  1. Best wishes on your Birthday Alex!
  2. Well from the photo it looks a job well done! Who was the ebay seller?
  3. Make sure that your front tension rods are not leaking (assuming you still have stock ones). When the silicon filled bushes fail they can cause vibration under braking. https://z32.wikispaces.com/Tension+Rod
  4. Come on, give us a clue! Where did you find it?
  5. What bad luck. Main thing is no one got badly hurt. Hope you are able to get another Zed for her.
  6. Quite, but as Hampster said whilst driving through France "it has an indicated 103K and still feels as tight as a drum - everything is electric and everything works". Not sure about "Bet you Paul Raymond had a 300ZX - it is a pornograher's car" though.
  7. Most of us have Noel. Some of the newer members won't have seen it though.
  8. Remember the 300ZX trip in France with a 944 and Capri? On BBC 3 now!
  9. I would never have guessed, you kept that quiet!
  10. You could have dropped in for a cuppa!
  11. The tapets are hydraulic and can drain down when the engine is unused for a length of time. This gives a "clicking" sound. Normally this will clear after the engine has got up to temp and been run. Good quality engine oil helps.
  12. Good. We have had cars on here that have had cambelt changes within a few thousand miles but have been unused for many years.
  13. Welcome Mike! Before moding bug gets going, give the car a good check over and service. When was the cambelt changed (if ever)? What is the condition of the sills and wheel arches (corrosion)?
  14. This one? http://aemelectronics.com/products/fuel-delivery/high-flow-fuel-pumps/320lph-high-flow-in-tank-fuel-pump-offset-inlet
  15. FYI - these are the same/similar but cost less: http://www.frost.co.uk/car-maintenance-tools-equipment-restoration/automotive-workshop-tools/shell-cradle.html
  16. How smooth is your drive? Would those small wheels would have a tendency to dig in as you push the car back into the garage?
  17. What does it say in the context of your original assertion that people are being prosecuted for doing 70mph on motorways? The BBC article states "781 had exceeded a speed limit of 70mph, according to Kent Police", but not by how much before being prosecuted and that it the point here.
  18. Not least in Dorset it would appear: http://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/news/11035973.Quick_learner_driver_gets_speeding_fine_____on_a_driving_lesson/ In that case the driver was offered a speed awarness course in line with ACPO guidelines. Was your 33mph man offered a course rather than points?
  19. There is nothing wrong with being pedantic when it separates fact from fiction. Here is a piece of fact from the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) document and policy of speed awarness courses contained within the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS) The document was last reviewed in January 2015 and the policies contained therein are current. The relevent section to this thread is: 3.2.1 National Speed Awareness Course is designed to cover appropriate offences detected by Automatic Camera Devices and Police Officers at the roadside within the range of (10% +2) mph to (10% +9) mph over the limit. They apply to all environments (with the exception of 20 mph zones and limits) and all classes of vehicles. Any collision involving excess speed would be more appropriate to the National Driver Alertness Course than Speed Awareness. http://www.acpo.police.uk/documents/uniformed/2012/201207UONDORSvAPP.pdf So these policies mean on motorways, speeding under 79mph is disregarded and 79mph to 86mph is possible National Speed Awareness Course. The key here is whether those drivers who were flashed on the motorways were then subsequently prosecuted and if so for what speed to see if things have changed.
  20. But who is "they"? Without an authoritative source this "news" is just conjecture and rumour-mongering.
  21. These emails from various party's have been doing the rounds. That particular one also has "could" and "may" in it. "Of those, 520 drivers and riders received tickets where the limit was set at exactly 70mph" for the Kent section" That makes no sense as the legal limit is 70mph.
