  1. That means you have a fault with the ABS system and has been disabled, believe that is an MOT failure now, the ABS ecu has a built in code check light you can read. Check the link out for a tech thread I did about it. >> http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?153888-Abs-Tech&highlight=ABS Jeff
  2. The alternator has an exciter circuit to regulate the charge rate, the fuse for this has a habit of going high resistance and will prevent the light going out and the alternator actually charging. Check out the relay and fuse box on the passenger inner wing under the bonnet, identify the "eng cont " fuse, should be a red 10 amp, change it regardless of what it looks like, as I said they can go high resistance rather than blow, so check the contact points are clean / spray with wd40. The battery drain could be a series of problems but often it is corossion in electrical connectors in the foot wells either side close to the targa drain pipes, did some tech thread on just that problem here >> http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?175920-Pesky-targa-drains-and-electrical-issues&highlight=targa+drain http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?132099-Water-leaks-electrical-issues-and-targas&highlight=targa+drain http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?146736-Another-targa-drain-tech&highlight=targa+drain Jeff
  3. Mmm... false market had done you over in my view, saying that, what we spend on cars for personal styling is rarely recouped but but paying top money and then finding basic mechanical and body work faults is damn annoying. In 1993 I bought a black 1990 import Zed twin turbo showing 40k kilometres from an importer, paid £7,500 at the time UK cars were around £22k so my import looked a fantastic bargain, but of course though I was treated like a pariah at Nissan dealers and was way before the import scene had taken off so suffered the usual "oh its an import " and much less club and show scene, so set about learning all I could about this car and amazingly had picked up a zed full of Veilside add on`s ( lucky ) Changed the cambelt, serviced and enjoyed... NO RUST in those days of course. I sold it a year of so later for over £10k as the import scene had taken off, waited a full year and bought another import twin turbo for £4,500 ( garage did not know what they were selling ) were still £10k + then anywhere else, this was my car until sold a couple of years ago. with bits I got £7k for it, strong money but the car had been lavished upon with new everything basically, was my second learning car after all. So here we are now seeing £20k prices ( utter madness ) £12k prices ( madness ) and sub £10k prices, ( good if the car is sorted ) however the £2k to £6k market is still a hit and miss affair.Given now the corrosion issues with both UK and Import zeds its vital to have a full inspection when buying including the all important look underneath on a ramp, if the seller is reluctant, just walk away. One point, remember when I bought my first zed back in the early nineties when UK prices were + £20k and my import sub £10k, what happened? UK cars were always considered "better" by many and we all know they are more or less the same car with just the country of first use difference, hey mine was only 3 years old at the time, and I know has just this year been broken up by the owner, so lasted just as well as a UK model, only been broken to recoup some money on a massive custom overspend. So what do we have here, a situation where we all want our cars to be worth big bucks of course we do, BUT, hand on heart how many have really been the subject of a worthy life, my last one was essentially a garage queen, which was a total waste, sold it with just 27k more miles than it had all those years ago when I bought it. Had a moment of madness ( or clarity ?) and tried to buy it back last year, the new owner of course wanted too much for me to buy it back and I know that motor inside out! be real careful guys when buying as there is so much over priced and under worked on one`s they can spell financial ruin if you get it wrong. Jeff
  4. Estimated retail value £2, 450 Current bid £275 CAT B BREAKER So parts only and only a registered breaker can buy and must prove chassis / body destroyed after the parts are removed, so in theory not going to make much if any more money than £275 how things have changed / changing. Jeff
  5. Yes I agree, since these current mad prices started the amount of classic and less than classic cars that have surfaced is a surprise, and to me actually could have a negative effect, not that long ago a lotus Cortina was a rare, rare beast, maybe one or two popping up, there is 5 on Ebay right now, and classic car sites maybe a few dozen more, seems to me many of these cars are not as rare as previously thought. It could implode very suddenly with a combination of over stock and a change in the interest rates etc. then some 100k cars suddenly worth a lot less and buyers again waiting another 20 years for the prices to return, or I could be wrong who knows ?? Jeff
  6. We too will be 1500 miles away so put them up early so we could have a couple of weeks of it before we leave, not back till the new year. Jeff
  7. Jeff

  16. Cheers guys, all the comments appreciated. Jeff
  17. You have to admit a car designed with 500 bhp from factory will always feel better sorted, consistant, reliable and down right sexy compared to " upgrading / forcing " a lesser engine to perform above its design. Been part of the factory 500bhp club does make for a fun driving experience whilst not having to contantly monitor the engine temp and such like. Jeff
  18. Well there you go guys, woke up today having attained 30 years married, feeling proud of my lady. Jeff Ps. I did not do the hearts on the picture !!
  19. This is such a common mistake !! the hoses are very likely correct but the garage will have looked at the standard hose expecting it to be the same. However the standard hose terminates into a small section of metal pipe fixed to the brake caliper. The new hoses fit direct into the caliper, the fitting are different for that reason. On a side note did they do a fluid change? or at least discharge the final part of the circuit close to the caliper? makes a worthy difference to preventing brake fade. Jeff
  20. Sorted thanks, remembered a second password and got logged in via that why the pin has changed I do not know, it does not seem to have liked it did a system update whilst in Cyprus, got a mail to say detected odd behaviour: unusual log in location ?? what ever.. Jeff

  22. So was using my pc earlier just on .co.uk site and left it idle for 30 mins whilst having lunch. When I returned the lap top was performing a system update which I had not started etc. Unable to stop it of course have left it all afternoon and when I returned it was showing win 10 log in screen and my name as normal. However it is not recognising my pin ?? gives me an option of pin or password, as only had a pin I tried admin admin and variants but nothing is letting me in ?? help Jeff
  23. Yes looked at all the options including brussels but the connecting flights were a 6 or 7 hour wait, bugger that detest hanging around airports as it is and actually worked out cheaper to include an overnight stop in UK. Jeff
  24. Midnight arrival prob not best idea, but hey first leg complete of a 6 thousand mile round trip, pain in ass that have no direct flights from Portugal , Cyprus tomorrow for 12 day holiday yippee !! Jeff
