  1. Mmm... not really, then 18 months in the sun has fired my brain a bit ha ha !! Jeff
  2. Answering in the order you asked Add four litres when the box is installed down the dipstick hole. Start the engine and with foot on the brake select all gears and then back to Park, wait a few minutes ( warm up ) and then do the gear selection again and back to park, now replace the dipstick and check the level, add 1/2 litre and check again etc. No real hard bits other than the weight, lots of care has to be taken to stay safe. If the loom has been cut you have some trouble depending if all cables have been cut, if so you cannot just swap the sensors over as some of the cables go direct into the box. This will need the old loom to be grafted into the replacement box, personally I would not have touched a box with cut cables, the seller clearly removed it the wrong way from the doner car. Did the box come with its own torque converter ? always good to keep them together, your existing torque converter is most likely contaminated. Jeff
  3. Did you all spot the white zed on the left ?? Jeff
  4. Facebook embed code just do this
  5. Anyone know a simple way to share Facebook videos here with out have to mess with shockwave, flash and embed coding ? Seems a ball ache ?? If not and using the code below, is it just added as text, or a http link? To embed a Facebook video in your website, blog posts or in any webpage simply copy the Video ID and replace with XXX in the following code: allowscriptaccess=”always” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”400″ height=”224″> Jeff
  6. Hiya indeed I did indeed retired last year, however just reading your post it is very likely you do not need a new switch and the problem is with the window amplifier / relay unit, check out the link below, one of my old tech threads that details the problem and how to fix it for free. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?128022-power-window-repair-(inside-out-feature)&highlight=window Jeff
  7. Oh my eyes are hurting !! Jeff
  8. Sure Jim would have checked, but the "bonnet cricket" can be the source of irritating squeak, worth greasing the bonnet lock hasp and try it, just might be that and not the suspension. Jeff
  9. No, think he has been unwell and recovery has taken longer than expected. Jeff
  10. Not sure really that would happen, looks like an extra coat of pearl has been added to the outside. Jeff
  11. Not sure of the original yellow? the door shuts and under bonnet colour is a different shade but tidy car Zed though. Jeff
  12. That corrosion hole if I am not mistaken is under the battery tray, would be inclined to take the battery out and have a good look around there. Have done welding repairs in that exact same spot in the past will see if I can find the pictures on here somewhere, but in the meantime check out the battery tray link of mine below from several years ago Jeff http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?129211-Rotten-battery-tray-replacement&highlight=battery+tray
  13. Always said the single peice propshaft was its hidden gem !! Lol Jeff
  14. A warm engine is an important criterion when doing a compression test, all of those figures will rise when warm even the lowest number six cylinder which is tragically low. Jeff
  15. Sold mine for £6k in 2012, so not sure the prices have gone up quite as much as peeps think, the £20k one seller is a Joker Jeff
  16. Completely off the scale of sense and reality, this is both the trade and owners trying to force the values up, this also not confined to Jap metal, try finding a 70`s Escort Mexico under £30k !! its like house prices before 2008! cars are been used as currency because actual money has little value long term investment potential. But the classic car scene has been here before with E types jags and such selling for £200k one year then dropping like stones again once the money market picks up, and can go either way really, for me trusting spending the deep end of £30k on a car barely out of nappies in real classic terms is way too risky, that Supra for instance on Piston Heads is horrendous and will never have a resale close to that value, I mean they made thousand of them and not like they are rare, go to a Jap car show and you will see fields of them, the 300zx as great as it is will never be an Escort Mexico or an E type jag, there is of course a following and keeping the prices realistic will actually be more fruitful to the marque in my view. Jeff
  17. We of course would all be well happy if our £6k zeds became £20k rare gems overnight but truth is it is not going happen, well not just yet. This is a simple case of the used car industry tying to manipulate the market with high prices, on the premise that if enough traders ask for high prices then that will become the norm. Trouble is as much as well all love the z32 they and this one do not come without the typical zed characteristic faults, this one in particular could be what they say an absolute gem, but, start using it as a daily as a twin turbo should be driven and you will soon see that your £20k spend been just the start of your wallet bashing, the seller even describe`s the engine as a "somewhat characterless unit" which for me suggests immediately it is not running correctly, be it in low boost mode, timing wrong or even worse turbo issues, I would never in a million years describe the engine when running correctly in that way?? I am not been a hater but at £20k it need`s to be damn perfect and the pictures show a tidy example not a perfect one, the arial is up in ever outside picture, I would hazard a guess it is stuck up as it is unlikely they had the radio on whilst doing the pictures, the offside indicator / side light unit looks to be not straight, could be not fitted correctly after a bulb change, however the bumper below where the inter cooler vents are also looks distorted, call me a cynic but that could mean it has had previous damage in that area and not lined up correctly?? The interior shots look tired, all acceptable in a well price car but not at £20k, no way, no engine shots is odd, when your selling a sports car. The seller has gone to some clever lengths to suggest its a super classic but at the same time saying its a heavy car with clumsy targa roof and a lack luster engine, but in such a way as many would not notice, of course this covers him if someone paid the money and were less than happy after. Jeff
  18. I was not saying anything after market has a high failure rate per se, I was commenting on what I have OBSERVED as we ALL have here, that original fit parts appear last longer than those fitted at rebuild time, and more often than not those parts are sold as "upgrades" to the standard item, so by that distinction you would expect them to be better, stronger and longer lasting, but in the real world it seems they are not. Jeff
  19. Why you tying to make an argument? its a simple discussion, anything that was not fitted as standard and is either an upgrade or a hybrid is in general referred to as "after market" Jeez talk about pedantic !! Jeff
  20. Hit the nail on head there !! Jeff
  21. If it is not held open it will not work. Jeff
  22. Never said they were, but, many last 100k and more before been changed, was asking if anyone has rebuild turbo`s or after market ones that have covered that mileage, can bet the answer is no. Jeff
  23. Sorry you misunderstand, what I was saying is the standard original fit turbo`s seem to have a longer life than the expensive hybrid upgrade ones that are sold under the premise they are stronger, but its seems the opposite. Jeff - - - Updated - - - Yep agree. Jeff - - - Updated - - - Cannot fault your thinking there, much prefer to change the oil and filter too many times than anything else, to me its money in the bank. Jeff
