  1. Hi Mike, not saying your wrong just trying to work out the connection between the two, having just looked at the wiring diagram for both the HICAS and Speaker system nothing is shared, and whilst agree odd faults can be caused by inducted current, the speaker output from the head unit is a very low voltage signal and as such would not have enough power to cause such an issue. They do share a power supply rail in the fuse board however, that is all I can find, again no amount of thinking can come up with a way this could be an issue. In fact using the speaker cables in the way you have is fine and commonly done, the European and UK spec zeds had the small powered signal booster fitted to increase the rear speakers performance, however the Jap import does not and so uses the cables in the way you have but from factory without any issues. Just to make one point, there are in fact many shielded cables used on the zed and do work where sensors could be compromised by induction from close cables. To be honest I do not see how this could happen, however your seeing it happen, car electrical systems can do some strange things but after 20 years on zeds this is a first for me. Good luck with your investigations. Jeff
  2. Good man ! kind of a busman`s holiday anyhow for you eh? lol Jeff
  3. That is strange, struggling to see the connection between the rear speaker cables and the hicas, usually if hicas light comes on when on the highway / motorway is due to steering wheel input error, either the steering wheel angle sensor or if the wheel is way off centre. Anyhow I am going to look at the circuit diagram now as I am interested as to how this could occur the way you say, will come back once I have traced it out see what I can find. Jeff
  4. Mmm... nine answers incorrect there. Jeff
  5. Mmm... four answer`s incorrect.. Jeff
  6. Ooh some tricky ones there it seems, six of your answers are incorrect.... Jeff
  7. Evening guys, just a bit of fun, 23 zed items, name them and where they fit !! Jeff
  8. " Genuine 300zx bose front speakers with factory built in amplifiers. " Ha ha, more like line signal boosters rather than amplifiers, bear in mind this was made at a time when head units would be about 8 to 10 watts max output, so half that RMS !! Jeff
  9. Vid great, car great but the repetitive sound track beat made my ears bleed, spoilt it for me if I am honest, wish I had the skills to do that vid stuff though well done ! Jeff

  11. Do a leak down test will narrow it down for you. Jeff
  12. So that may well be the case not saying not, what I said was about the comment> " the tuner i have suspects there cheap chinese ones but am sure he was sold them as good ones some some were along the line some one had ripped him off and as a result the engine gave up very sad indeed" Which is wrong, not cheap Chinese one`s and no one was ripped off, the cost of the injectors to Errol was what we paid, no intention to "rip off " in any way, that was my point. Jeff
  13. No, they are the later one`s so designed for 94/95 on and so have to use adapters to fit earlier fuel rail !! gracious me keep up Jeff
  14. Still wrong, guy is asking about a swb, so to left of back seat is kind of not correct ! lol Jeff
  15. Precisely ! The supplier >>> http://www.coordsport.com/ Jeff
  16. All old, old information, read their website. In the above case it is been assumed that a running issue caused by the injectors, 2k miles later it was fitted with extra large turbo`s and inter coolers etc. by another well respected zed specialist and the engine was running so well, do not know what happened after that time, no actual engine fail diagnostic has been done that I know of. Jeff
  17. Mmm..... suspect that some of the op opinion here is slightly unfounded, ie Cheap Chinese knock off injectors. I will also assume and sure I am correct we are talking about Errol from London who broke his black twin turbo this year after spending a fortune on repaint, new interior, new wheels, suspension and even a private plate, the smallest spend been an engine rebuild that included new 555 injectors, that the op bought from Errol. So lets look at the pics below, these are the actual injectors in question £600 worth, early style fuel rail adapters also at £120. the injectors are Deatschwerks a well tested and trusted company, not Chinese knock off, they come with a pintle spray report and volume certificate. https://www.deatschwerks.com/ Quite why the flow pattern is not correct now is strange, maybe mishandled when removed ? who knows, problem with injectors is they are not good at been badly handled or and dropped maybe in transit unless in their original protection boxes. Ok so asuming we are talking about the same Errol ( sure we are ) the op tuner who said they are Cheap Chinese knock off`s is talking out of his backside and whilst answering this with a calm tone I am really quite annoyed again how unqualified comments are branded about here about here, if someone has something to say fine , do your research before commenting or can look foolish. Jeff
  18. Might be easier to rip out and start again, almost certainly the immobiliser circuits will be split, starter or ignition and fuel pump relay, all very close together and quite obvious, had to do this many times and often shocked by how easy it is to spot, not going in to too much detail here but most car Alarms are wired in using the provided loom which looks unlike the Nissan one so sticks out. Jeff
  19. Yes more zeds appeared on TG, the white one mentioned above and a second red one I think maybe more, the red one was one of three cars they drove across Europe for under £1,500 or a grand cannot remember now. All was not quite as its seems been tv, the water pump failed on the zed the day of filming and a TG researcher rang us to ask if we knew a quick way to change it, e-mailed them a breakdown of the job and later they called to order the parts that a courier collected !!! PDQ is an engine wash system derived from the US designed to remove the clear / brown gloop engines were covered in from factory at the time, if not cleaned off when new after many years its still stays sticky and gets a layer of dirt and grime on it, cleaning off then is a long dirty task. Note: Was only used on UK cars not JDM imports Jeff
  20. Just a picture I grabbed off Google not mine. Jeff
  21. Good point, some alarms have odd restart procedures, just Googled Cobra Alarms and found a few different ways depending on what exact model it is. If the " clean " battery reconnect does not work, Google: "reset Cobra Alarm ( insert model / number without brackets ) after battery disconnect " Jeff
  22. Small little red lever in front of the selector ( see below ) can be pushed down to release out of park in such cases. Battery voltage may of dropped enough to upset the alarm, but sounds like it was enough at 12.2v to be honest, when you removed the battery to remove the towel maybe you managed to get a bad connection on the battery terminals so the car was getting reduced voltage but when you checked the battery voltage at the battery posts it would be ok, the battery clamps are not the best and can get dirty inside, also is the earth connected to the body fixing behind the battery. Jeff
  23. Yep one of our customers, Top gear approached us looking for totally standard zed that could be put up against a totally standard 350z, at the time that white zed had less than 30k on the clock. When it came in for service it still had the plastic covers on the back seat and even on the bonnet release lever. As with many UK zeds the engine had not been correctly PDQ`ed and the engine still had the sticky gloop that should of been removed, it was nasty and so we detailed the engine in preparation of the TG day. The car is still owned by the same guy and he lives in Birmingham, he owned a large carpentry company but had a heart attack a few years back and the car has been laid up as a consequence, but heard this year it was brought out for the Summer. Jeff
  24. Thanks Alic, fat fingers small phone keyboard syndrom !! Jeff
