Hi everyone, first post :) I hope to be getting a Z soon, I currently drive a v6 ford probe, and have a set of CAM 264 Alloys, 18", with 235/35 tyres on. Could anyone tell me if my PCD 114.3 and offset 38 will be OK with the Z ? Also, is there anything to look out for when buying one? I would ideally like a manual twin turbo, how rare are they (like supra rare or what?) With my budget, 3-7k on car, totalling up to 10k with mods, How much should I expect to achieve with that money? Good to see a good forum for the 300zx, thats one of the plus points of owning a ford probe ;) (great forum) Over and out :) Adam

This is my second Z and of course it's giving me grief, does anybody run these cars day in day out without problems for work or business etc. I love the cars but sometimes I don't altogether trust it to get me where I'm going, I've run big Scorpio Cosworths, Omega's, 944's and Supra's (older shape) and I never got that " I'm about to strand you in the middle of nowhere" vibe from any of them and they never did. What I would like to know really is have I been unlucky or are all Z's inherently unreliable and should they be kept strictly for the weekends.

I am trying to get an idea of the work involved in fitting wide rear arches (Paul Bailey / Z centre). I have heard that the original rear quarter panels / wings are removed completely and replaced with the wider items, is this true? If not, what needs to happen to fit them? Thanks. Paul.

I've only had the car about a week. I understand the heater except the 'auto' button. Also how can you tell if the air con is on or off? I guess it's off now cos it's cold but is there any way I can tell in summer or stop it soming on to preserve power / fuel? Cheers

Hi all, Does anyone know of anywhere in the NorthWest that has a conzult? I live in Bolton. Heres the problem, I went to see Jeff at Zedworld today. He put me some new shockers on ( Its like driving a different car, the old ones might as well not been on!! This has cured my skip to the side when going over bumps by the way). He also put his Conzult on which told me that my Knock sensor was knackered. He explained everything in plain english and said he could put a resistor in that would fool the system into thinking everything was hunky dory. Its not a solution, I know that and he knows that but its better than safety boost! Anyway on to the real problem, …

Can people help me? My car seems to be pulling to the left. I have had the wheels balanced and had them lazer alligned which has helped but it still pulls slightly. Can any one think of a reason? What is the next course of action? Get it on a Jig? Can any one think of what to check next? I have also noticed when I reverse and turn the wheel hard right, I get a grinding clinking noise. Could that have anything to do with it? Stuart

Hi, I went down to Southampton to have a peek at my Zed just before I pick it up on Saturday and found that I am gonna need a new rear spoiler as the standard one is all cracked as I know they are prone to do with age. I have looked at the spoliers on the Zcentre website and have decidedf to go for one of those Supra style ones. What I would like to know is what else is needed apart from the spolier. I know I will need the perspex cover along the back but do I also need the tailgate skin to cover the mess along the top of the bootlid? Also any idea how much the total project usually costs including fitting and spraying Thanks, Justin

On the way back from Cornwall a few months ago I was on the A30 travelling at a steady 70mph ;) minding my own business when the tw*t in an M5 pulled up a mere few feet away from my rear bumper! (how often has this happened?!). Feeling more than a little p*ssed off that day I really wasn't in the mood to race with this ugly heap of german trash - but thought what the hell? It'll make me feel better! When I eventually slowed down at my turning a few miles further up the road, he was nowhere to be seen. Imagine my delight, therefore when after what seemed an eternity, he came into view, obviously at the limit of his motor (I'd say at least 135-40), passes me while I'm on t…

My girlfriend just bought me a pair of strut braces for the Z. I had never really thought about buying these because I heard that they were more cosmetic than functional. Is this true? It seems as though the ends can be screwed in and out to lengthen or shorten the overall length of the bars - which makes me wonder whether they are supposed to be pulling the joists together, or pushing them apart??? However, there seems to be no way to tighten them or loosen them once they are fitted in place, so I don't see how they can make a difference to the handling.. If I'm being very dense, please tell me!! Any ideas?

Right, after cleaning and re-cleaning contacts on AFM car now goes again. However, it seems to misfire occasionaly, sometimes quite a lot and holds back every now and then. It also revs off the scale under fast gear change from 2nd to 3rd gear. Again this is not happening everytime. It feels a little lumpy and tickover *CAN* be erratic dropping to 300 and nearly stalling. Does this mean I gotta really clean and remake new connectors for AFM. Is it anything else? Can an AFM be dodgy or is it a case of THEY WORK or THEY DONT WORK? :(

The only locks that my key works in are the drivers door and ignition. Therefore, a while back, I managed to get my hands on a set of locks with a titanium key ;) and want to get the doors to work off the remote. I have done a search but no one has actually explained how to do it and whats involved. I want to put some 6x9s in the door too and retint my windows, so it would be a lot easier if I could get it all done in one go rather than start dismantling them again and again. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Cos

Not being a great fan of electric string and wiggly amps I aint so hot on what this new HID light upgrade is all about, so can someone give me some gen on it please! Whats it all about? Is it still necessary to do the COS reflective style upgrade as well? What bulbs do you have to use and do they cost an arm and a leg? They appear to light the road up much better (seen the TTNet piccies) but are they legal over here? Ta Nick
