Replaced my fuel pump/exhausts and tried my first tank of optimax the other week, Car started to smoke a little when I give it some accelleration (bugger, should of done them 1 at a time so I could work out what caused it). The zorsts are standard mongoose ones which have given a noticeable gain along with the fuel pump and then I did the optimax thing a few days later. This did not start straight away and would only do it when hot so I immediately tought PCV valves which I have on order from mike feeney. (or was it my turbo seals?....not according to the decat survey thing...thank ferk (I havent de catted as mines not going to pass an MOT without em as is a late 92))…

My mate has now not got internet and asked me to post this. His zed when warm is running 145 on compression test on all cylinders bar one. One of them reads 120. Hes put oil down to prove piston rings are worn but he wants to know how serious a reading of 120 is? Thanks

Hiya people, Right zed is running fine, but it feels slow. Boost takes a little while to reach full stock boost. and dont really pull that hard. any ideas what to check?

Anyone know of a place that sells after market steering wheels ? loads about - but none seem to advertise a 300zx boss !! Its for an NA so HICAS aint a problemo ! Thanks for any help

Hi, Just joined the site yesterday and have spent far to much work time clicking through the wealth of info. I am looking to purchase a UK Z shortly and just wanted to know how you identify a series 1/2 etc and what the differencies are between them. Also is there a way of telling the year of manufacture of the car from chassis number etc. I noticed this info on another site but it only apparently applied to Jap cars. Great site - hopefully have my own Zed soon to get properly involved. Phil

hi have just bought myself a black tt t-top long wheelbase 300 and am wondering what steps i should tune the car up in do i get exhaust filter and boost upgrade first or is it more compplexed then that?? ie will i need fuel cut defender or shall i just get some big injectors fuel pump and fuel controller ??

Driving yesterday at 1.30 saw a red zed on the A22 at whyteleafe flashed my lights didnt notice if it was a uk or imprt as the blonde driving got my concentration :rofl: anyone from here ?

Dunno the name of the road but spotted you not too far away from the race course, was going the opposite way in a maroon Jag XK8 and continured to stare at you! Your car looked standard but standard Zed`s are a thing of beauty! anyone on here? Dan.

ive got a oil leak from my auto gear box and it drips onto the exhast when ive got the car hot and been driving for 30 mins. it only drips when you put your foot down not round town had the car on the ramps today at the garage and we are stumped the box is oil free no leaks from the seals but oil all under the car on the floor pan. you can see it dripping from the gearbox area when it goes but thats when iam on the road and not on the ramps in the garage :confused: is there a over flow pipe? the only thing done to the box the filter was cleaned any ideas as ive run out of them and iam geting sick of smoke coming out the back as if the turbos have gone. p…

Recently (especially when wet) I find when flooring her I am losing all power even though there is no lights on the dash. Not only do I lose power it feels like I have hit on the brakes. I am being thrown forward in the seat. Does this sound like total itermittent PTU failure???

I have the satandard Jap radio cassette fitted and a Sony CD changer in the boot. I can't get the changer to work, is the changer not compatible with the standard Jap head unit. Do you think they removed an aftermarket stereo and left or forgot the changer ?

but how do I know if my Z is a Fairlady, it has a Fairlady badge (well, sticker) on it, but I don't know, would it say Fairlady on the log book ?

When i take the metal cap off my radiator all the water is browny sort of colour i've been told it's rust. Does this matter is there anything i could do or should do. Or is it ok just to forget about it?

I was just wondering if it's ok to remove the CAT's as well as the Silencer's? I have a 1990 TT, the reason i was asking cause i heard that i might not get enough back pressure for the turbos. Any advice?

i was going down a country road last nite and when i put my foot down the car just totally cut out, eng stops, lights on dash came on the lot. after i check the usual (coils, injectors, ptu) i tried starting her up but she aint firing at all, called the AA and after 2 hours he turned up and didnt have a clue. got towed home and left her standing all night but still no luck this morning. pulled out spark and did test to find no sparking so i then checked cas but still no change. need help with this one please! :bow:
