Hi, Some advice needed... My autobox has just given up the will to live (seems a common problem recently). Considering an auto to manual conversion but can anyone advise of any companies that have done the conversion and the cost of labour. From previous posts I gather the gearbox and parts can be had for approx £700-£800. Thanks [This message has been edited by Ronnie (edited 29-09-2002).]

One of the first things that people say to me when they comment about my car is, "I bet you pull the ladies in that?" Well, errrrrr, NO! Really there are only 2 types of female that go with people becuase of the car. First are the women who go for the BMW type, because they think that all BMW car really expensive and they think they are going out with a swarve rich twonk. Little do they know that only a very small portion of BMW are expensive and they are driven by fat cats who can store 2 days of food in the folds of thier 3 chins. A new MINI costs more than a new BMW 316. The second are 16 year olds who think that Neon washers, green neon lights under th…

I installed a wireless network at home. Its grrrrrrrrrreat!!!!!!! No more wires trailing around the house/up the stairs. I went for a netgear solution from inmac but my mate sats that LinkSys are better. But the netgear solution was cheaper, not by much, and I am familier with their kit. Zimon p.s. I am sitting in the lounge watching the footy and I am on the forum as well. See blokes can do two thing at the same time!

I've just realised that the famil business may come in handy to some of you guys. We sell and use many many types of printing equipment etc. If anybody would like caps or T-shirts with 300zx or Z logos of any type or even a pic of something you have on your PC printed on them then i can organise it. Would be easier if a group of you wanted the same logo but i can recreate any picture/logo or whatever on a Tshirt or cap etc in unbeatable quility both the picture and garment. The T's are polyester on the outside with a cotton inside and are fully washable a a normal shirt. I can also do engraving of metal plates in any logo or design in various meta…

Well it had to happen, everything else has gone well since i bought it a month or two ago :-) I got in the car the other morning to find the edge of my seat wet... I know where the water is coming in because as i was driving around corners more water came in - almost like having an in built shower! I have a jap targa top, and it is coming in on the seam where 2 rubber seals meet at the top of the window/targa top. The actual rubbers look ok... I did a bit of searching on the forums and found some people suggest putting something behind the rubber seal to push it out - to make a tighter fit to the window. Someone else suggested loosening the screws that…

I recently bought my Z and before I start it, or even use the automatic gearbox, should I at least read the manual? Someone said ... "Read the manual you got with the car" and then quoted the manual as saying... "What the manual basically says is that under normal driving conditions use D, rapid overtaking etc. O/D off. Towing or going up steep incline use 2 or 1. That's pretty much it apart from the additional power button you import guys have." But close examination of the manual revelled... Is it better to spout advice without reading the manual and hope I do not get found out or check my facts before pontificating? Any inp…

Just thought I'd share a little info regarding the Avon tyres I had fitted to the front of my Zed. These were 235/45 ZR17s and made a terrible drone above 45 mph. It sounded to me like the wheel bearing were rumbling and when I was advised to change the tyres, I was suspisious to say the least. The problem was, there was still plenty of life left in the Avons. However, I replaced them this morning with a couple of Toyo Proxy's and, hey presto, the horrible noise has gone! Don't think I'll be buying Avon's again, despite their good grip qualities.
