Another one, not sure many will be able to help unless with the car but after adding the metalwork back to car after cleaning I decided to start it and it wouldn't turn over or anything...then the alarm went off and the only way to stop it was to put my foot on the brake. Its now stuck on the drive in Park, with the battery off charging, just in case, although it was at 12.2V when read which should be sufficient to not cause these issues...right? Might have to call the auto electrician on this one, especially of I cant get it off the drive! Zany suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Steve

I've had alarms go crazy in the past if they're disconnected with the alarm armed. Once reconnected it went off loads and there wasn't much pattern to it. So maybe try disconnecting it again with the alarm disarmed and reconnect it again.

I assume you tried locking and unlocking? Resets them I think.

That's the plan for tomorrow, hopefully it will work. Tried unlocking and locking... tried a you tube reset and then the fob stopped working with the car and I had to use the spare one which again had the same issues.

The only thing is I didn't disconnect anything to clean the bay apart from the air filter.

Thanks.

Reading my post back I didn't make it clear what I meant, I meant disconnecting the battery. So try disconnecting the battery with the alarm disarmed. A simple thing of course but thought it worth mentioning just in case.

Now I think of it I had something similar before, couldn't get the immobiliser to let me start it no matter what I tried. It was disconnecting the battery that solved that

stuck on the drive in Park

Small little red lever in front of the selector ( see below ) can be pushed down to release out of park in such cases.

Battery voltage may of dropped enough to upset the alarm, but sounds like it was enough at 12.2v to be honest, when you removed the battery to remove the towel maybe you managed to get a bad connection on the battery terminals so the car was getting reduced voltage but when you checked the battery voltage at the battery posts it would be ok, the battery clamps are not the best and can get dirty inside, also is the earth connected to the body fixing behind the battery.

I have a Clifford alarm and when the battery is reconnected you have to shut the doors key and fob with you, hold down bonnet sensor, connect the battery and press lock unlock several times, otherwise alarm randomly goes off. Hope that may help.

Good point, some alarms have odd restart procedures, just Googled Cobra Alarms and found a few different ways depending on what exact model it is.

If the " clean " battery reconnect does not work, Google: "reset Cobra Alarm ( insert model / number without brackets ) after battery disconnect "

I wandered what the hell that was for. Nice selector, where did you get that from, very futuristic!

Sorry guys, tried all and it didn't work. The Cobra expert on the other end of the phone couldn't work it out either... Auto electrician is coming out on Monday!! :crying:

Maybe you disturbed some wire and it thinks it's getting tampered with

Possibly, maybe over the weekend I take all the metal work back off, put a tea towel under the battery, unplug lighter and then try from there....lol

Might be easier to rip out and start again, almost certainly the immobiliser circuits will be split, starter or ignition and fuel pump relay, all very close together and quite obvious, had to do this many times and often shocked by how easy it is to spot, not going in to too much detail here but most car Alarms are wired in using the provided loom which looks unlike the Nissan one so sticks out.

Tried one last code from the internet and low and behold it worked. Starts every time and sorted....I also read that if you sit on your keys and press the buttons on the fob in a certain way this will often cause issues needing a restart. Hopefully this is the issue. Another problem solved with the help of you kind folk. Back to polishing!!!!

Nice, what exactly was it you had to do? What do you mean by code?

Press the large button when outside the car and let the tone like buzz sound ring for 15 seconds, then your done. I was stopping it after 5 seconds because it was loud!!!!! Jobs done.
