Got my 1st 300zx!
Power light flashing at start up is telling you there is a fault code stored in the auto box ecu link below shows you how to read this, it could be an old code and disconnecting the battery for an hour will reset it. Jeff https://z32.wikispaces.com/Automatic+Transmission+Diagnostics Codes All 10 flashes the same = No error codes detected. 1st flash longer than others = Revolution sensor is shorted or disconnected. 2nd flash longer than others = Speed sensor circuit is shorted or disconnected. 3rd flash longer than others = Throttle sensor circuit is shorted or disconnected. 4th flash longer than others = Shift solenoid "A" circuit is shorted or disconnected 5th flash longer than others = Shift solenoid "B" circuit is shorted or disconnected 6th flash longer than others = Overrun clutch solenoid circuit is shorted or disconnected 7th flash longer than others = Lock-up solenoid circuit is shorted or disconnected 8th flash longer than others = Fluid temperature sensor is disconnected or A/T control unit power source circuit is damaged. 9th flash longer than others = Engine revolution signal circuit is shorted or disconnected 10th flash longer than others = Line pressure solenoid circuit is shorted or disconnected All the same with no long start flash = Battery low, been disconnected, or control unit has just been reconnected.

Clutch Booster help please.
Just looking, the pipe comes out of the bulkhead above the clutch master cylinder which is located along side the brake servo on the drivers side, you can take it off there and cap it or take it off the balancer bar and cap the balancer bar as it works out the same thing. Clutch Booster help please.
For a temporary fix you can just remove the booster pipe and block it off, clutch operation will of course be harder but is a quick five minute get you out of trouble work around. As the servo are like £400 + and only available from Nissan your best bet is a refurb one, Jimmer ( trader on here ) can help with that as sells them for a fraction of new cost even though they are just like new see here > http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?185147-Reconditioned-clutch-booster Jeff

Noz prices on ecu is great!
Provided everything else is set up ok, the n/a engine will benefit from a small adjustment as I said, the main deal here is with no forced induction the load is way less which means long term will not be a problem. When you fit those headers you will notice a real big difference how it revs and pick up, all of the mods you have will work together very nicely. The original eprom ( chip ) will soldered to the board and the best way to deal with this is find an electronics shop / workshop that will do it for you, we always used a company who did ecu repairs so knew always did a great job, get them to fit a socket and from there on you can just plug in the new chip, should not cost more $50. Have fun Jeff

You can also squeeze a little more out of the non turbo by advancing the timing slightly (max 17tdc ) NOTE : this cannot be done with the TT. Ensure the car is all serviced up and set up to get the best from the new eprom, if you want to go a bit further with power, after market tubular headers make a big difference. Jeff

No not meant that way at all, maybe my clumsy way of saying, and it maybe a surprise as much as we all love it here there is many, many zed owners who are not on this forum, the UK is a large place and we had thousands of long term customers on our books and a good proportion were not on the forum as it was not their choice so the generalisation was not exclusively pointing at members here. "Disrespectful " ? never !! why would I want to be? this has been my working life for what seems like forever, and seemingly yours too albeit for a massively shorter period of time which may well attribute to why the difference in the zeds you have looked under as well as the reason that any particular zed is with you. "Absolute rubbish" Hang on, spend real time up close underneath even many shiny one`s and you will have a different opinion, you know I speak from direct experience here, I have stood under maybe 3 thousand zeds in my time maybe more including 1996/97 ones and I know the truth hurts but the facts are there to see, of course there are exception ones, never said any different, in fact quite the reverse if you read through it again. I also was not saying they are all shitters, what I was trying to illustrate was the big, big numbers are not going to be attained by the general cars. Jeff

Auto gearbox installation questions
Firstly they are there as a specialist breaker, cutting the loom should make the sale void in my mind as they can NOT warranty that box now, which the cynic in me would suggest from prior knowledge of them may of been deliberate, any problem later WILL be attributed to the loom and your splicing in ..... fact. Personally I would ring them up and ask why the loom was cut and how they expect you to fit it? also what effect this will have on warranty if you splice the old loom in, ask for the answer by e-mail. No doubt they charged you premium rate for the box ? just feels to me like you got half a deal. If you still want to proceed with it though, splicing in the loom is very possible and have actually done this when a customer presented us with a box for his zed minus the loom! mostly the cables are coloured or size appropriate, but you will also find many black ones in there, careful tracing and double checking will be required, lets hope your loom is not the problem with your existing gearbox! Good luck feller Jeff

Been a member of many car forums and clubs for longer than I wish to remember the above conversation has been discussed many, many times on many marques of car, trends go up and go down too, many E type jag owners found out in the mid eighties the car they thought was worth £200k and just had a £50k rebuild was very suddenly a £20k car, and now yes they are back as classic cars are on the up. But, as much as we all love the zx it just is not a classic in the true sense, we all talk about it been one but the fact is in 1990 it was ground breaking and an amazing car, but it has been eclipsed now by newer technology, and more over style. It will always be there as an icon of the early nineties, like the earlier hot hatches that were new then. But to be talking £20k now is nonsense and that trader is fishing for a massive pay day, no way did he pay anything like that for it, as a trader you would be mad to risk that much cash on such a fickle market. Enjoy your zed for what it is instead of getting hooked up on its future value, who cares really, they are 25 year old cars, mostly rusty and mostly worn out, yes I said it and you all know its true, granted we have some exceptional cases on here, but the main body of z32 on the UK roads are simply mediocre, that will not rise in value, quite the reverse if issues are not attended to. So to continue with this £10k, £15k, and £20k pricing is just trendy market manipulation not real value. Of course those with the really good ones can and most likely will just not sell below a "certain" price, but a price that in main does not apply to many. As a long term fan of the zed, ( had my first one over twenty years ago ) I speak it how it is, I feel the same about other similar cars like the Toyota Supra! madness prices at the moment on sale, but do they actual sell in big numbers at those prices? now that is the question. Enjoy your ride for now, only garage queens have any chance of the big numbers, and that is a shame, I made the same mistake having covered around 22k miles in 12 years, yes a got a reasonable price when selling but looking back I did not spend enough time in it to enjoy it, of course I could be totally wrong and we have slipped into a parallel universe where a 1970 RS Escorts would sell for £40k .......... oh crap they do !! Auto gearbox installation questions
Ah jeez ! no wonder they cut the cables, they supplied and fitted a replacement engine some years ago to a twin turbo zed, I did a tech on it as it came to us running badly, turned out it was a Non turbo engine they had swapped his old turbo`s and sump to, problem was they left the old non turbo injectors in !!! They did not have a clue, red rusty water in the rad and cables and pipes mixed up all over, snipping the loom on the auto box you bought from them actually means its not fit for purpose, as the box electrical system is so designed to just plug in.
