Hi Guy's I'v been following this thing on improving my earth's. Now I wont to build one for my self. What I need to know is where I should take the earth's from? and how many would I need? I have found three good earth's on the block, but do I need an earth to the body? Any help please... Chris..

hi, i dont know if its just me but i can hear a low bleeping noise (like the bleeping when lights are on and door is open ) when i get to certain speeds ????????????????/i can hear it in the car but any one else in it can not ....strange does any one have this wierd activity????

Hi, I am in need of some advice from some of you more technically minded lot please. I am due to pick my car up from the docks in Southampton on Saturday all being well. The car went through the MOT in the end but had one problem with one of the rear shocks. It seems that the shock is leaking oil because of the seal and perhaps the shaft being worn. They are apparently made by a company called Trust which I believe means that they are very expensive. Does anyone know if it is possible to get it fixed and where? I really need to get this sorted as the guys in Southampton have fitted 2 of the original standard units (that the last owner in Japan …

The speedo dial on my '95 import only goes up to 115mph. Because of the SVA test the dial face was changed to mph, but at top speed (still restricted) the needle is all the way round to where 180/190 would be!? I assume some kind of 'box' has been fitted to make the needle read as it does but what and where? Has anybody had this on their Zed?

So, I was in getting an MOT yesterday, at a place I hadn't been to before, when the tester informs me that because the Z has an LSD they can't test the rear brakes on the rollers like they usually can. He needs to take it out on the road and do a 'Tapley test', with some device that seems like it measures braking g force, or something? Is this actually proper procedure for cars with LSDs or, given that the youngish tester and his mate looked like a couple of cruiser types, have I been taken for a ride? (Literally, as there was no way they were going out with me coming along!) :confused:

I was removing my tie rods today and notice some bright red coloured piping going into both intercoolers and was just wondering if that was normal. The intercoolers measure about 4"deep and 9" long. Cheers Jon

Been out in the car tonight and all of a sudden anything over 2-2500 revs and the car hits a limiter. After a friendly phone call to Jeff he suggested AFM cabling. I have unplugged and replugged this back in but car will still not go above 2500 revs. This is killing me, I just got burnt off by a nova :( 50mph top speed in 5th now, anyone shed any light?

You're gonna think I'm stupid but... I bought an auto 300ZX and i don't know what the gear stick does. Park, Drive and Reverse I DO understand. What use are neutral, 1 and 2? Also, the 'hold' switch... what does that do? (I'm guessing the 'power' setting is to go fast but I dunno what 'hold' is for. Someone said snow or something...) Thanks again Tim

I've got a slight concern over part of my PCV system. Can some people give me a hand on this by checking something on their Zeds for me. Where the metal pipes leave the rocker cover to go to the air intakes, mine have some play in them on both sides. In fact the left hand one (looking at the front of the engine) has more play in it than the right. To investigate further is going to involve me taking the covers off and buying more gaskets to put them back on again. But if there is a problem, I need to do it now while the plenum's off. So... could any helpful people try "wiggling" these pipes on their Zeds to see if theirs have any play in them as well. Try pullin…

I just bought a 300zx ('99, Jap, N/A). I wondered what fuels to use. The dealer who told me said he thought super unleaded. I can get regular unleaded now and then through work very cheaply. Any idea if it'd damage the car using regular unleaded? Can I use an octane booster with regular unleaded? Thanks guys ps. the car is great; love it!

I lost the wheel nuts, I need to replace the steering rack to pass MOT, but unfortunately I can do nothing without the nuts, does anyone know what I gonna do? Also I tried to contact the manufacturer of my 18" wheel, but it seems no one heard about it, I can't even find anything on the web. Please give me a advise, as I am so worried about it. OK - I would appear to need two new shocks for the back of my car. Jap Spec 1990, any suggestions as to what to fit? Standard Nissan or after market ones.

Hi, I am thinking about getting some larger injectors but know nothing much about them. Does the different stages of tuning have anything to do with what size you go for. If I say just had a boost upgrade, zorst and induction would 720cc be pointless? Would 550cc make more sense? Also, how difficult are they to fit? Is it a garage job and in which case tehn how much are they likely to want to put them in for me? Cheers, Justin

as above, done this to my rx7 i imported, but will need to do to 300zx now so does anyone have any tips, diagrams .. photo's etc.. of them doing the job as i broke some things on the rx7 when i did it!! :( coming v soon so help appreciated :) Matt

in 5th gear under WOT at around 4000rpm my car will occasionally drop about 300rpm to around the 3700 mark and acceleration will start to pick up once more, surely my clutch isn't slipping? it seems fine in other gears, it is really confusing me now as to what could be causing it. You can actually hear the engine note change so its not a dodgy tach.

I have had my car for coming up to a year and I have also over 300 psts on here but I still dont know what half these abbreviations mean. TPS = ? AFM = (Guess) Air Flow Meter Any more?!?!?!!? :nelson:

:mad: Can anyone help? I have the standard bose stereo fitted to my 300zx (1 cd, 1 tape & 3 mini cd), All standard speakers. When i play a cd in the morning when everything is cold their is just no sound at all?, then after about 5minutes it will start crackling in the drivers side speaker. After about another 5minutes the sound will then clear its self progressivly over time? WEARD HEY??? Then the drivers side will start to do the same. So it takes a good half hour before all the sound comes through????, After this its fine for about 2hours, then it will go really quite and the volume has to be on max to get a half decent volume out??????
