, race only?
I've been told before it is more sensitive to taking in moisture, so may have a shorter life. Perhaps that's a down side, if it's true. I reckon you're fine.

Hi all!
Hi Apollo, welcome to the club and it sounds like some exciting times and threads are ahead. I think a 2.0 would be a bit flat in a lwb targa zed. If I were you I would do the manual swap first. Have a drive of the car, find it's strengths and weaknesses, what you like and what you don't then have another think about the next step. At that point you will have a 300hp manual car. The money it would take to get a second hand stock RB26 into a zed would have your car absolutely sorted, and/or your VG30DETT rebuilt. I imagine (please check) a manual zed box would go onto an RB26 anyway, or certainly could be made to. So start there, buy some tail lights, your favourite alloys and drive it for a bit :thumbup1: :clover:

New
The bigger issue is the rust you can get with the Targa tops. That purple one could be converted to a manual. It's what I'd do with it, it is lovely. Welcome to the club mate :thumbup1:

vodafone, never again
Vodafone were your typical spotty shop zombies with me. They knew nothing, couldn't help, wouldn't help, just told me to go outside and ring a robot helpline. I am with EE now, they are much better.

G induced loss of consciousness, sorry.

Shoreham Air Crash
That seems a knee jerk to me! It was probably G-LOC or something. I doubt it was a mechanical failure.

No brakes!!
Glad you're alright. That must have woken you up!

Bonnet open and really windy !
Mine went the other way and fell back against the windscreen. It cracked the scuttle panels. I thought I'd just heard my screen smash and for a moment considered drinking the 10w40 I was holding to end it all

Aem, devils or snow water injection??
I swear I read years ago in Redline magazine (an awesome discontinued mag) about an r32 gtr with a refrigerated fuel system in the boot. Must have generated some power but I can't say I've ever seen it since.

Aem, devils or snow water injection??
How about this mate. Subaru/Evo style intercooler water spray. You can make it up yourself, as a gadget man you can have 2 temperature readings, one before and after the intercooler, then a big button between the gauges for the spray. Press it and watch the Intake temperature drop. It is something I would like to do one day. If I knew how to I would like to use a Raspberry Pi to rig up a load of different sensors for that sort of thing.

think this is the most vivid 300zx i have seen so far
What baffles me, a lot of cars in that style, will have serious time and money invested in the cosmetics, but they rarely show a shot under the bonnet or underneath the car. Similarly the mods normally stop at an exhaust, or they will be an automatic (which is at odds with the exterior that has gone well away from the GT roots of the car.) I don't get it, or am I a pot calling the kettle black, I dont think my spoiler looks that big anymore
