  1. how well would a 300zx go on vodka? Im betting it would be fairly potent for a few miles before it rammed of the road by an Ox and Cart!
  2. I paid about £1400 third party, when 20 with a years no claims. Lots but worth it!
  3. Ha genius, im moving to romania! For the ladies!
  4. the 8 bit were on the earlier cars and the 16bit were on the later cars that conformed to OBCII spec (onboard diagnostics basically) 8 bit and 16 bit refers to the amount of data the ecu's cpu can address at anyone time, and also has some bearing on the total addressable memory available to the cpu. IIRC someone did once say that having an 8 or a 16bit ecu made no difference to a standard car but it was much harder (if even possible??) to chip a 16bit
  5. I'm 20... so fairly young. There was a guy at 19 a few months ago but he didnt keep his long. Was nice if i remmember correctly. Cant for the life of me remember his username though!
  6. Now that i would pay for!
  7. arrived safe and sound...! CheerZ guys!
  8. Plans have all changed so i'll see you all there. Keep a seat warm for me :)
  9. unless you have an agreed value. Which they should payout, so you could insure it for £10k or so, although this would of course be more expensive to buy the insurance in the first place.
  10. mines going as well... bah. Pesky winter
  11. Well its not overpriced, its what they should be worth. Its stunning, looks fantastc mate. Lovly seats, i just wish mine was pretty, or worth at least half that :( Sucks when they arent worth anything :(
  12. 530 pounds or pence?! I bought a 1997 renault laguna a few months ago with 8 months MOT and not much tax for £460, interior is imaculate and there is one little scuff on a wheel arch. Shes now done 105k and runs sweet as a nut.... (bought with 97k) I'd take it back ,get your £530 and start again. More trouble than its worth... I presume you cant need a people carrier since you use your zed the rest of the time??
  13. Shame about the highway man, but yes its definatly worth returning... The longlands is nice and probably a bit easier to find. But not as good of a road to get there ;) Much larger carpark as well. See you all there... im sure we can drum up some attendees before sunday!
  14. come up to the northwest meet this weekend (bit of a trek i know), but you'll recieve a warm welcome up here... Especially from pete! ;) It is hard mate, and often at "car meets" people go in the clique, and its difficult to start a random conversation, because those people are interested in tlaking to their mates and not meeting other people. So if you can start a conversation with somone then your doing all your can, but if they then only answer with single words then its them that cant think of a reasonable response! You've done your bit, if they are not bothered screw em.
  15. I'll be there... hell i'll even go on my own if its booked. Any excuse to eat at this place :D
  16. i tell you what si, i'll buy your seeingly worthless 17 year old datsun, infact ill do you a straight swap for a 15 year old model!
  17. Only going of experience... Drove an LPG it was slower on petrol and used more fuel.... All im saying it offsets the "amazing benefit" Which to be fair isnt as great as people say it is, doesnt always do the engine alot of good an 2k is a hell of alot of petrol! And as soon sa everyone has converted to lpg it will go up in price anyway so the conversion is pointless. Of course people use full power regularly, why buy a 300bhp car to not use thw power? Honestly, if your going to "not use full power" go and buy a micra. Even the few people that use z's as a daily drive dont do many miles, most of us have them as second cars, weekend toys or projects, so what if they are bad on fuel we can all have a bit of a moan about it when it increases in price a few pence, its not somthing we can relaly do anything about, it happens. But its the same for all cars, it now costs me an extra £4 a week to drive to work and an extra £2 or so to fill my zx up. If you want to quibble over a couple of quid in running costs go and buy a prius
  18. remember thye do even less to the gallon on LPG, so youve got to take into account a 30 ro 40 %increase in fuel usage... its suddenly not as attractive as you first thought. The lpg installers often neglect to tell this fact! (Also on average about 15% down on power!)
  19. Ha you better had for that one tut tut I didnt realise that... so why do you need an MOT? What happened with all the old scrapped cars where we get our private plates from today??
  20. im sure there are much better examples you could have had... I would be taking it back and asking for my hard earnt cash! plenty for sale in our own for sale section However, welcome to he joys of z ownership!
  21. well, its worth its scrap value and the value of the plate... So if the plate is worth £1200 its worth £1200 It starts, so its not totally ruined... Not a bad effort for any Zed, the whole turning the engine over, injectors injecting fuel and pistons going up and down is quite an achievement ;) It would be a risk! But if you had alot of time on your hands and wanted a project i would say go for it!
  22. most garages provide an "engine and gearbox" warranty for 3 months, i.e against major mechanical failure. End of the day, only buy at the right price, you cannot save money on these cars if you pay allot for one thats had lots of work done it will probably be reliale. If you get a cheap one then the money you saved buying the cheap one will be spent on fixing it.... So if your looking at a cheap one, and dont have the readies to rebuild it when it dies then dont bother, because you'll end of with a wrecker thats lots a whole load of cash :) Unlike normal cars, these things are sensitive to maintainence, if its had a hard life with no care it will show! Thats my 2p.
  23. I agree with you! The shorty is still a lovely car, but somhow the 2+2 is just that little bit prettier. If the 2+2 didnt exist then the swb would be a stunning car, but i think those extra 6 or 7 inches just help to keep the perfect proportion
  24. what happens if you turn overdrive of? Will it go through 1, 2,3 then lockup? Also "4th" is overdrive, and it is a bit weird, are you sure its actually going into "4th" or lockup? and then down into 3rd? Autobox has its own ecu, have you tried resetting? Would need to be a battery of for over night or however long it takes to clear any fault codes or issues it has. When cold these autoboxes dont like to change, especially if you have an aftermarket oil cooler on. I know mine doesnt, lockup can take a few miles to be available. Obivously they thrive on the oil being warm, with an aftermarket cooler it takes longer to warm up!
  25. haha, he was with his family so i didnt wanna go over. Also he drove right past me on the carpark and parked on the other side! Even gave him some hazards in the drive through que and no response...! Its because his was NA, im sure of it ;) haha
