after blowing the bottom end i am now thinking about getting another engine, as its not worth the hassle of trying to fix the current one. engine must be good, obviously.

If you get an engine off someone else there is no way of knowing how good condition it is in. It may be low mileage but it doesnt mean it will last longer.

If you rebuild your engine you will have virtually an new engine and the work and parts will be covered by a warranty.

Buying an 2nd hand engine it could go for 1,000 miles or go for 100,000 miles.

If you want Courtesy Nissan sell new original engines for $3000-$4000.

It is. Whats the cost you been quoted for an engine rebuild? What needs doing?

 

MAC's been talking to me about some one (cant remember who is was) bought a younger low mileage Z to replace his old one and has nothing but trouble with it.

I think if you check the donor car out and get it from someone reputable I think it is not as bad as you may think. I was offered 4 engines and the one I choose was not the cheapest nor the most expensive but the seller offered good evidence of the cars previous life and how it died.

I have got an engine if you are interested, its out of a low mile auto import, My mate wrote it off by falling asleep at the wheel! I will garentte it. He had the engine rebuilt with new turbos 12 months ago. I had the the turbos and dont need the engine!
