Private plate questions
Hi Dave When you buy the plate, you receive the retention certificate which is your entitlement to use that registration. Then you obtain a form to assign the plate to a vehicle (or IIRC, the retention certificate can be that form). You apply to transfer the reg to your vehicle and send the new reg certificate along with your V5 and mOT certificate to your local VRO (not DVLA Swansea); with the £80 fee. The local DVLA VRO will then advise you that the transfer has taken place and issue you with a new tax disc and MOT for your car bearing the new reg number - within about 5 days. You then purchase new plates and put them on your car; advise your insurance co and return the old tax disc to the DVLA in the envelope they provide. Job done - then within a couple of weeks DVLA Swansea send you a new V5. It's pretty easy really; I have personalized plates on my 3 cars and each time I change cars, I have to go through the transfer process as I don't want to lose my reg numbers...... Richard:thumbup1:

V-Power...
TBH I also doubt you'll notice much difference; apart from maybe a few extra miles to a tankfull. On a standard NA super unleaded is not necessary - I have a UK spec TT and the car is fine on regular 95RON. Although I do notice a slight improvent using super or V-power in very hot weather (like over 26 degrees). And Si is right about supermarket fuels; there are only a few refineries countrywide, so most fuel stations get their stock from the same sources! Albeit some brands are supposed to add beter quality additives or detergents..... Me, I only use Shell or BP but that is because I collect Pluspoints or Nectar points. I'm not going to spend £80 on a tankful and not earn something back..... Richard:cool2:

Summer arrive's but..
I agree Graham....... ......luckily no-one here has them either. Just the occasional BBQ..... I thought so too Allan - but aren't there different rules for in towns/cities compared to villages/rural areas?? I don't know - never had the need to burn anything in the garden..... Richard:cool3:

lazy lifter
And an oil change using a decent grade synthetic oil with the genuine Nissan filter. Do you drive the car much? If not, then after the above, take it on a good long run to really get the oil flowing round the engine properly. Richard:biggrin:

Cheap UK series 2 Manual...
Yup - thought so; and the yellow was only during 1990/91 depending on when the first few cars were registered. Not sure; but for the series 2 UK cars the colours were (316) Arctic White; (GL1) Panther Black; (AJ4) Flame Red; (KL1) Tempest Grey Pearl and (TK3) Marine Blue Graphite Pearl..... .....according to the 1992/3 sales brochure!! wanna sell my z but dont know whats it worth
Exactly what my learned colleague says..... .......My advice on setting a price; look on Auto Trader or Piston Heads' websites to see what similar condition cars are going for and price yours accordingly. Unfortunately from past experience threads such as this have developed into "for sale" typre threads as everyone knows one is trying to sell. And as you may know, we have rules that only subscribed members are allowed to sell. Consequently I do not think it's a good idea for you to post pictures or other links to your car in this thread so I am going to close it now. If you have anymore questions about this please feel free to e-mail me on richardsmith@300zx.co.uk Richard:cool2:

Cheap UK series 2 Manual...
That doesn't look a bad car; nothing that a little TLC couldn't put right! Although I agree with Legrath on the colour - I don't think UK spec cars came in pearl white.... Richard:cool3:

Average age of a z32 owner???
I'm 40 and I'm now on my second Z32. I bought the first one as a daily driver in 2003; but [each] ZX has been a weekend toy since autumn 2004. My garage consists of (with model/years, just to annoy.....!!) 1994 Uk spec ZX TT auto (replaced previous 1991 Uk spec ZX TT auto) 2006 Merc SLK 350 tiptronic (daily driver for last 2 and a half years) 2002 Toyota Rav-4 NRG 2.0 (Used by Julia daily; or by me in snow!!) Emergency Budget
Unfortunately tough measures are necessary in order to reduce the vast deficit left by the outgoing government. The VAT increase is harsh; however let's not forget that (petrol aside) real necessities like food are zero rated. And the duty on fuel/alcohol has been frozen (or in the case of cider for the chavs; the previously planned increase was reversed!!). There have been a fair few critics of the Chancellor's plans; but lets be honest, everyone knew there was going to be some pain no matter who won the election. Geoffry Howe made similar changes when he became Chancellor in 1979; which in the end paid off and returned the country's funds back into the black. Richard:flowers:

Is the 370Z any good?
I'd say the 370z is indeed a good car! It has compared well against the Boxster in road tests so that's a pretty good indication.....:thumbup1: I'm not sure I'd buy one for myself though; but that's just down to my own personal preferences...... Richard:cool2:

New Car
Nice car mate! The Alpina BMs are ultimate "street sleepers" since they don't look vastly different from most other cars in the range. But let them loose...... Good luck with it! Richard:thumbup1:
