The Cars of the Oil-Rich I Saw Today
You know, jealousy is for the weak......:tt2: ......But I'd kill for a Veyron....... I've nothing against the vastly wealthy and good luck to them I say. But what I find hard to accept is when it is undeserved.... ......Like the Arab (or any other nationality; including English) playboys living of their father's money. Get of your arse and do something for yourself you lazy workshy layabouts.... And, dare I say it, footballers. Sorry; but why does some thick as shite young thug deserve to earn more in a week than a heart surgeon earns in a year? I mean a heart surgeon studies for years and then he has peoples' lives in his hands. The Prime Minister earns around £150k p/a and he has the pressure of running a country - good or bad (depending on your political views) he earns his money. But Rooney & co on £150k per week - please? Sorry - rant over! Some great pics there mate! Richard:cool2:

Looking to buy a ZX - need some advice
Hi Phil Welcome to the club!! You've come to the right place for everyting 300zx related..... Some sound advice there already - all I would add is once you have decided on the NA/TT issue, buy the cleanest example you can! Manual TTs are rare now and will command a premium; but don't write off the auto. Performance figures for the TT auto and manual are pretty close; although the feel and the way they seem to deliver the power are different. But if you do end up with an auto, you can have it converted for about £1600 later. As for insurance, a lot of us have daily drivers and use the 300zx as a second car - so we have classic car policies. This can cost as little as £200 f/c; but you do have a mileage limitation (either 3k or 5k per annum, for example). Plus some of us are advancing in years now............:innocent: Good luck in your search - and check our for sale section! Richard:cool2:

Mintex brake pads
JeffTT has just fitted a set to my Z (along with an upgrade to drilled/grooved discs) and they are good. Whilst not up to the standard of an expensive big brake conversion, they are good value and certainly an upgrade to stock. Richard:biggrin:

shell helix ultra 5w-40
That is cheap! Although they have updated the product slightly (probably just new packaging......) as it now comes in 1 and 5 litre tubs. My local Shell garage sells the 5 litre one for £39.99..... ......but I have a company Allstar fuel card.......:innocent: Richard:donatello:

for once justice has prevailed
Good news there! Sad but true in our warped society.... Exactly - this country needs to be tougher on crime and make it clear that glorifying crime will not be tollerated either. Richard:huh:
-
shell helix ultra 5w-40
Yup - I'm a regular user of this!! It falls within the recommended Nissan grades for a TT (being fully synth and better than a 10w40 semi)! Go for it - I've never had a problem, perfect oil pressure, no noises etc etc; and it's a decent quality oil too (good enough for Ferrari according to their ad campaign). Richard:thumbup1:

Happy birthday Andy Meeson
Many happy returns Andy.... ......have a great day!! Richard:thumbup1:

10w-50 in a Z?
Noooo! a "30" grade is too thin for a ZX when the engine it warm. That's more like the grade needed for more modern engines with less wear and tighter mechanical tollerance! Nothing less than a "40" hot grade for a ZX - 0w40; 5w40 or 10w40 is within Nissan recommendations...... Yes it will be just fine - especially on a TT with some engine modifications! Richard:cool3:

New Car...and it's not a Z...
That looks tough - I like it mate!! Good luck with it.... Richard:cool2:

think i may have found the source of my blow
I fully understand buddy! You have indeed started a reasonable thread and certainly you are entitled to expect a reasonable response with some sound advice. It's just that sometimes threads can get out of hand through no fault of the original poster. The moderators have to keep the forums running smoothly and fairly for the benefit of ALL users. So my advice: If you have been wronged by another member (whilst it may/may not fall outside the responsibility of 300zx.co.uk) please drop Znut or me a PM detailing the circumstances, dates etc. We'll do whatever we can to help! I'm closing this thread now as I don't see any benefit to it remaining open. Richard:cool2:

think i may have found the source of my blow
Whilst I fully agree that bad garages, who rip of their customers, should be named, shamed and stamped out; we must be careful about what is said about whom on open forums. And if any arrangement is made between 2 or more members for providing a service in exchange for money; that transaction is a private arrangement between the individuals concerned and nothing whatsoever to do with 300zx.co.uk. If you have been wronged in such a way by an active member of the this club; whilst he/she is an active member, then you can report the incident to our TLO - Znut - by the usual means. However please note the aformentioned comment that the issue remains nothing to do with the club! Although if an individual is continuing to offer their services (for money) to other club members on a regular basis with, let's say, less than satisfactory results; then The Committee would like to hear about it. We can (and will) then act regarding said member accordingly! If anyone does have something they would like to say, please PM me or Znut (or e-mail me at richardsmith@300zx.co.uk). Otherwise please keep any personal mud slinging off the forums! Thanks. Richard:cool3:

Pics of progress!
It's coming on nicely Paul...... .....and BTW I remember hearing somewhere that you can get smooth stone-chip paint now! Richard:cool2:

2 hypercars on the road this week.....
Whilst I've seen the mighty Bugatti Veyron in the flesh at at least 3 cars shows; I've never seen one on the road.... .....Until Sunday - a silver one passed me on the A404 near Marlow!!! Awesome road presence and a sound to die for..... And then today a white Lexus LFA thingy (or whatever it's called) passed me on the M40 this afternoon!! Who'd have thought it? Richard:rockon:

maserati 3200-4200
Hi Allan, Personally I think you've done the right thing buying your M3 mate! I do love the Mazza; and I have thought on more than one occasion about buying one as a daily driver...... ......But even with newer, lower mileage examples, I've seen sense and walked away. That Ferrari engine is a peach; but I just don't fancy the maintenance costs. German all the way for me too - that's why I bought a Merc. Richard:cool3:

Hello - I'm Jan
Well I suppose it's a girly thing.... ........although mine is just called "Z" just as my previous one was...!! But it's the only car I've ever referred to by a name though (no, wait - when I used to have a Mk3 Supra Julia referred to it as KITT. Well it was black with a digital dash and was a little bit like....... well you get the idea!!). Richard:whistling:

Rainwater causing me problems
Yup - especially with an aftermarket induction kit replacing the air box.... Richard:cool3:

Rear Arch Rust
Hi James, That'd be my thoughts too mate - and you'll soon find out when the car goes in for a respray! You can buy replacement weld-in arch panels. IIRC MIke at MJP (see traders section) sells them. Also I'd advise checking the sills in detail now - they often follow the arches.... Richard:cool3:

Worst Countach Replica I've ever seen! LMAO
Oh dear....... Richard:sad:

Probably a repost, but a rare and expensive Zed
No! Uk cars were just series 1 and 2; most of the later registered UK cars were most probably manufactured a few months earlier but were just hanging around dealerships waiting to be sold. Hence the very few "M" registered ones that crop up now and again.... Richard:cool2:

Hello - I'm Jan

How secure are these cars?
Whilst the standard anti-theft systems are rubbish, one has to weigh up the liklihood of the car being stolen. It's less likely someone will steal the car for a joyride or to clone; it's too rare/noticable! More likely a thief will pinch it to break for parts as the Z32 is expensive to maintain..... ......Or it'll just get broken into for the stereo if you have an aftermarket system fitted.... A reasonable Toad or Clifford Cat 1 will set you back around £300; and TBH it's not worth spending any more than that (providing it's a Cat 1). As said above, if someone really wants to steal it they will; whether you have a £300 or £1000 security system. Richard:cool3:
