Hello guys. I'm looking for a bit of help.

So im currently restoring a tt that's been off the road for 6 years. The battery light was on so we replaced the alternator for a known good one and fitted new belts. Battery's light was still on so I fitted a brand new battery. Light still on. I have checked all obvious earth's and wires that I can see but no joy. I also think it may have a drain as I fully charged a battery and left it over night and it was dead the following morning only other thing worth a mention is that the anti lock light is on. And also when I replaced the alt the thicker wore had a bit if green to it and was a tiny but frayed I'm hoping it's not this ad I really can't be arsed to remove it all again

Amy help appreciated guys. I'm hoping for some common problems I may have not checked.

Not sure if this is relevant, but I too had a bad drain on my TT.

Turned out to be a corroded connector in the right hand side of the drivers footwell, beneath with the fuse box.

It wasn't apparent at first, only found it when I dismantled the connector itself.

Quick check! Look at ur brake peddle to see if ur green stopper has not corroded!

This stopper presses onto the switch & closes the circuit to ur brake lights.

U need to look under & up at the peddles with a light.

The alternator has an exciter circuit to regulate the charge rate, the fuse for this has a habit of going high resistance and will prevent the light going out and the alternator actually charging. Check out the relay and fuse box on the passenger inner wing under the bonnet, identify the "eng cont " fuse, should be a red 10 amp, change it regardless of what it looks like, as I said they can go high resistance rather than blow, so check the contact points are clean / spray with wd40.

The battery drain could be a series of problems but often it is corossion in electrical connectors in the foot wells either side close to the targa drain pipes, did some tech thread on just that problem here >>

Anti lock light not meant to be on then? I always assumed it was just telling you it was on when lit up yellow, mines always on

That means you have a fault with the ABS system and has been disabled, believe that is an MOT failure now, the ABS ecu has a built in code check light you can read.

Check the link out for a tech thread I did about it. >> http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?153888-Abs-Tech&highlight=ABS
