General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Help please Just recently my 91 Jap import has developed this strange noise. It sound like it could be a electric fan bearing grumble coming from the far right hand side of the cab, under the dashboard and behind the guages. It only starts after a few minutes, seems not connected to motor speed and is not affected by the fan settings. IS there anything mechanical there? It sounds like a loose or worn bearing, but isn't very loud or worrying. Ta Chris Davies :confused: :confused:

As you may have noticed, there are two excellent TTs for sale in the boards at the moment, one an auto and one a manual. I have an auto NA at the moment. I quite like the auto box, but must say I'm veering more towards getting a manual in my envisaged upgrade buy to a TT. Has anyone owned both Manual and Auto, and which is more fun ("fun" being one of my main criteria, to take the edge off going to work in the morning!). I understand Autos are quicker in pull-off, but which would be quicker over the quarter mile? Thanks, Mooch

Got me my first zed today- Black zed going towards Slough going past Esso. Flat number flate on bonnet.

Whos fitted them to a Jap spec TT. Come to fit them and think I've foooooked up. The end that goes into the Brake caliper fits perfect but the other end (female) is the wrong thred. So being a smart ars... :cry: I bought the correct ends to go on the brake line coming out of the wheel arch and the tool to create the nipple. But..and heres where it all foooks up the tool will not work because the pipe is not brass i.e. its steal..so now i'm stuffed. Looks like i'm gonna have to replace the hole brake lines! What have other done? Should have just got back to Smithy and told him but thought they are probably right and the car is wrong...being …

recently my zed has developed a high pitched chirp/squeek when changing between 2nd and 3rd ,from the auto box. :x: sounds like a pressure release of some sort, can anyone shed a little light on this for me

Well just 2 days to go and after 7 months waiting, Duffers tells me this sunday i'll be a Zed owner again :) After blowing a piston at THOR she's now got wiseco jobbies, new oil + water pump, PE cam belt, nismo 555's, full Greddy E-manage with optional sensor harnesses, LM-1 Wideband 02 sensor kit, SGP underdrive pulley, twin Apexi induction kit, the BB t28's got new cartridges fitted with uprated actuators, greddy SMIC, howe rad and electric fan all topped off with a shiny shiny plenum and other bits of bling ;) Next task is to try and get around a 1000 miles in before the next RR day at Thor, bit hard when yer live on an Island 37 x13 miles :rolleyes: so driving d…

Don't do it! I've had an overheating problem for a while now. Hopefully it will be resolved as of today as I've just fitted a big Koyo radiator (courtesy of NE Performance). However, my fan shroud was totally shredded when I rebuilt my engine so I removed it entirely. I still had the overheating problem and, recently, it had got very very bad. I had to drive with the heater on and, even then, I couldn't go over 70mph or the needle would head north. I bought a new fan shroud from Dave C (top bloke, highly recommended) and the difference was remarkable. I didn't have to drive with the heater on unless I wanted to hammer it. I am right in thinking u can get hold of new MAF sensors??? Mine's fcuked! I've seen them on the web from the US at around £140 but there's a 7-10 day wait and my Zed's been of the road for about 2 weeks already

Hi All, I'm the proud owner of my first zed, a 1993 Jap import :dance: I know this isn't the highest priority, but i want to get some sounds going, so i have a few questions. 1, Where can i get the thingamyjig that allows me to tune to UK FM frequencies? 2, Does anyone know where i can get an english manual for the Carrozzeria AVIC-D919 dvd/navigation system, as it's in japanese and i don't have a clue how to get it to work (of even if it works). 3, I don't have the cartridge for the nissan cd multichanger, can i get one from Nissan uk? I bought my car in February this year. It's a N/A auto 1999 car. I haven't driven it that fast as it started to shake at high speed. I changed all four tyres today (the fronts were 'Nankangs' or something and I think they were the problem) and now it doesn't shake. :dance: But it seems to hit what feels like an electronic limiter just below 130mph. Does anyone know if that's the case or what it might be? Any ideas how to liberate the full power / speed? Thanks gents!

It seems to come from the right door area. I've oiled the bonnet hinges and that seems to make no difference. Thanks, Mooch

My techy bloke is up to his armpits in bits of my engine which he has taken off to change the knock sensor when he says "where are the lower inlet manifold gaskets?". I ring round and pick myself off the floor when I find these are £62.10 + VAT each. For a gasket? :eek: So I ring another guru and all-round parts supplier and he says "I'm just doing the same thing on mine and my techy bloke has just given up. You can't take the inlet manifold off with the engine in the car as there are little bits of pipework at the back which make it impossible." So back to Guru 1 who says "yes you can - but it is fiddly and there is a knack to it." So, if there is anyon…

Hi Guys I could really do with some help, I have a 1991 uk Z, its a manual, TT, and I need to sell it because I have now just got another. The car is very good condition, the interior is as near to new as you could get on a car half this age, the gear knob is the alloy Z one from Luke and the radio facia is coded, bar a few creases in the leather it new, it has had £9000 spent on it in the last 18 months or so and eight of those months have been spent in garage having the work done. My J spec tt's passenger seat belt has jammed fully extended and won't retract. I have tried poking it around with a knife etc but no joy. I was wondering if it is normally an easy fix or is a replacement the normal option. I'm told once they give trouble it will probably reoccure.My wife won't travel in the car with the belt like it is! Any ideas will be welcome.

I've just chaged my aircon compressor (Ta Kirbs) as the last one sounded like the tracks on a tank when turned on. I've now heard that you can't just fill it up with new R type gas but you have to put some special seals on? My car is a 91 import, so I assume it has had the old gas in.. I got a lightened pulley from the US a while back which came with a set of fan belts, but they are all too short. DOes any one know which length fan belts I need to use with my lightened pulley? Thanks Stuart

Hi mate,wondered if you can shed some light on this? After fitting engine oil cooler i noticed on one of the rubber hoses a "bulge", anyway found this to be what looks like a restrictor in the pipe,is this for pressure drop etc or not?-and is it important? cheers. ;)

Is the wiring at the engine ECU the same for Uk spec and J spec? cheerz
