Hi all! First post on the forum! Just been browsing and it seems to a wealth of knowledge and know how. I have just bought a 1992 300ZX Turbo Automatic 86,000 miles which I will be collecting on Friday, I'm hoping to use the car for work for a few weeks ( a steady 15 min dual carriageway run twice a day) until the frosts and gritting start the put her away for the winter. It seems a solid car, good amounts of paperwork, plenty of MOT, smooth engine and gearbox and very minimal bodywork rust (might change when I get it up on a lift and get a good look under the chassis! Haha).

I'm fairly good with spanners and have access to plenty of tools, my father is an ex mechanic so hopefully I should be able to keep her on the road and I good order during the summer months!

Any advice on ownership/maintainence would be very much appreciated! I am Very exited the owner of one of these gorgeous machines!

Thanks !

Will

Looks like a neat car you have. Reliability wise, don't push it's limits and less stuff breaks. Depending on when your paperwork says it was last changed, replacing the timing belt and water pump might be a good idea, and general service (engine oil and filter, spark plugs, transmission fluid possibly).

Got any pics so far?

Hi,

Thanks! And that's the plan hopefully! Just look after her keep up the maintainence and tlc! Cambelt was changed by zedworld? Or similar z specialist, not 100% who as the paperwork is still with the car, less than 10,000 miles ago so that's one less thing to worry about! And yep I think the water pump will be on my to do list,

I'll try and get a pic up struggling at the moment as I'm using my mobile !

Thanks

Will

Or on mobile you can use an app called Tapatalk which can upload images easily.

Zed world was jefftt on here but he retired to Portugal last year, so now main mechanics are Lee in Shrewsbury or jimmer in Bristol.

Thanks for all the replys and compliments! I'll be honest these cars seem a bit daunting when it comes to working on them with the age, complexity and that packed engine bay! but signing up on here has put my mind at rest a bit! Looking through the threads you all seem like a helpful knowledgable bunch haha! It's reassuring to know that if I'm every truly stuck with something that there probably a thread or somebody on here who can give some insight :)

Thanks again !
