Guest Mooch Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 It seems to come from the right door area. I've oiled the bonnet hinges and that seems to make no difference. Thanks, Mooch Quote
vijay Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Hi, That'll probably be your bonnet catch. Try greasing it and adjusting the little black bonnet bumps on either side (near the wings) :) Vijay Quote
MAC 1 Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 What is that twittery squeaking Well if it not the wife or girlfriend as Vijay says it could be the bonnet catch,Try the tape trick go around the U twice with tape;) Quote
Guest Mooch Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Thanks for suggestions. Will try it tomorrow. Quote
Guest Scottywil Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 Got a similar prolem. Seems to be coming from the dash board. Its been there for ages and is driving me mental. Someone suggested a few months back that it might be the bonnet catch. Plenty of grease and new rubber stoppers never solved it. Any ideas?????????? I also had a simliar one with my door. It happened after i fitted new speakers. Turned out one of the clips near the top of the door card wasnt in correctly so the it stuck out a little at the top. Couldnt tell by looking though. Took it off, stuck it back on properly, problem solved! Quote
Guest Dave.. Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 IVe had the same thing exactly!, it is from the right hand upper part of the car you'd swear it was from the bonnet hinge/catch, mine does it more in hot weather and I grease everything regulary but it never stops,, ive noticed it does it when I shut the door and sounds like it comes from somwhere behind the wing up near the hinge. Its almost a plastic/rubber contact sound rather than metal Sorry but I havn't a clue either but I get out of the car and open and close everything regulary, so i'll watch this thread for sure. Ive tried to talk the other half into sitting on the engine while I go down the road with the bonnet up but she wont have it. Quote
Guest christopherdavi Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 Tis the wee ghosties of your long dead ancestors, asking you why you bought an old 300!! Quote
Guest Mooch Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 OK - I've got two ideas: Firstly, there is a plastic plug clip on the bottom of the door panel that is supposed to go into a small hole in the metal of the door but in my case is bent & broken and is missing the hole. Maybe that is rubbing on the metal. Tomorrow will try putting tape around the clip for a friction fit or cutting it off. Secondly, I plan to try adjusting or taping the door striker catch. I'll let you know how it goes. Mooch Quote
Guest Mooch Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 Twitters gone! Either one or the other of the above suggestions (I did both so I don't know which was the solution). Quote
Guest Dave.. Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 I'll try it when I get the car back from the garage sometime in the next couple of years. Quote
pete shrimp Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 What is that twittery squeeking? You sure its not the wife? Quote
greg Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 my squaking is coming from the rear panels due to ripping them off to re-trim clips break for a past time and i always seem to be left with more bolts than i started  :D Quote
