  1. Cue all my Facebook mates giving me grief again. The Selin computer unit is cable tied into a zip lock bag as is the hid thing, they are mounted properly but it's just me being belt and braces. I'm still chasing a noise like someone blowing over a bottle at partial boost, I think it is either the noise of the cones, or the flow between two Hardpipe ends under the silicon coupler, rather than a leak. Because they are all very very tight.
  2. I wondered about that I was trying to feel where the air was going but it was quite blustery. I like that answer so I will stop worrying and blame it on air currents, thanks mate.
  3. Thanks, it recently came out of zedworld so it should be balanced but I hope I don't have one strong and one weak MAF, I must get a voltmeter on them or something.
  4. Ordered a bunch of goodies from z1 and they we're very good and sent the stuff really quickly, postage was $120 but I ordered a lot to make up for that. I was most excited about the stainless steel Hardpipes and the dual MAF, as I had already bought a second Apexi filter and MAF. Anyway I set about fitting the Hardpipes and it was such an arse to do! Some of the steel bits we're only just short enough to fit so much swearing and fairy liquid was needed. I paid extra for fancy jubilee clips and they were useless, they were too wide and as I tightened them they slid off, I have spent hours adjusting and tightening but they still leak, I'm sure they will settle in eventually. The Selin setup was easy plug and play in add mode. The outcome, well boost leaks, but when it works there is next to no lag now and the top end rush from the dual filter is stronger. It revs more freely with a bit more induction rasp. Now time to ask for help, following all this I was checking for leaks after a 80 mile motorway drive and found I had a temperature difference across the engine. The 2 drivers side Hardpipes were cool but the passenger side ones warm. The same was true of the plenum. is this normal, do I have a weak intercoolers? Does it matter? Hope this is of interest to people and that someone can advise me, Thanks, Tom.
  5. Great I can sleep soundly. When your car is very big, loud, red, and powerful; it needs to be very taxed and insured :-)
  6. Today I have to tax my 300zx TT for the first time. I know that the car is an import and I wonder if the last owner has done a bit of a fiddle with registering it, as he was a proper cowboy. The tax is £220 for a year, now my 1.6l MX5 was £250. Also its registered as PRIVATE/LIGHT GOODS (PLG) and the MX5 is PETROL CAR. Something feels wrong how much should it cost. If it is wrong I will sort it out. Thanks.
  7. urgh great :-/ thanks for the heads up mate.
  8. Just shopping for some of those right now, can you dim them down or wire them into the dimable dash lighting? As cool as they look they I reckon I could get a tan off them while on the motorway. Thanks
  9. Hi guys, I think my speedo may be going the same way, today I saw it have a wobble twice in 50 motorway miles today. It kicked down about 40mph then recovered with a bit of a jiggle (blink and you would miss it). Did your speedos do this before dying completely? Thanks
  10. That's kind of what I was thinking, what do people think about turbo insulation bags, do they not just cook your turbos?
  11. Well my car is sorted now running at 13.5psi and hasn't done anything funny in a few weeks , I love it. But, as I no longer have a knock sensor I want to be careful and know that it's always running in safe conditions. I plan to put 3 gauges under the radio I reckon oil temperature boost and air fuel ratio. The other thing worrying me is under bonnet heat, I know it has been hot weather recently but that engine kicks out some heat! I worry about heat soak on the intercoolers which are stock, am I right to think that if I boot it about with hot intercoolers I am one step closer to knock? What are peoples thoughts on turbo bags, exhaust heat wrap, scoops or celica GT4 style vents. I drove on a really cold night last night and it was noticeably quicker with the crisp air, it'd be nice to have that all the time. Thanks guys.
  12. I brimmed my tank with total excellium and drove 84 miles to work on the motorway with 10 miles of zooming about at each end. I brimmed it again to find I had used 14.25 liters of fuel. That's 26mpg I didn't expect anything as good as that I reckon I could stretch to 28 if I drove like a girl. I was using the boost gauge as a fuel consumption meter and found 80 a good speed.
  13. Just a post to say thank you all for your advice, the car now works better than ever. The leaking limping car I bought has been transformed. The resistor trick worked a treat, to be able to know that when I put my foot down it will just surge forward and not make that hiss of boost limiting disappointment is wonderful. I have re trimmed bits of interior I have made 2 awesome bags for the targa roof panels, they are black hard wearing material with a plush red lining and Velcro flaps, the panels fit perfectly in them and go into the boot. Zedworld stopped it leaving a trail of rainbows on the road and despite the coilovers is now comfortable and can tackle a speedbump (before it couldn't get up a drop curb). The air con isn't fixed yet but I will get to that, I am now a happy zed owner.
  14. Great advice thanks, I'll let you know when this stuff is sorted. I'm using a sewing machine atm doing some interior trimming! Some very wobbly red stitching on black leather lol
  15. HARBY300 hi mate, where do you get your work done up here? I can only really go to zedworld for a list of things to make the journey worthwhile, I have things on my wish list I get done down there one day manifolds and interviewers and stuff, just for little jobs I need someone near by.
  16. Thanks guys I have had a fun day working on my car but I wish it just worked, I'm done for today I've taped up loads of bare wire ends that have no obvious homes to go to. I have scraped quite some crud out of electrical connectors sprayed lots of stuff with WD40 and done a bit of cold air directing around the nose. Tidy engine bays make me happy. I would happily pop to zedworld but it's such a long way in any vehicle nevermind in the 300. I will yellow page an air con man and see what he says I hadn't thought of doing that. Can I do that dett sensor bypass in the footwell or just down the back of the engine? On the plus side today I found that it has a pretty good exhaust system on it :-)
  17. Thanks I will have a poke around the engine bay, I found the injector connection block was very manky. I don't think it is blowing hot, I have the little temp computer at 10 all the time on auto, but the econ button makes no difference and was told it needed re charging. The air coming out of the fans is tepid at best. Are they just a hot car and is the indicated ambient temperature a cabin temp or is it outside. Zedworld wisely didn't pump it up in case it was leaking and it would have been a waste of money as they said they needed to bring a bloke in to do it. Would kwik fit do it for 50 quid or is it some random old system in an awkward place.
  18. I've had my 91 import (2005) TT for about 2 months now and we have had ups and downs. After buying it as soon as I put my foot down on the test drive, I got home and found numerous faults. The previous owner said all the right things (mostly lies) and left me with a bodged and leaking injector, completely pissed suspension, leaking BOVs off a Supra, perished PS pipes, a *****cks 2 week old MOT with rear discs like poppadoms and leaking windows. Not happy with my £3000 sieve I gave it to Zedworld and got all sorts done, of note, BOVs removed, suspension aligned, and an ECU upgrade with 13.5psi boost. The problem now is that I got home (200+ miles from Zedworld) and the bloody thing wouldn't boost. It turns out it is safety boost and I have found a code 34 on the ECU which is dodgy knock sensor. I crawled under the car doing an impression of an ocean floor dwelling flat fish and there is no way I can find/replace the sensor. The problem is intermittent and I am reluctant to spend £100 or so on a new one. I don't think I am damaging it running in safety some times what do you suggest. I don't think it is knocking I run good fuel and stuff, im gona consider better (long) plugs. On another note, my air con doesn't work and I am driving round in the world's fastest oven, God knows what shape you need to be to have the fans blow on you but you need to be licking the radio for a start. Can Kwik fit pump it back up and are they all as hot as mine? It is ridiculous. Hope you can help, many thanks, Tom.
