Are they worth it? Was quoted £367 for a 24month warranty (£2500) claim limit per individual claim? Covers everything except bodywork. Seems pretty good to me for a 15 year old car and think I would get my monies worth!

read the small print :x:

Not worth the paper they are written on on an old car. They don't cover wear and tare just something that breaks that was standard on the car. I have a warrenty on mine and the auto box just went bang. Basicaly to go through warrenty the garage would have to pull the box off, strip it all out and say to the warrenty compant "yes its broken" then the warrenty company will get them to find the part that failed and say "wear and tare" and then i get the bill for countless hours of fault finding etc. Same with turbo's.

Plus they generally don't cover labour costs

My warrenty was £450, they have replaced a broken water pump free of charge though but that was a week after buying the car

most garages provide an "engine and gearbox" warranty for 3 months, i.e against major mechanical failure. End of the day, only buy at the right price, you cannot save money on these cars if you pay allot for one thats had lots of work done it will probably be reliale. If you get a cheap one then the money you saved buying the cheap one will be spent on fixing it....

So if your looking at a cheap one, and dont have the readies to rebuild it when it dies then dont bother, because you'll end of with a wrecker thats lots a whole load of cash :) Unlike normal cars, these things are sensitive to maintainence, if its had a hard life with no care it will show!

Thats my 2p.
