  1. I have to say, Jeff's 540 is a very nice motor - I've seen it at Zedworld once or twice and Lynda collected me from the station in it last time I was there.... ......maybe Jeff's right Stu; don't rule out the 540 just yet! The 540 engine is used in the new Morgan (among others) with good results.... Richard:cool2:
  2. Hi Baz, the Saab(s) and the Volvo would be nice, fairly swift motors.... .....but if you're even considering the VW or Audi 1.8 turbos; forget it and go with their 2.0 turbo diesel versions instead! Much better than the 1.8 turbo petrol units. Every bit as quick (maybe quicker) and better economy/reliability/durability to boot...!! Richard:whistling:
  3. I agree - come on fellas; who wants a great value daily driver.....? .....And a free "bump" since the proceeds are going to a very worthy cause! Richard:sorcerer:
  4. Not to my knowledge mate..... .....the only way of checking the internals is to dismantle the engine AFAIK...... Richard:oops:
  5. Hi Gary As soon as you remove the bolts I'd say that if there's a seal between the two pieces of the rim, it will be broken. But if the two pieces are the just the centre piece and the outer rim where the tyre is mounted, then I'd reckon it's possible...... Richard:chef:
  6. Welcome to the club!! Richard:thumbup1:
  7. Yes, this is a great looking product and one that I hope can be brought into the UK. But at the moment "The Twinz" is not a subscribed member and consequently is not permitted to sell on the forums. I realize that the they have asked about a UK distributor and would refer them to our traders so see if anyone is interest in importing them. Otherwise please refer to Znut - the club's TLO regarding any other possibilities for selling on this forum. For the time being the other moderators and I think it's best to close this thread to prevent any misunderstandings. Thanks for understanding - and to "The Twinz" good luck with the product! Richard:cool3:
  8. I agree - M5 all the way!! Richard:cool2:
  9. Many happy returns mate!! Richard:happybday:
  10. Very sorry to hear that Martin. I hope you can get it sorted quickly and with minimum fuss buddy. Richard
  11. You buy the same perspex strip as the de-spoilered cars and simply get it sprayed! Ask Mike Feeney in the traders section. The Z centre also sells the strip; but he's not a trader on here; plus IIRC Luke is on holidays until mid-August. So MJP is your best bet! Richard:cool2:
  12. I'm with Allan there..... .....0-60; 0-100 and the 1/4 mile have been done to death by the world and its dog nowadays. But 200mph is still, for most, an unattainable goal. Remember when 5th Gear tried it with their project Esprit V8 and failed....? Go for it!! Richard:chef:
  13. And no sea breeze to cool the place down? HOpefully we'll have a nice big storm to clear the air..... Richard:balloon:
  14. I feel for you there mate - I hope they get it sorted ASAP so you can get some sleep mate. Richard:sweatdrop:
  15. I have had an issue with my a/c but that was down to a metal pipe springing a leak and dumping the new gas into the atmosphere.... ......I have no idea what that squeek is on yours mate but this was one suggestion I got from JeffTT about the lack of cold air (before he saw the broken pipe)... "lack of cold air could be due to a sensor fault opening the heater matrix at the same time slightly which cancels out the ac." Otherwise, with the engine running and the a/c on, look at the pipes on the left hand side of the engine, near the battery; there should be one which has a glass "spy hole" near the re-filling nozzles. If you can see the liquid or bubbles flowing past then you have gas in the system; if not you need a re-gas. If you can't see the refridgerant flowing, and since you've recently has a re-gass, you too may have a leak. As Jeff advised me, there is not much in the way of DIY you can do with the a/c so your best bet is to find a mobile a/c specialist and get him to take a look. Richard:cool2:
  16. I don't know what it's like where you all are, but here in Bucks is't damn hot and muggy tonight........ .........I'm so glad I bought an air conditioner a couple of years back!! My bedroom is lovely and cool - it'll be just like sleeping in a fridge. Ahhhhhhhh:whistling: Richard:cool3:
  17. Happy birthday buddy!! Richard:punk:
  18. I'm with you there Graham.... Richard
  19. You're welcome buddy - I'd say it's most likely the PVCs then!! My red Z used to smoke a lot on idle after a long run. I replaced the PCVs and the problem went away..... .....for a couple of years! Second time it most probably was a turbo seal! Richard:cool2:
  20. Can't comment on the steam/coolant issue.... ......but the blue smoke on idle could indeed be the PCVs in need of replacement. Otherwise, at worst, it could be the first symptoms of turbo seal failure...... I'd have the PCV valves replaced first - much cheaper than pulling the engine for the turbo seals - and hopefully that may solve the problem. Richard
  21. Hi Leo, First thing I'd do is replace the radiator cap. At higher temps, the coolant expands past the cap and into the expansion bottle. Once the engine cools, the coolant is sucked back into the radiator. If the cap has passed its sell by date, it may not operate properly and coolant can escape. Plus it's probably the easiest and cheapest component to replace! Richard:yes:
  22. Welcome to the club mate!! Richard:chef:
  23. Just brilliant!! I can't wait - Top Gear is the only justification the BBC has for their licence fee.... .....if it wasn't for TG then I doubt I'd bother paying £140+ p/a just to line some lefty, vegetarian, sandle wearing, gay/lesbian's pockets!!! Richard:cowboy:
  24. Nice one Mikey!! Richard:chef:
  25. As above... ....anyone been today or going tomorrow? I love history so we're off to Kelmarsh Hall tomorrow for a gander. We went a couple of years ago and it was a pretty good day out. Richard:chef:
